He's obviously on his way out but gee I've never seen a player cop so much systematic abuse as tex has over his career. Both from supporters and the footy world. Watching little kids berate him at the game over almost nothing is pretty sad. Obviously been listening to their parents hurl abuse at every opportunity.
This. I'm sick of it to be honest. The hysteria about his performances is way, way over the top, even though his stats are better than many players eg Dixon who are heralded for great performances.
Everyone blames tex for the team's current problems. Yeah he's not performing well, and I wouldn't be upset if he was dropped, but to me the blame is much, MUCH more sitting with selection, hart & campo, changes during the game, and disposal efficiency going forward.

Those two fronting the media - must've been a good news day.
Like the day they handled Walshy's murder?

As much shit as you can throw at these two men, they were incredible for us on that day.

I have a different theory...

I think it also doesn't help that the coaches have the final say in the weekly team selections. The coach's job is to win the game this week, then to win enough games to qualify for the finals, and ultimately to win the flag - this year. It's the Football Manager's role to look further ahead, and to ensure that succession planning is not forgotten in the chase for short-term goals. The FM should have a strong input into the team selections, with a view to selecting younger players in preparation for future seasons. I'd feel a lot more confident if I didn't know that our FM was Brett Burton.
Your earlier points are very valid

Your last and the one quoted is something I alluded to in another thread

Burton may not be individually responsible but he has an overseers role in many areas and one of these is long term list player management.

I don't know the internals but I would find it difficult to see Burton tell the coaching group to play Davis for example for more than one game.

I don't even think any robust discussion would be had either

Losing would be ******* hilarious. Especially a drubbing a la the Neil Craig Melbourne debacle. Rolling into the week after unchanged would be comedy genius.
In all seriousness a belting by Carlton may quicken the necessary changes which are being rejected due to the argument " We are sitting in 8th." The premiership race is genuinely out of 3 or 4 teams. Any other team that hangs it hat on making finals is delusional. Those teams likely only made the finals out of a combination of luck and a favourable draw including which contenders they played away and which teams played gold coast twice.

I'm thinking of booking leave for tomorrow afternoon, just in case it is a 'no change' day.

AA, SEN and this board will be epic.
I think we're beyond epic melts here at least. Everyone already knows what's going to happen and has pretty much already resigned themselves to it. There will be solid melts, but not epic ones.

To be honest what’s not right is our midfield.

But hey - Sloane and Crouch brothers are A graders, so it can’t be them.

Must be 13.
Everyone's quick to have a go at our forwards, but there's been little scrutiny on the players actually kicking them the ball!!

I'm starting to lose it with this team selection. This is the perfect time to "drop" Tex. They could easily palm it off as precautionary because of his elbow with no loss of pride but instead they will continue on the road to hell with this line up that is clearly going nowhere. I know Fog hasn't exactly been tearing it up in the 2's but he's the type of player I believe that would seriously step up if given the chance.
My conclusion........Pyke and the heiracy have lost the plot.

Saw this on Twitter.

Don has backed these lazy pricks enough.
That's effort.

In people who give a stuff
Out lazy pricks

So last year we ****ed up our season by brutalizing the players in the pre season..

Has the reaction to that been to do completely the opposite?

Last in the league for key fitness measures, and constantly getting blown away in second halves..
