Sugarcoating a mediocre performance isn't helping anyone though.Spot on , over thinker and sensitive
Needs to be talked up constantly hence Ben hart giving his sanfl game a wrap when he was poor
If only...Sounds like me hey Elite Crow

True but no doubt this happens behind closed doors with JJSugarcoating a mediocre performance isn't helping anyone though.
Good managers know when & how to deliver tough messages. Weak managers avoid this & hope problems fix themselves & they inevitably get worse.

Yeah with a dummy soaked in honeyTrue but no doubt this happens behind closed doors with JJ
Each personality needs different prodding and I’m sure they know how to deal with JJ by now
Don’t completely disagree with you about the saints, however I’m not convinced we have turned a corner. We won a game we should have won no problem, but can easily see us falling into the same trap as prebious weeks. Happened too many times beforeHad a peek on he Saints board. Geez over there they think since they are sitting top that this one should be an easy game for them. Hello you have beaten 3 sides inc GC by under a kick and beat a hopeless Melbourne. You are not that good. I expect to win and win well.
Was heavily front loaded, but you're right if he doesn't perform it doesn't matter.Depends on the phasing of his contract, whether front, back or evenly loaded
He’ll be 31 next year with 2 years on his contract.
If he doesn’t perform this year he’ll be an anchor not an asset at the trade table
Didn’t know Ben Hart was on BFAlternately, their form is to keep winning close matches, and that's why they're top/second/whatever. they could easily have lost them all... and didn't
Very similar players, i often get them confused
I was waiting, if we'd lost on the weekend I was going to ask if it was time to bring the transcripts back
Didn't seem to have the desired affect last week!True but no doubt this happens behind closed doors with JJ

We don't want to lose himStill needs Fog in
...I doubt whether that's even in his thinking; but boy oh boy he does add mongrel which we lack..I keep hearing he's been learning a backline role...I don't care if he's not ready for that **** off Lynch and play the lad in his place. We could do worse. There's ways and means of getting a player out. Ask Jack Watts. Most players don't want to finish their careers in the reserves. Generally there is trigger clauses and media opportunities by playing afl. I have a feeling he was front loaded and it may be a win win end of year to trade him.Why would Jenkins consider doing that unless we heavily front loaded him?
He'd be smart enough to know his career is done at the end of this contract, why would you bother when you have guaranteed money in the reserves?

Agree. Reseving judgement until after round 8. If we are 4 4 at this point it will be not too bad. Injury is starting to hurt especially to our backline. We should get brown, seedsman, milera back in 5 to 6. I feel Don is gonna have to start injecting some youth into the team regardless of results. We are an aging team and the quicker we get games into kids the better they can get up to speed for next years assault.Don’t completely disagree with you about the saints, however I’m not convinced we have turned a corner. I don't think it will come to that. I think we will only have to pay 150-200k tops. Swans would be a good destination for Josh. Need another big forward after tippett retirement. Can do his Nfl work up there. Pick in the 30's would be a good result. Could possibly combine that with Carlton's 2nd which should be around pick 20 for a pick upgrade. That alongside pick 1 to 3 would be a better result. It would then possibly give us more currency to trade in a key player such as a grundy or rankine as well.Of course, there is always a way. It just gets harder the worse a contract is, and the closer to the end a player is. Especially with someone who already has all the media opportunities he needs, and is contracted.
The best we may be able to do is just pay him out of the rest of his contract, though that is firmly in uncharted waters.

Upon reflection swans probably won't go for him. Melbourne could be a fit. Stuffed without Hogan. Maybe they are delusional and still think they are in the premiership window. Likely paying out the contract may be the end result. Hopefully was majorly front ended first 3 years. What would be the purpose for the Swans? they're much closer to a rebuild then being a contender. Jenkins would be a waste of time for them.
The only way you could justify picking up Jenkins is if you were planning on going balls deep into a premiership run, and needed a cheap key forward to fill a gap.
Demons ?? Goodwin will think he can do a Bernie Vince on him. What would be the purpose for the Swans? they're much closer to a rebuild then being a contender. Jenkins would be a waste of time for them.

What possible value would JJ have? 31 next season coming off a likely career worst season?
The time to trade him for value was when Brisbane were starved of a forward and came sniffing - could have traded him for a premium. Secret wasn’t out back then
Instead we give a 5 year deal.
2 years earlyThe value would be just getting that money off our salary cap a year early, and opening up a position.

JJ is so used to being on the end of our fast ball movement, he actually has no idea how to impact a match without that type of ball movement. When JJ got his rib injury early against the Hawks at the G in 2017 we scored more points with 21 players than our average with JJ and the full rotations prior. While out, we averaged more points without JJ than with. It’s a small sample, but it’s the only sample. He’s a recipient of everyone else’s performance not a creator of our performance. He was a fair bit different last year, but he’s regressed to being an even poorer version of his usual downhill skiing type this year. Lynch not far behind as a pure downhill skier, and that’s where Sanders and I disagree vehemently.
Oh right, 2021 contract.
Jesus that Jenkins contract is a mess right now.
