Unleash Bedendo(fit?) or Jones. Can't keep picking mediocre players hoping they hold up.
Roarkes first quarter was as bad as you will see, was a liability, the dees didn't even man him up, decision making and disposal under pressure wow. Gardner tries hard, but has no confidence in his disposal, he was also ineffective killing the ball in aerial contests.

out: Smith, Gardner or Cordy, vandermeer
in :Bedendo or Jones, Martin or Sweet, West

I'll play pin the tail on the donkey.
Out: Cordy (the jig is up), Weightman (just not playing his position properly), Vandermeer (too many fumbles and stuffups) Schache (the man can't take a mark to save himself)
Williams, Hunter, Gardner, Hannan also on the way to the guillotine - need a reason for a stay of execution.
In: JUH (he's tall), JJ, O'Brien (if fit), Wallis
No idea why Duryea didn't play but historically he's more reliable than most in the backline. Injured? Unfit?

VDM, Cordy out
O'Brien, JJ in.

Schache to play forward/2nd ruck, O'Brien as the 3rd tall defender to free Williams up.

The game waits for no one. Melbourne's running on the large MCG killed us. Hunter / Libba / Cordy may get away with it at Marvel Stadium, but not the G.

Hunter and Cordy are my outs, too slow can't cover the ground at any speed. Libba transitioned throughout the year. Daniel to half forward flank, we need a good user bringing the ball inside 50. Others can play the half back role.

The suggestion that Hunter can’t cover the ground is hilarious. That is literally the only reason he gets a game.

Cordy and Schache will forever have question marks about the lack of mobility and ability to find easy ball. Both as forwards are heavily reliant on others drawing attention and picking apart zone defences. Nor do they have Hawkins like strength to control the drop zone.

May as well pick Marra and develop him. He will get outbodied by opposition defenders but at least he is mobile to get separation and Naughton draws opposition like a bunch of flies over a roast dinner.

Get another ruck in as well. Do we play VFL this week?

I understand your view on Williams but that was quite honestly one of the worst performances ever played by a Bulldogs player that I can remember. 6 turnovers that lead to opposition goals. The complete lack of confidence and skill. You are probably right that he holds his spot due to how reliable he has been in the past, but that’s two howlers in a row for mine and Duryea should be in that back 6 in my opinion, he is more reliable than Williams at the moment. But because Williams is taller they probably aren’t direct swaps, but anyway I would like to see him back in the team.

I couldn't tell who every drop or miskick was from my vantage point at the ground. Did Williams really have that many turnovers leading to goals?

6 goals from direct turnovers. An AFL record, supposedly by a long way.

Williams has gotta have a spell based on that, he wasn't great against Essendon either too from what I saw of that game. Hunter is definitely not 100% (weed out the internal leaker Bevo), Schache needs to show something otherwise why bother with JUH waiting in the wings, these 3 are definitely on notice in my book.

Dunno if it's a concern to some, but we haven't won a game yet this year, yes we probably put the foot off the gas against Essendon with resting Bont for a half etc, but the Brisbane game and now last night is concerning in trend, Brisbane won the game off their 2nd quarter and us shutting off for long periods, now last night with our pathetic 1st and 3rd quarters not breaking up the momentum when we needed to. We need to grind out 4 quarters consistently otherwise we'll be a 5-8 team yet again.

We need to find space for a second ruck who I will free Tim up to spend sometime down forward too which can only help Naughton - if Martin isn’t fit then Sweet it is

Williams stays - but the errors need to go and fast

Agree that Cordy, VDM, Schache all on thin ice but much will depend on whether Bont and Treloar are fit

Why don’t we put someone on Petracca or are we admitting we have no one capable of doing it?

When you are winning everything looks like roses and when you lose it looks like shark droppings. These extremes are not reality and we had some very good moments but turnovers and fumbling cost us so many goals. Fifteen minutes to go we we only a kick down. That said there are still the same question marks are there as last season.

