I would be shocked if we hadn't circled this game after the last time. JL will want to redeem himself and the players will come out breathing fire. This will be a ****ing line in the ****ing sand, massive statement game from us. A coming of age as a club. Bookmark it.

I'm not sure of the 'Coming of Age' stuff against the likes of the Saints. The last game was a mix of Lyon tactics that met a team that didn't rock up..

Interview with Heath Chapman played on ABC Extra Time tonight he was asked if Alex Pearce had been involved with running at training, all he replied was that he's been running on the Alter G Treadmill.

"Coming of age" is usually when you smash the hard to beat teams and never look back. Beating the saints would and should be the bullying we do to minnows. Also be nice to erase that smirking Lyon faced imprinted in my brain.

Out: Previous meetings form
In: Shai pointing at the scoreboard when we're 60 points up at half time.

Id be shocked if the Saints aren't thinking something very similar about travelling to Perth. Their last visit saw them pantsed by the Eagles only 2 weeks after smashing freo at Marvel. That would hurt and Ross would be reminding them of that. In saying that, if we cant beat the stints at home then we can stop talking about top 4... or even top 8 for that matter.

Just reading through your thread, curious as to why some of you guys are so keen to get Darcy back in?
Freo look so much better with Jackson as a solo and I could be wrong but your record with Jackson solo is better than with Darcy?
I know it was against a rookie but Jackson’s game last week was one of the best I’ve seen In years form any ruck.

he was up against a baby debutant, Marshall is the second or third best ruck in the comp and a huge unit

completely different situation

We lose against North if Darcy doesn’t play. As good as Jackson was against a debutant he was completely bullied by Xerri

I feel like this is one of those times where complete hyperbole is warranted. There is no coming back from losing this game. Teams don't play at their best for whatever reason week to week but we are at home, against a worse side and should be frothing for revenge.

If they don't win either / or:
1) JL is completely spanked by Ross AGAIN
2) A critical mass of the players don't have the competitiveness required for professional sport.

Now, I believe in the boys so Im extremely confident they'll win but it is a strangely season and career defining game for mine.

I don’t want to see rolling scrums all game. That’s playing on their terms not ours.
Easier said than done but that there is key.

We play well against good teams because they trust in their game plan and let us play ours. The scrubber sides try to undo us - with sustained pressure and defensive tactics generally - and if we can’t play our way, we dont really have a plan B.

I think both Serong and Slayshaw will cop a tag and heaps of physicality.

Jacko in the guts will help. Tag that, Ross, you rolled-gold campaigner of a man.

Otherwise it’s just be fast, clean and relentless. Class should out.

I wouldn’t say “completely bullied,” more “not allowed to freely use the magnificent physical gifts God has bestowed upon him” but the five minutes we played good footy and piled on enough goals to win were the five minutes Darcy spanked the living bejesus out of Xerri. Just monstered the monster.

Some of us agree with you... Jackson is in career best form and is better as a solo ruck, but the club has invested in so much money to make the two ruck strategy work that not doing it is admitting defeat.

Big decision to be made at the end of the season, maybe if Darcy gets a few more games into him his trade value goes up a bit?

Young 4-5 weeks as of last week, seems awfully early to be rejoining drills if he's still a month out..

Is this another case of overstating return time like we did with Narkle and Walker?
It might be the normal time for that type of op but hearing Young in an interview last week he said he was ahead of schedule so he might shave a week or so off that which will be exciting as we will need him in the last part of the season

Don't rush back a bloke who keeps doing a hammy. We want those toothpicks loose and limber and more relaxed than Snoop Dog's eyelids.

And then we want Youngy firing left-foot bullets straight onto the teats of Vossy, Trace and Amiss, nailing those dudes and forcing them to turn and kick straight for glory.

Grab the occasional snagger yourself, Youngy. Maybe make Shai get a bit jelly and transform into Showtime Shai.

if Fyfe goes down again with a hammy or similar that’ll be it so having him play as much as possible until that happens will be the plan. His improvement upside skills wise and timing wise will be significant should he play continuously because he’s coming from so far back. It might just be a cameo for the ages come finals time if he is tip top.

Ross will not doubt put Windhager as a hard tag on Serong this week. I want Darcy in the ruck so Jackson can smash the clearances and also put some body into Windhager.

I wouldn't be averse to getting Fyfe to physically work Windhager over (legally) at every possible opportunity. If he gets a week off for unduly rough play it won't be the worst use of his strength.

I don't want to see us bullied like we were the last Saints game.

This is why I'd like to see Nat start the game this week - he'll be prepared to sacrifice himself to help free up Serong, Brayshaw et al.
