He isn't a good kick and takes too long to make a decision. The play breaks down when it's in Milera's hands as he isn't instinctual and panics when surrounded in traffic.

"Panics in traffic" how much of Milera have you actually watched?

Not panicking in traffic is literally one of his traits, he tries to move through it not bomb the shit out of the ball.

I wouldn't hesitate in trading him and getting Redman in. I wouldn't play Smith either and Nankervis can easily play his role. Smith hasn't been the same since his last concussion and we should retire him early. Redman and Nank are an upgrade on Milera and Smith.
Saying that Milera is not instinctual and panics in traffic is like saying that Walker lacks an opposite foot or that Smith has no range on his kick. You're taking one of the the most obvious and undeniable strengths of a player and claiming it is a weakness. Bizarre.

Keane will come in for Murray would be my guess, this is not the week to go small. Surely we didn't chase him all the way to Ireland to not give him a crack with his rookie deal coming to an end soon
I reckon we will go small although I’d like to see a new key defender get a go to see where we are at there for next year

Keane or Borlaise

Finlayson and Marshall aren’t big contested markers so I can imagine us going small

Be very surprised if Gollant doesn’t take Fog’s spot this week , has just knocked the door down

The other smoky is Strachan , I’m not a huge fan but admit his last 2 games in sanfl been as good as any he’s played for us … prob won’t play but he’s in mix

Honestly - we all just see the game so differently at times

Then it will be a selection mistake. Keane if we were serious about bringing him all the way out from Ireland surely must come in to see what he's got re next year (contract). Borlase stiff but looking to the future I think Keane offers a fair bit more athletically especially speed and agility wise.

My changes would be Soligo for Pedlar (who's struggled recently), Laird for Hately (or Crouch), Max for Murray (assuming he doesn't get up) - this sort of depends on the weather. Gollant for Rankine (again depends if fine weather)...but I think they'll go for Ned to come in - although if it's a little greasy, I'd prefer Newchurch to get a go.

We've just lost a very talented small forward. The only other one on our list is Newchurch. Surely we need to give him a block of games to see what he can provide.
Season over and cooked.

If we dont play Newchurch now if he is available given the injuries to Rankine and Rachele then when exactly?

Season over already.. be nice if we could win but.. with Rankine out I don't give us much hope... Port by probably 5 goals
If we keep the margin to under 3 goals its a win of sorts for us.

We need to make Port earn their win against us and not roll over given our injuries and season being over.

What it should be:

IN: Laird, Newchurch, Michalanney, Soligo (McHenry)
OUT: Crouch, Rankine, Sloane, Murphy (Hately)

Berry in or Crouch holding on if Laird no good. Keane/Borlase in if Murray no good.

What it will probably be, knowing our match committee:

IN: Laird, McHenry, Michalanney,
OUT: Cook, Rankine, Nankervis, Hately (from sub), with either Cook or Nank sitting on the pine until halfway through the last as the sub.

Hately in if Laird no good, McHenry in and a smaller defence if Murray no good.

Worrell's a solid matchup for Marshall I reckon, as a sidenote. Still big on Worrell, just the concern is finding the right defensive matchup given he can't compete physically with the big boys his size and unlike Max can't really follow the little nippy ones either. Marshall as a tall guy who's not overly strong or physical works. Just need Butts/Murray I think to be able to curtail Dixon/Finlayson.

I'd like to see them have a crack with Milera forward again to cover Rankine's injury if Newchurch isn't the man. Not like-for-like, but Milera originally drafted as more of that half forward/outside mid type, and struggled there a bit, but a lot of that is the no continuity stuff. Now he's had some. And can be exposed in defence a little often, but his creativity/poise makes him a value add forward of the ball working up the field more than the average bloke put down there - which is one thing about Rankine we'll miss, but might be able to be replaced.

And Nank feels like he can do what Milera does to a similar/better level anyway.

Yep Worrell can handle Marshall. If Dixon is playing then Butts to him. Max to Finlayson.

Crouch won't be dropped. He played quite an effective game - probably his best for some time. Just watch, he'll get coach's votes!
If Laird's fit he will be dropped. Why play him when the club has already told him he isn't getting another contract. What's the point?

Wasn't Worrell on Van Rooyen yesterday? I felt that whomever it was (thought it was Worrell) got completely lost in traffic, rather than beaten by size. I stand to be corrected if it wasn't him. The one thing I saw repeated times was one of our blokes would leave their opponent to intercept (Hinge does this often) but then both our guys go to ground after the spoil (although we did take a few grabs), leaving players loose for the opposition. It's an admirable trait, as they're putting their bodies on the line, but it often seems to end up with our two players cannoning into each other. Just need to learn when to go and when not to.
