Cameron doesn't go, anyone suggesting that must be high.
It'll be Greenwood for Thommo.
Milera stays in. He doesn't get a lot of ball but he's all class.

Eventually Lynch comes back probably for D Mac and I'd like to see Seed and Doedee but won't hold my breath. Otten and Kelly were very solid all night so deserve their spot.

Some faith, not all was restored last night. Let's hope we payback Melbourne next week.
Cameron is on the edge, and almost entirely for his own sake. He looks devoid of all confidence and watching from behind the goals, he's even 2nd guessing himself in going for a contest.

Easy-peasy ...

OUT - Thommo, Milera, Mackay
IN - Greenwood, Doedee, Gallucci

Doedee takes Smith's role, and Smith moves to wing / mid.

I don't expect Lynch to come up this week, and travel to NT to play. Might even need a run in SANFL to make sure he is right for the top flight.

Ha! Tell him he's dreaming

It will be Milera for Greenwood and that's it...'can't change a winning side too much'

I called him to come in after our soft performance against the hawks I was totally surprised by the greenwood Thommo call but looks as though it wasn't a bad one given they wanted Greenwood rested

So some stupid thread questioning selection seems quite irrelevant

The coaches and selection committee can only be judged on results

Where are we on the ladder? Best in bizz by the look of it

Shows we have the best recruiters. Tip of the ladder. No better.

I think I'd drop CC before Milera. He looks totally out of it. Gave away two very dumb frees that smacked of frustration. His head isn't where we need it to be.
Playing angry and frustrated. Something is going on with him or in his life

Very true best recruiters best coaches campo included best players

It's the only true measure of where you are against your competitors

I have to concede I don't play favs like some

So you were ok that Cameron played disinterested & mind was clearly not on the game?

The "SANFL doesn't improve young players" is a pretty odd argument, IMO. I guess Gallucci, Poholke, Jarman and co are just treading water at the moment?

Sure there might be more benefit from playing the AFL, but it is silly to say young players (or any player out of form) don't benefit from a run in the SANFL - Kelly's game doesn't seem to have been hurt from his time there last year.

The real argument is about who is our best 22, and if Milera (or any other player out of form - eg CC) is not in that at the moment whether we can afford to carry them because of development/potential. We would play Gallucci and Poholke as well if we were good enough to carry them - but obviously, we're not.

The other argument is if we think playing Gallucci or Poholke (or Doedee) because of their development who do we drop, and is the cost-benefit worth it - both short and long term.

Over the past 3 weeks Smith has rediscovered his very best form so I would be hesitant in moving Smith from
hB

I shouldn't be surprised that people are still saying Pyke did the right thing selecting thommo cos we won by 10 goals.

What a waste of a game that could have gone to any of our kids - yet again pisssing away games on has beens.

Fancy getting a few games into our youngsters in case we need them for the finals.

Looks like we are hell bent on winning the title for the club who plays the least amount of players for the year again.
Imo, we would have been better off giving Polholke a debut game rather than playing a cooked Thommo.

He is back to playing HBF & some wing, like he was when playing his best footy.

Was just jogging around avoiding the contest most of the time.

Cleary has an issue & was one of our passengers last night.

Very un-Cameron like.

On CC, I'm starting to get in the camp of "I think we've seen what he will be".

We've spent a couple years saying "all he needs is another 5 possessions each week", but it just is not happening.

In 63 games he has only had more than 17 disposals FIVE times. And in this season alone he has had more games (3) with fewer than 11 disposals than he has had with more than 17 (2).

The one good improvement is his goal kicking - this season he has had 5 games where he has kicked 2+ goals - equal with the number he had last year. But when you recall that in 2015 he had 9 such games, I don't see a big improvement over time.

My fear is his ceiling is lower than we thought it was at the end of 2015. I worry he is always going to be very, very good in small patches, but small patches only.

Unless he starts playing in the midfield, I see no prospect for change.

I'm not sure that was the case. I tend to not profess to know what was or wasn't going through other people's minds.
Let's see how he backs up next week before passing judgement
You obviously couldn't have been at the game as you could tell he was not switched on all game.

Didn't need to be a mind reader to observe Charlie's mind was not on the job.

Whether he worried about his wrist or family issues, who knows, but it is affecting his performance.

I was definitely there...froze with 5 layers on.
Regardless, he probably is struggling if the family rumours have any truth but I'd hope he'd be professional enough to play his role and I'd hope his line coach would remind him of that too.
CC has never been a big stat getter but I still saw his aggression in the tackle which is what we need from him and his breaking of lines.
I guess time will tell if something is troubling him.

I wonder too

I don't see that he's taken the next step this year - basically the same as last year but with an extra possession and back to his 2014 / 2015 goal average... but he's clearly under some mental duress at the moment, and I'd say he has been for a month at least.

I was going to say, wait til he's played 50 games!... but he's played 63

Cameron was great in the midfield but since early in the season we haven't played him there. Think he needs a lot more midfield time if he's ever going to be more than a second string low disposal small forward

After watching first half sanfl:
Only 1 change for Dees.
Out: Thompson
In: Greenwood
