I don't see how that could be seen as overrating him in the first place. I mean, who's the other big bodied forward that can take a contested grab on our list?
I don't think he is big bodied. I don't think he's shown any greater capacity to take a contested grab than other blokes. And I don't think he's necessarily a "natural" forward.

I think he has shown promise coupled with a whole lot of weaknesses that will need to be worked on. Just like the other young blokes we've tried up forward.

Has freeman put on 20kg in the last few weeks because he was a long way behind Close size wise in pre season. Poor guys being set up for a caning

Luey in for Andrews. Staker in for Robinson. Lester in for Aish who was useless and who doesn't seem to like getting dirty. Agree with many other posters if you play Lester play him in the centre and let him win some contested ball.

Lester D.Beams and Rich for every centre bounce. Have Zorko and Redden playing on the wings and Cutler running of the back of the square at each centre bounce.

And no more Josh Green as sub. Make Bewick sub and see if he can run hard for last 40 mins of the match as he struggles to do it for 100 mins.

OUT = McStay, IN = Staker - Staker should not have been dropped after one game back from injury; McStay continues to drift into and out of games without any real intensity.

You lost me here. McStay took some great marks today. Would have kicked 3-4 if he kicked straight and maybe more if our midfield got it forward more.

Took a strong grab in defence also.
This is almost certainly Staker's last year and he's in no better form.... Arguably worse.

McStay was much improved today. Reads the game really badly and is on his heels too often but you could see his intensity lift. I feel like today was the first day in a while that he took a step forward.

Time for Luey to get a run-replace Andrews.
No shame in that back to the twos to work on his game for a couple of weeks

We need someone with a big body up there was the point of the conversation and surprise, surprise, he is the only big bodied natural forward we have that can take a contested grab. No one is proclaiming him to be the second coming. Andrews, McStay and Close don't have the body or strength yet. Which is of course expected.

mute point for me...we need our mids to start playing clean transition footy. It really doesnt matter who is forward atm moment...our mids (which is suppose to be a strenght....lol) are just killing us

If anyone should be dropped it should Dayne Beams he's not worth the money we're paying him a few weeks in the seconds should sort him out he should be able to win possessions especially against a weak midfield like West Coast

I remember watching him meander around the ground against the Roos (watched it live), and thought geez I thought we recuited a hungry & skillful footballer

I was actually kidding but yeah he doesn't seem to be himself seems to focused on what's happening at Collingwood then at our club

21 disposals, 4 marks, 4 tackles and 1 goal isnt worth dropping. Wasn't fantastic but much better than most of the guys.

Edit: oh, you were kidding lol.

Maybe we have brought him down to our skill level?

Ok......

Aish OUT. - IN O'Brien
Robinson OUT. - IN Hammelmann
Redden OUT. - IN Lester
Andrews OUT. - IN Leuenberger

FB: Gardiner - Clarke - Adcock
HB: CBeams - McStay - Cutler
C: Robertson - Rich - DBeams
HF: Zorko - Martin - Hammelmann
FF: Green - Rocky - Christensen
R: Leuey - OBrien - Lester

Bench: Taylor, Golby, Paparone
Sub: Bewick

I think Hammelmann has kicked 13 goals in three games in NEAFL. No brainer for me. Provides another tall target.

Martin to be a mobile CHF. We need a big tall target who can work up the ground. Martin is the closest we have.

McStay back to CHB. Unless we get Merrett back we need another tall in defence.

Paparone to start on the bench and play down the wing. Not in defence.

Lester and O'Brien in for Aish and Redden. Can't be any worse. Will work harder at the least. Lester adds to our midfield size.

Not such changes for the next game but more to the fact that a few players from here on in are locks for the season taking into account their shite games and their good. These being N Robbo, Cutler, McStay, Taylor, Gardiner, Paparone, Green, Mayes (when fit), Clarke, Aish (yep), Freeman (when fit) and possibly Andrews, Dawson or a rookie like Beasley. That's half of a best 24. You can add or remove one or two but in five years time the above list will be the majority of our list.

yeah im sure he will come good... might point was that I was surprised how lazy he looked. Maybe he has given up being amongst the inept midfield that is the lions

I had a discussion about this at the game - maybe Beams is finding it hard without a bunch of great players around him.
