My original point was that without Mundy & Barlow both fit and firing in the middle we will struggle to match it with North who have invested heavily in grunt players. Their midfield is quality inside as proved by them matching it with Carlton's for almost the whole game.

Our recruiters have put together a midfield of Mundy, Barlow, Morabito + the outside players and if they were all playing I would have every confidence we would match it with North. Without them, we will struggle. So it's not a failure of our recruiters, it's the fact we can't put our desired midfield on the park. Simple.

North are not middle of the road, they are on our level in terms of quality young players in development. They thrashed the Dogs, matched it with Carlton last night. They had some key injuries early in the year and are now getting players back & hitting form, much like us. Expect a torrid encounter.

Why is Barlow not in contention for fit and firing? He's been one of our best in the two full games he's played. You're making excuses for injuries that we don't even have.

Swallow and Ziebell had ~50% disposal efficiency each last night and you're saying that's a midfield we should fear? Why can't Palmer and Lower match these blokes, then?

I can't fathom the excuses you continually make for poor performances. I don't live in Perth but if this is the kind of attitude that permeates the supporter base it's hardly surprising the club under performs.

Griff was very sore last week. The shit thing about Luke being out is that Johnno will have to ruck. We've looked reasonable in the past with Silvagni providing the chop out.

If I was the Hawks I would be making a last minute change too.

At least it is wet which will nullify this to some degree, Clancy is a mudder with a no centre of gravity so that is another positive ...however I remain scared.

Ladson is in as the sub

I always laugh at this type of comment Clay.

What we do, say contributes SFA to a club's success or failure - aside from handing over our $'s and providing a atmosphere on game day.

Live for the future - go Freo.

I read other team boards, I don't see such virulent excuse making or obsequiousness towards other clubs' players. There's respect, and then there's just being a wimp.

Seriously, do you believe that Ziebell and Swallow is a midfield that should challenge us?

Barlow is currently playing most of the game as a forward because he's not fit yet. Mundy might play, Morabito won't. So that's one of the 3 players I mentioned who we will definitely have and he might not be fully match fit. Don't pretend you don't understand that.

Your last paragraph is nonsense, those sort of arguments don't stand up on any level. I've come to expect better of you.

Anyway much as I'm enjoying this, I'm a ******** Perth supporter so better get off to the game and wave my scarf in the air :)

I'm sure you'll get down and clap Johnson off after doing nothing.

Have you noticed what sort of form Mitchell has been in? He would be way too mobile and nimble in tight for McPhee - Mitchell would tear us apart I reckon. Crowley would be more likely for Mitchell, and even that worries me a bit even thought I think he's Creepy's sort of player if you know what I mean.

Birchall a better option though.

Agree with both points. McPhee's sideways movement isn't great and he's not exactly nimble. But he can take the occasional contested mark and Birchall would need to avoid being cut in half the whole game. I like it. Mitchell is definitely an appropriate match up for Crowley.

Would leave DeBoer free to match up on Cyril. Dunno if that'll happen, but I reckon it'd work well.

What's the deal with Kep?

Did we list him as an emergency? Despite what some posters on here have said, I think Bailey is a good ruckman. No hack that bloke. And a very solid unit. Zac will have an incredibly tough day.

Would love Kep to be in the side, because MJ is a terrible ruckman. Kep isn't brilliant, but he's streets ahead.

And entering the North debate... they do have a very good inside midfield. Superior to ours at the moment in terms of inside work for sure. If Mundy, Sandi and Barlow were at full fitness, then we'd probably be fairly even, but not as we are at the moment. They belted Carltank at the clearances, and Carlton have been very good in the clearances all year.
