Too many people quoting Laird with Crouch and Sloane as if he’s the problem, Laird is a genuine star, it’s not his problem that we haven’t selected a good mix around him.

Laird is a high accumulating b grader with little hurt factor, he's not a star. His 30 touches are worth little more, if any, than crouch's.

Some decent moves combined with some stinkiness

Max in good
Keane debut good
Nankervis staying good

Extra defender means that we'll hopefully see Hinge on the wing. Looking forward to seeing what he could do.

Onto the stinky...

I knew they would have been in absolute raptures about Matt Crouch's reasonable outing last week. Selectors giddy with excitement. Won't miss another game this season regardless of form or team results. Our review of 2023 will be we should have picked Crouch all along and we'll right that ship next season.

Even with regressive Crouch selection, surely either Soligo or Cook could have taken Murphy's spot?

And we'd sooner fold the club than drop or even manage Sloane.

Nope I watched him alright, he stuffed two kicks maybe, did you see his 60m lace out pass to Mcadam?
He also had a couple kicks to clear defensive 50 which had to be pinpoint accurate and they were. I was impressed with his kicking. Players were passing off to him to kick it and they only do that if they trust your kicking.

Wonder if pedlar will have more midfield cba's this week in the sbsence of rankine and rachele.

I must admit i am not so downbeat with the changes as laird if fit was always in, max had a weeks rest and deserves his spot and we needed another tall defender so borlase or keane it was.

I would be wanting sloane to be a permanent forward this week..just play him in a forward pocket. Glad nank and shoenberg retained their places. I would think that we only have a few more weeks of sloane with us and likely matt crouch too..so if this is a farewell showdown for them so be it.

See for mine, if Crouch replaced Sloane I think I could (just barely) live with it. But to have both in, when Soligo and Berry are ready to go, just smacks of desperation…

Knew Murphy would retain his spot after being dropped.

Thought Cook deserved another go.
We can't drop players properly.

Drop Murphy, comes back into the side after illness, plays poorly, keeps his spot.

We did the same with Sholl.

I know some are melting over Murphy, but unfortunately the Rankine injury secured his spot until Rachele is back. Crouch ahead of Soligo is the frustrating selection, our midfield looks very slow without Soligo/Rachele/Rankine rolling through.

I’m also unfortunately not surprised about Sloane, Roo couldn’t believe it when people were questioning his spot in the side during the week.
Lol that you think Murphy will be dropped this yeae.

Meh Cook was putrid for most of the game. Probably should keep playing him but he looked at sea most of the game.

Crouch keeping his spot is mind boggling. Hopefully a loss here will see Nicks reward SANFL form for the rest of the season.
He didn't last year. He'll put out some "We're not a finals chance, but we still want to finish out the year strongly" line of reasoning.

Can’t even justify being at the ground for a game like this? *******s

A game like AFL, you need to be at the ground ....the powers say, they have a full game oval perspective, not seen on TV

bullshit.gif

What makes this more galling .....is SEN send their commentary team to Countries for Test Cricket .....now that's a game that can be commentated on from a studio

You'd think Channel 7 will do the Showdown broadcast in preference to the ESS v SYD game .....so that could be a contributing factor for Foxtel
