So I guess after our first win there didn't seem to be a lot of people worthy of being dropped. Most players seemed to play pretty well but what are your thoughts on who should go and who should stay?
Rockliff: Injury unconfirmed as a calf/achilles but seems unlikely to play next week after getting subbed off. Question is who comes in to replace him? Would we do a like for like sub and get in one of our midfielders from the seconds, maybe a clearance guy like Harwood or maybe give Beams ago? Haven't heard any reports about Beams from the ressies guys for a few weeks and Harwood was named as an emergency so must still be close. Possibly Raines comes back in for Rockliff and releases Polks into a more attacking role.
Maguire: Does he still have a role in our team? Spent time in the backline and made a few howlers, then went forward and did a few good things without making a huge impact. Considering Mcgrath comes up is he the man to make way for him? Some say Maguire was lucky to come back into the team without playing any games in the ressies and has lacked fitness at times. Has been hit and miss, could be time for a spell.
Austin: Got the call up after some good form in the reserves and did a few good things. Liked his desperation in the back half of the ground, threw himself into contests in the last quarter and has a pretty big kick. Didn't break the game open and looks to be the most likely to get omitted. I think he should keep his spot but if he doesn't perform against the Crows he could be in trouble if Polec plays well in the ressies.
Sheldon: Has looked quite good in the last few games. Kicked a goal and held his own in a lot of contests. Particularly remember him taking on three Roos boys on the wing, managing to keep the ball in play and hold it up to allow Banfield to come through and take the ball. Should see him next week
Retzlaff: Played pretty well for a tall in a game that was terrible weather for strong overhead marking. In the second half with Clark playing much further up the ground did some good things with Brown in the forward line. Made his defender accountable at all times as from what I saw all the 3rd up's against Brown was normally the guy manning up on Clark. Acorn is knocking on the door with 6 goals in the reserves to keep the pressure on but Retzlaff has done enough to keep his spot for another week.
Stiller: I only bring him up because other people will in this thread I'm sure. Has been part of a cohesive defensive unit that is working extremely efficiently. The unit managed to stop too much of a blow out against Essendon and with the Inside 50's in the Kangaroo's favor for the first half managed to help keep the Lions in touch for the second half assault.
So I guess all I can see changing is this:
In: Raines
Out: Rockliff
Harwood could be a smokey chance at coming in for Rockliff but with most of the guys in the reserves not hugely impressing I won't expect to many changes.