English is getting a lot better but needs help from a proper ruckman. However Martin is cooked and apparently Sweet still has a way to go.

Schache looked better last season but he is just to soft

Gardiner Tries hard but probably one most limited players in the AFL

Roarke has a red hot go but does not have clean hands and is a poor decision maker

Cody Needs to play as small crumbing forward with some big grab attempts. He is doing the opposite at present

VDM I like his intent but needs more composure

Libba and Dunks need to work out their roles to compliment each other

Changes in O'Brien if fit, JUH, Sweet or Martin because we have nothing else JJ
Out Schache, Gardiner, Roarke and Cordy

TOB, Keath, Williams
Dale, Gardner, Daniel
Roarke, Dunkley, Crozier
JJ, Naughton, Treloar
Weightman, Sweet, Wallis
English, Macrae, Bontempelli
Smith, Libba, Richards, whoever demands it at training

On notice: Weightman, Williams

Park Sweet in the goal square. Have him draw a defender off Naughton and kick a goal when he gets a chance. He has nowhere near Schache's skill but he's far gutsier.

Hi everyone it's Dan "The Hypocrite" Nnnnnnnnn here to suggest playing O'Brien forward after bitching about people suggesting it all off-season.

I just don't know what else to do. Nobody who watched the practice game could reasonably suggest JUH. "Couldn't be any worse than Schache" - yes, he could, and he certainly was in that practice game. Cordy doesn't demand the ball enough to be a reasonable foil to Naughton and the good teams know how to close down our smalls enough to make bringing it to ground a negligible advantage. At least O'Brien will be a little bit of a target before he drops the mark.

IN: O'Brien, Johannisen, *Duryea
OUT: Schache (oh boy that's gonna hurt the confidence), Vandermeer, *Cordy/Gardner

if Duryea is fit or whatever the fu* is happening with him is corrected, but someone needs to be accountable in the backline

FB: Duryea/Cordy - Keath - Williams
HB: Dale - Gardner/Cordy - Richards

C: B. Smith - Bontempelli - Macrae

HF: Hunter - O'Brien - Johannisen
FF: Hannan - Naughton - Weightman

R: English - Dunkley - Treloar

I: Liberatore - Daniel - Crozier - R. Smith

Williams, Hannan, Weightman, R. Smith need to show up next week or they're out. In the case of Hannan I'd replace him if I could think of anybody to do it with, and Roarke is the only player between the arcs with any interest in chasing a man.

Key position setup is a worry.
Let’s judge Jamarra on his body of work last year in the AFL, definitely wasn’t as bad as what Schache dished up last night. At worst Jamarra is invisible, Schache can be downright hurtful - no excuses on last nights performance he probably just cannot cut it at the top level. In saying that I’m willing to try him as a 3rd tall defender and that’s it.

You can’t tell me playing one of Sweet or Martin even for limited minutes is not more useful to this side then the extra bog average small flanker we can fit in the side? Surely?

Libba and Hunter in the forward line? It’s a no for me dawg.

Sweet/English splitting the ruck 50/50 (Timmy was fantastic, but what’s more important to the team is what we should do) Jamarra & Naughty alongside the resting ruck. Hannan out, VDM out, Rourke out, JJ in, Hunter back to full time wing trying to re-establish his form there. Dunno what to do with Libba but he’s got enough credits to try and make it work.

Down back build around Keath, Gardner & O’Brien if fit, Schache gets a reprieve if not.

Man who ever thought swapping Cordy and Schache between CHB & CHF should be sacked, that’s ****ing atrocious.

Dunno what to do with the small/medium defenders with Doc to come back and Croz & Red Ed showing great form yesterday. **** do we almost bite the bullet and **** off these shocking 2nd kpds options and go full small ball. Obviously gonna get burnt at times but geez would we be any worse off aerially? Maybe barely considering the output we get from Gardner, Cordy & Schache. Just go all in on run and carry, small down back & tall up forward.

In for scans today.... Bont (ankle), Caleb (foot), Bailey Dale (unsure)
