2020 is 2020's problem. They're not concerned in the least in long term, they're a bunch of people trying to save their jobs.
As soon as you are thinking about trying to save your job... it's too late!

It's just kicking the can down the road. We'll have to pick it up eventually, but hopefully not this year. The issue will then become when the rebuild becomes obvious, do the board have the stomach to allow a coach to sit through 2-3 years of less than ideal results? Probably not.

I never miss a Crows game. Always make plans around the time slots we have so i can watch live or be there and not even miss a minute

GC game: Went out for dinner. Taped it and didn't bother watching

Ess Game: Watched it, but missed the start

Melb game: Didn't see any of it bar the last 2 mins (lol)

That's a huge deal for me. The passion is fading and it saddens me. Maybe 2017 broke me more than i care to admit? I have never taken in so much footy media and time as i did in 2017. I have never ignored it as much from October 2017 and until the start of 2018 either ;)

Something has to give. It just gas to. Surely someone wakes the fu** up to what's going on down there

Yep I am the same as you, I usually have the game day and time locked away early in the week so I can plan the weekend viewing. I couldn’t tell you when we play this weekend. Last week I watched the golf in second half of match knowing full well we were going to lose.

It is genuinely mistifying how Mackay is still there

I assume they sat around the table wondering how they could try to convince us they were serious and figured they'd drop Betts.

Otten is completely understandable, but we really really lack courage at the selection table.

I don’t get how Otten is understandable. We don’t need three tall defenders against Carlton, who will he play on? Had we lost Keath and either Talia or Harto, Otto is a perfectly fine 2nd tall defender. But he’s nowhere near mobile enough to play on anything other than a slow KPF. Carlton will try and isolate Otto’s match up as often as possible and go in low. He’ll get comprehensively destroyed with low ball coming in. Don’t we have a couple of talented, in form half back types who can run and have good foot skills? Otto and Mackay, no wonder we’re going nowhere fast.

Why didn't you answer any of my questions?

Are you happy with the pace of our side?

Are you comfortable with all of Talia, Otten, Hartigan & Kelly to give us offensive drive from the back half?

Do you wonder why Jones & Gooch lost form being bumped from the midfield so our passed it players could start losing us sanfl games?

Are you in anyway officially connected with AFC?

In no way do I want to be an Andy Otten apologist, however he has better and more creative foot skills than anyone you just mentioned.. Keath included.

If Keath truly needed the rest, then I would expect he takes his place next week and hopefully Otten shows enough to slide Hartigan out. The fact that they are playing those 3 immobile KPD and trying to manufacture 1 to be the interceptor/3rd tall is farcical. Otten is the better skilled option for the role. This 15m, no risk kick-to-kick between Talia, Hartigan and Kelly is costing us more games than people are willing to realise.

Overall we've missed many chances to introduce the next wave of players throughout the year.

But...

Jacobs
Douglas
Betts
Gibbs

Playing in 2s uninjured is nothing that I would have expected to at these start of the year.

Sure they could do better, cut harder and replace with youth instead of guys surplus to requirements, but still, baby steps.

I’m not exactly pumped about the overall changes but it is good to see SANFL form rewarded. That’s a message we should send more often.

And I’m keen to see Stengle at work again.

[kinda odd that we play inexperienced guys away from home - Wilson only plays at the G, Davis debuted in Geelong and was immediately dropped, Stengle now at the Gold Coast and the MCG]

So youve mentioned majority of our draftees of 2018. The cupboards bare otherwise of what we had b4 them. Gallucci looking like being a flog imo. Macpherson looking a bust. Fog has stagnated. My point being we havent developed much talent the past 3 to 4 years knocking out the likes of Mackay, which is reflected in us playing one of the oldest sides in the league.

I don’t see any chance of Gooch being a flop. He needs to be played in the midfield as he’s the only one at the moment who looks likely to clear the contest area while running towards goal. He’ll end up at another club and become a very good midfielder unless we wake up soon.

