For starters premierships are not won in May, it is all about timing your form at the end of the season. For now it is all about the W and as many as we can get regardless of how it's done. Forget about haters, we are still 4-3, and let me remind everyone, 2 of those wins were against pies(away) and Giants. Competition should be terrified that we are playing this bad still grabbing 4 wins. mid season we get TB,Nic nat and rioli back as well. Our form cannot possibly get worse, it can only get better. So, let's just see how we go next 5, hopefully win 4 out of 5 and we will be fine.

Probably right but 2 rucks, 2 kpf won us a flag. I don't know why we aren't backing in that combination.
Hickey being unavailable the following week is just an extra kick in the nuts.

I've been backing Masto in all year but he needs to get stronger in contests or just **** off. Dead set a liability in marking contests 1v1 or winning a grounball against his opponent. I've seen him do ok at that last year and a few years back but his efforts are hurting us.
I rather see Duggan used as a wingmen if masto's efforts don't improve.

An issue as I see at the moment is the 2 rucks and OAllen simply makes us too tall up front, especially when JD and JK are added to the mixer.
Rioli's eventual return will give this board and others an indication of what the MC are thinking. I suspec LeCras retirement is hurting more than most suspect. That is not to say we need to go backwards but we are still looking for a suitable replacement for LeCras - OAllen is not the fit we are chasing.

Venables and Vardy are obvious outs. Really out of form, especially vards.
Hickey obvious in.
Rotham should come in for a defender. Cole, duggan and schoey all flirting with being dropped. Schoey survives due to structure so Rotham for either of the others.
MAllen for Venables even though it won't quite be the same role MA is used to.

Oscar Allen looks a talent but is close to needing a spell. I think he survives because four changes is too many for now. Waterman the likely in if that change happens, but maybe a small would be better - does feel like we are a bit tall when we play two rucks, although whilst Vardy is in this form the two rucks setup needs to be abandoned.
There's too many who's positions should be far from concrete. Obviously everyone already mentioned are in the gun but Masten, Petreculle, Cripps and Ryan are lucky there are others to take the heat off them. (Petrols still got credits from the port game, but hasn't done loads else before or since).
That's ten players who couldn't complain too loudly if they were dropped. Far too many for a side that considers itself a contender.

Reverting back to carrying Vardy so he can get his 15 hitouts and a few touches is a big step backwards.
We all know we'll eventually be playing 2 when Nicnat returns, but right now we're getting more out of having another runner IMO.

The Saints are the team best suited to playing two rucks against. Neither Marshall (currently being played) or Longer (might replace him) are world-beaters, and they’re playing Blake Acres as the Grigg-style backup.
Playing Vardy in his current lack of form as the forward-ruck would be shooting ourselves in the foot.

yeah Vardy needs to go. seriously a crap tap ruckman needs to either find the ball around the ground or make an impact in the when ball hist the deck.
He needs to go back to the 2's and work on that side of his game. Play with some genuine intent and be prepared to throw his weight around like Nic Nat and even Lycett when the ball hits the deck.

Marshall is actually good. he's got coaches votes in a few games now (Have watched a few of their games too). Longer is a spud.
Hope we play Hickey if fit but just the one ruck for mine.

The biggest problem we have had this year is replacing Le Cras, like for like. Playing Allen in his role makes us too tall as Allen is not a roaming forward like Le Cras. Of course if Willy was fit he would obviously be able to play a similar role that Le Cras used to play. At the moment we are missing both Willy and Barrass and with so many players out of form of course that doesn't help. Would just love to see the players put in for 4 quarters.

Defenders almost always look second-rate, and I rate Cole and Duggan, when the ball comes in quickly or when there are spare opposition players running amok upfield. If the defenders are 'under performing' first you need to look upfield to what is happening, or not happening, there.

Given that Hickey couldn't get up for the following game after rucking solo, I think we might see them continue to play both Vardy and Hickey
Its the percentage that worries me more as IMO percentage does tell a story and we are 13th on the ladder percentage-wise which obviously means there are only 5 teams worse than us which as I said previously is a worry. We need some big wins to compensate and improve our percentage as otherwise it could bite us on the *** at seasons end.

Fair enough. But the other side of the coin to that was when we were sitting on 180%( not this year, and i am exaggerating) ppl were saying we are not getting tested during games and getting tested would be good for us come finals, AKA flat track bullies. This is a never ending convo, you can never please everyone. The only thing that matters more than anything thing else is wins and big W shuts everyone up. Hypothetically, if we win every game from now on to the end by a single point, percentage will not matter anymore. I happily take 3 wins in a row by margin of 10 points and 4th win by 55 points. that gives us 4 wins in a row and a little percentage. PPl expected us to go from getting belted by 10 goals and win by 10 goals in a matter of days. that is 20 goals turnaround. It is very hard to do.and it is not realistic mainly because of Masten
I know we were only playing Gold Coast and all of our midfielders were more prolific than the last few weeks but was Sheed playing less time up forward?
