O'Meara's game yesterday was better than any of the 23 games Erasmus has played at AFL level.

Erasmus looked out of his depth in pre-season games where everyone is in 3rd gear.
I have been reporting how well he has been training and the stats look ok but I felt he was poor and can remember him directly hand balling to the opposition on 3 separate occasions. He is experienced and should do better.

Its time to play brodie. I dont care about modern day running stats. We can afford to have 1 player who isnt an elite runner.

If we are going to play a handball happy play style why would we not play our best handballer? Im not sure if its because he was a KPF but Jlo seems to think that handballing isnt a skill. That its simple and theres no reason why everyone cant do it well, then wonders why we go to putty under pressure. Brodie handballs with purpose, range, vision, accuracy.

Brodie would be good purely for structure, but if I had my way, unless he seriously improves and adds another layer to his game, I don't want him in the team.

If you have to bring a midfield player in, just bring in Erasmus.

Everyone or anyone thay wants Brodie has to tell me they've watched him at Peel first. And then I want an explanation as to why you think his effort there is good enough to get a recall
I watched the scratchie yesterday yeah Brodie and Ras has plenty of the ball probably more than there opponents and yet the Perth mids were better because they used it better and were more damaging, i agree with others regarding Ras you can’t play him as sub he’s not an impact player ditto Brodie.

Unfortunately think you are right , Ras needs to play as the run with blocker IE let him negate Heeney

If he fails in that role then it is cutains as he has not got that initial burst leg speed

Brodie for his size cant take an overhead mark and is just average with disposal skills

Fear they are both WAFL players at best as is Reidy (the nit wit that delisted Knobel instead of Reidy should be sacked, surely that has to be Walls as he is list mgr ?) I wish a journo had the balls to ask that question to Garlick instead of all the usual soft ones

Of those 23 games, 14 have been as sub or subbed off if my googling is correct. So 9 full games. He’s never been given a run at it. Not sure pre season games mean much.

The ones where he was subbed off suggest he was struggling?

In the Essendon game last year the Bombers were looking to go through his direct opponent because Erasmus was terrible.

2022 suggests Brodie is able to contribute at AFL level.

O'Driscoll is better suited to the wing with stints on ball.

Fyfe and Young are injured, we need another midfielder in the 22.

We just lost by 78 points and if it wasn't for an 8 minute burst from a debutant it would have been 100. If that's acceptable in year 9 of a rebuild and you'd rather play the kids and have a rookie coach at the helm in 2026 that's up to you but I'd be playing the likes of Brodie, Voss and Aish this week and trying to win some games before the cavalry arrive.

We were bullied by Geelong, it was embarrassing.

2022 shows that Brodie's best is good at AFL level.

Every game that Erasmus has played suggests he's a waste of a top 10 pick and won't make it at AFL level.

Agree with all that especially Knobel.

Imagine if Knobel makes it at AFL level and we have to watch Knobel and Meek play well for other clubs then Jackson requests a trade back to Victoria........

It's really concerning that 2 full time footballers that were top 10 picks and stand around 190cm and 90kg were beaten by a bunch of plumbers, electricians, school teachers, etc.

3 years is a long time. He is even worse defensively, like, the guy doesn't give a shit and just jogs or walks around once someone other than him wins a ball.

It's honestly embarrassing watching. He would make it worse

It felt like as soon as it became clear he wasn’t in the b22 he stopped trying. Like his body language isn’t a guy doing everything he can to try and earn his spot back. It’s a guy who’s stopped trying almost out of spite. You kicked me out of the team so I’m just gonna do the bare minimum while I’m still contracted for two more years

I wonder if Champion Data have stats on players whose turnovers/clangers most often lead to goals? If they did, I would think Walker is right up there. If I am JL, I am dropping Walker. JL can't afford to have favourites if he wants to survive the year.
Dead right,Walker has been doing my head in for years. The protection he gets on this site is unbeleviable.I wish someone would put together a Lowlights reel of his clangers,Turnovers Holding the ball etc etc and then maybe people would wake up.I could not see him getting a game in any other afl side, Vanilla to the extreme.Drop him to Peel to learn the basics of the game .AFL is not just being able to run Quickly.

Our team selection could be draining their motivation. Aish as well.

In theory it would be nice to see them bust their hump no matter what, but they are still human, and it must be deflating to see guys like Worner and Banfield get unwarranted games. Plus Murphy Reid go straight past them.

Brodie and Aish would feel it is almost certain they will never play AFL again, and Erasmus might be getting the same feeling.

I mentioned this earlier. Brodie shows no two way running. That means defensively at stoppages he is a liability. Sure he gets his hands on the pill and flicks out a nice handball here and there. When it comes to kicking close your eyes because it is a mixed bag of flourbags and scrubber kicks.

As Snuff mentioned he applies nil pressure and runs around half paced.

Erasmus has improved and has elite fitness. Unfortunately he takes a second or two too long to make a decision. He also needs some game time either WAFL or AFL to get his game going.

I didn’t see the Peel game yesterday but suspect Erasmus will be ready after a few full games provided he speeds up his decision making. Up until yesterday he played bits and pieces for a few weeks. I’d like to see him develop his forward craft. He actually takes a decent overhead mark.

Aish is out of favour at the moment but a few good weeks at WAFL he will be in the mix. Seems he has moved to HBF.

Wagner for mine is ahead of of Aish and Worner due to his run, carry and ball use.

If we actually selected some midfielders to replace the three we lost, then you could play NOD on the wing where he is best suited. Novel idea I know but Freo dont seem to do obvious.
Aish is a winged/mid fill in. Legit the perfect versatility guy.

Erasmus is there.

9 defenders. Bonkers.

2022 Brodie is perfectly fine.
Don’t think there’s been an upgrade since.
JOM? Meh.
Johnson? Same same.

Seriously wrong if Brodie can’t get a game with such a midfield

Two way running? The whole midfield got smashed on Saturday in that area. Fitness issue?

I actually wonder whether they have been pushed too hard. Lots of comments about the hardest pre-season ever. They looked lethargic.

Brodie has never had a tank and never will he get one. In this modern age midfielders that can’t consistently make each contest will struggle. At Peel you see him jogging up late to arrive to the ruck contests. When the opposition spread the ball from a contest Brodie runs around half arsed applying zero pressure.