I dont get the melt over Otten.

Yep he is old but based on SANFL form we have selected the three best players to come in. Otten is having a good season and deserves to play in his depth role behind Doedee and Keath.

One or two games now will not hinder Butts development.

The real issue is Tex. It is bloody obvious he is playing injured. Any slight knock to that elbow and his day is over. Did we not learn last year??? Especially when we have Fog who can step right in.

I hope to wake up tomorrow and learn Tex is a late out.

Otten, Talia, Kelly, Hartigan. Is this the worst afc backline ever seen? Throw in Wilson, Knight, Murphy, Mackay, Atkins and Jacob's and Douglas as our first emergencies lol. Add in the club playing an injured Walker over a Himmelberg or Fogarty and Keath (rested). What the **** is that? Either he is injured or he isn't. Is it due to him not signing a contract and informing the club he is off from this rabble end of year? If this isn't the case why rest a bloke when this is last chance saloon for finals? Load up on Carlton for easy money. It's obvious now Pyke is trying to get himself sacked. I hope the guineas book of records is on hand for the oldest and slowest team to hit the field ever. How did it come to this? BTW if the club was using this year to rebuild with the likes of Fogarty, Himmelberg, Jones, Gallucci, Stengle, Butts, Davis, Hamill, McHenry, McAdam, Sholl etc and we were sitting in 14th I wouldnt be unhappy. At least I would know we were fast tracking the future but we haven't done that at all. All they have done is set this club back another 12 months.

Can someone explain that one?
Yep, I would have thought Keath on Mackay would've been an ideal match-up for him. I just can't see who Otten will go to - if he plays back. He's not nimble enough to cover their smalls, nor big enough to got to Casboult. The only thing on our side is Kreuzer being out - this should give us an advantage in the midfield, but once again we then bring in Wilson, who, despite his great SNAFL form, is yet another slowish midfielder who will struggle against their younger mids. Whilst I've been arguing for Tex and Eddie to go, once again, we seem to have imbalanced the side with a mystifying selection this week. We have zero X-factor, which we often need to win in Melbourne - particularly at the MCG. Hope Stengle can show his worth and remind us why we drafted him!

Tex hit on his arm last week had him in agony

I get it but the big fella could have easily used this week off.

The changes don’t really faze me - but would love them to release the Fog and lets see what he can do given his chances

For me the really stupid part of that was Hart publicly discussing how they were keen to explore how the forward would look and function with all of Betts, Murphy and Stengle in the lead up to the GC game and then writing it off straight afterwards

The issue with Otto is exceedingly obvious. We do not need to play 3 KPDs against Carlton. Otten’s ONLY viable role at AFL level is as an undersized KPD on slow KPFs where he can use superior footy IQ to cover for his size disadvantage. He’s going to be playing on a small or medium and will get cut up. It was a perfect opportunity to play a better set up that gives us a bit more run while actually improving us defensively. Sticking to the 3 KPD structure just because Harto can play a bit quicker is absolute stupidity. It makes us worse defensively and reduces our ability to rebound hard from our back half. It’s a ****ing disaster that our coaches have selected him. His se,ection is the poster child for everything that is wrong with our coaching group’s philosophies on football. They’re completely ****ed.

I'm feeling the same.

I sit and watch the games and just see what look like poor efforts, a lack of team spirit and comradery.

We don't help each other off the ground, we barely sheppard, I saw a couple of blocks for Sloane Friday night but that was when the boundary umpire still had the ball, there's no desperation to smother or chase.

It feels like the players are just going through the motions.

It's all a bit robotic. And that's when other teams step up and mids are allowed to dominate.

Enough of the "our best is good enough", how about being honest and saying "actually, we're not good enough and we need to change things because we haven't played our best for 2 years"

Or it is the most games Keath has played in a season and he is fatigued.....
