I don't agree that the club should provide tickets free of charge to members for an away game
In a normal year I would agree with you, but this isn't a normal year.

Members have been asked to sacrifice for the club and the club went about it in a sneaky fashion.

The members opinion of the club has never been lower.

The club may go through the season without a win.

A bit of goodwill towards its members might be a better financial decision than this shortsighted approach.

Yes, I know too well not a normal year working in the health sector. I also chose to fully support the club at 100%, not knowing if I would see any ganes

The point is the AFL have an opportunity of giving back to members who support the club or having an away game with a very small crowd. The SMA also lose out on beverages & food consumed by extra supporters attending.

It should be a no brainer to let Crows members use up any leftover tickets.

I'm no going to pay another $30 x 2 when I have already paid in full to my club & won't see by usual 11 games.

If you don't understand why then so be it...
I couldn't agree with this anymore. I wouldn't expect a ticket myself as I didn't donate any money to the club. The reason I didn't is the same as why I didn't donate any to the cinema, Bunnings or Coles. In my opinion the AFL and all of the clubs are no more deserving of charity than Coles - probably less so as the average wage of an AFL employee is much higher than a Coles employee. The AFL sell a product that I consume and every group within the AFL (admin, players, etc) are squeezing as much money out of it for themselves as they can. I don't begrudge them for doing that but I didn't like how they then asked members for financial support when they needed it - especially when there are so many more worthy causes at the moment.

I can certainly see why supporters who did show good will towards the AFL will feel disappointed now that the AFL has taken the very next opportunity to squeeze more money for themselves out of those very same people instead of showing some good will in return. This could be made an Adelaide home game and Hawthorn can be the "home team" when playing another Victorian side in Queensland to make up for it.

This is an AFL decision, not an Adelaide decision so people, please channel your frustration in the right direction.

I would hope most members would be more pissed off if the club paid upwards of 200k for tickets to an away game in a time slot that not many are gonna be able to get to anyway. None of us also have any idea if the club could even just purchase all the allocated tickets and give them to members for free, so your rant just seems a bit misplaced.

Thats true and I agree with the previous post about it being the AFL issue.

They should simply say Hawks members get 1st crack as home side, then crows members, then gen public.
Its not uncommon for interstate members to get access to 1 or more game free as part of their membership when its in their home state so its same mechanism really.

Poor form by the AFL

Back to back 5pm Tuesday games is also pretty rough

Got a shock when I got the email telling me I could shell out $30 to see the Hawks' game. They can shove the game up their arse.
Reckon they might get around 1000 local hawks diehards and maybe some general public Crows non-pledgers desperate to see a game this year. I hope it's the smallest crowd in AFL history.
Since I'm used to paying $25 per game in Melb .....I would be excited, if I could, to pay the $$$ to watch a live game and our youngsters

Absolutely! I was Initially annoyed that the club didn’t buy extra tickets for other fans to come (we have lots of non members up here), but understand they would try to save costs at every opportunity, also that they wanted to reward those that stuck by them.
The Days of Crows supporters getting free rail to games and other subsidisations, are over for the foreseeable future

The Crows couldn’t purchase the tickets and provide them to its members?
The tickets have already been purchased

Can't the Hawthorn paid up members who are stuck in Victoria and have tickets to this 'home' game give us their tickets if they can't use them?

The AFL are in effect selling them twice.

Milera 2-3 weeks. No change from last week. Did he and Ben Davis get up to something naughty and the club has penalised them games but is trying to keep it quiet externally by them having eternal injuries. Ben Davis magically has a 2-3 week injury this week after a "setback" last week after finally a journalist asked where he is. Hmm.

When have you EVER known the AFL to give back to members?

Funny that Godden says Fog could run through the midfield, duh.. so why hasn’t he?
He has, had a more substantial run in there in the last quarter on the weekend but Godden also said he fatigued quickly which is a real worry given he's been on the list for 3 years.

Again you have missed the point

I was discussing what the AFL should do... nor what they will do!

So they could have a crowd of say 1000, rather than 10000... with a worse atmosphere & SMA loses out on food & beverage revenue on 9000... & the AFL lose an easy opportunity for a goodwill gesture.

Overall, less net revenue is generated by having a smaller crowd well under capacity...

We’ve been saying it up here all year. They are missing out on an opportunity to have more QLDers come to games. The QLD govt said they could have 10,000 capacity. They’ve chosen not to do that. Lost opportunities.

Imo, we need to go all in for a win this week, as breaking the duck would be a huge relief.

if there is just one win for the year, could we save it for our final round (Grand Final) match and potentially deny Carlton finals? :$

The lols and relief of the win could carry us till next year comfortably. :drunk:
