Smith in the wing gets a big thumbs up if it happens.

Interesting who will be the sub, Jaensch might be the one. Can't see them making Vince sub again.
Carlton have name Armfield at CHB. i know it's a different club but it highlight the accuracy of the lineups once they run out.

the sooner they just name a squad alphabetically/numerically the better.

Ravenous Crow

Not to mention Sadomasochism did also say that Bling would play plenty of footy for us this year however than promotes a Rookie who plays the same role as Bling

Not saying promoting Laird was not the right decision, all I'm highlighting is the mixed messages
Coaches are the masters of mixed messages, they all do it. Look at Scott Watters saying the current Saints team could be a juggernaut this season, and then only weeks later they are in a 'rebuild'.

Sando is blooding plenty of younger players this year, and a lot of the senior blokes who have been around for a while are making way. Lyons is stiff, but I'm sure he knows the exact reasons why he isn't in the side.

Yeah, the positions players are named in these days mean jack shit with modern zones at the like.

Surely Vince is only in for Crouch. Jaensch looks a likely vest man. Is Kerridge quick enough for Yarran?
Depending on where Yarran plays, I'd like to see Wright on him. If Yarran lines up in the backline it means we can play Wright as a HFF who knows how to be defensively minded and hurt Yarran the other way. Should Yarran start in the forward line then possibly someone else.

I thought Kerridge came in for Van Berlo so wouldn't he be more likely to follow Judd/Murphy?

I reckon Vince has got one shot. If he puts in a half arsed effort Sando will send him packing, possibly for good.
I reckon you are spot on. If anyone has watched Sando talk recently, he isn't happy with Bernie at all. He obviously wants a fit and firing Bernie, so bringing him back after a dominant game in the SANFL is him hoping that he can translate that back to the AFL. However, another poor performance and Lyons will come in, bookmark it.

Exactly right I think a great deal of fans are picturing young Lyons preparing the trade papers and texting Tiprat, however in reality the coaches and those required would be communicating with him and he would know exactly what is going on. He in no way, at this level, would be waiting for the team to be realesed to the media and cursing Vince to the Ardrossan 3rds!

So not only are we retaining Porps and Mackay despite doing **** all this season, but we bring back the softest, biggest downhill skiier on our list after just one week.

Oh that's right they played in the side that missed the grand final last year by less than a kick (which is rapidly becoming the club's favourite catch cry), so therefore they are sure to play really really really good this time around.

Lyons might as well start looking for another club - like most young people in Adelaide there is no opportunity for him here. Likewise for Riley, Martin, Johnston and Grigg.

Carlton by 10 goals.

EDIT: misread the selections, didn't see that Porps was out.

He signed a 2 year contract extension towards the end of last year. So unless he has had a massive change of heart since then (which I find highly unlikely), he'll be at the Crows next season. Beyond that, who knows, but he'll get his chance soon enough.

Ummmm, Porps was dropped... good rant though, well thought out.

Also, our side was less experienced and younger than the Bulldogs last week, and they are in a rebuild, we are in the hunt for a flag. You can't just play a team of youngsters, otherwise expect GWS and GC type thumpings each week.

you cant just play a team of youngsters, thats true.

my problem with playing Vince over Lyons is that we know what we'll get from Vince. He's a seasoned performer now and has proven to be not good enough this season so far.

Lyons on the other hand has had better or at least equal form as Vince did in the SANFL last week, for much much longer, and we dont know what he'll give us at AFL level.

we've chosen a guy who's recent history tells us will underperform over a guy that could be anything.

I'm going to put some vegemite on my toast as clearly I'm not allowed to care about the Crows selection.

I must blindly follow and trust selection.

Settle people. Talks of Bernard's demise have been premature.

I hope you're right, I'm just not convinced, excuse the pun, that he's suddenly gained form by one good outing at SANFL level. Vince could trot around at 50% and still dominate SANFL. Hell he trots around at AFL level at about that and is still a reasonable player.

I want Vince at 100%, I'd rather play a slightly lesser player now, if it meant giving Vince a good run at SANFL level now to ensure that when he did come back it was the Vince of 2009. In 2009 he looked like he could win a Brownlow one day, since then, except for the very odd occasion, he's looked like a guy who's quite content with being an "okay" AFL footballer.

Sando says Vince was dropped to find form, apparently he found it in one game. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think with Vince, as was the case with Johncock, that 1 good game in the SANFL proves jack-squat.

I love hearing the argument from those saying Lyons is too inexperienced. Where is he actually supposed to purchase this "experience" from? Is it available at the AFL store, because I thought the only way to get it was to play? People didn't seem to have a problem with playing Crouch this week, but now that he's out, the don't want to bring the older Lyons in?

And don't get me started on Vince's re-selection...

I think it is case of firing a couple of shots across the bow,

If he doesnt change trajectory (and not temporarily) he may find himself on the outer and needing an extended stint of hight quality SANFL and Training before he can call himself an AFL player again.

I was just as pissed about Lyons missing out behind Bernie as anyone, but as others have said, you can't play all the youngsters in 1 go, unless you're GC or GWS

We already have Brown, Kerridge, Laird, Jaensch and Crouch (damn hamstring!) gaining experience, lets not over do it. In saying that, Lyons for Crouch is pretty much like for like.......

But my take on it:

I reckon Sando has told Vince this is it. More laziness and **** ups and you're gone.

If we were playing GWS or GC, i reckon Lyons would've got the nod, but its a pretty important game in terms of our season. We need a win and Bernie has done it before in big games. This game will tell Sando and the selection panel if Bernie wants to play AFL or if he will be assigned to the scrap heap. Its all about how he wants to play

Cmon Bernie, don't let us down

Disappointed that Lyons didn't get a game before Bernie. He played at the level when he played last year. Vince better play out of his skin on Saturday and keep it up or get used to wearing an Eagles jumper. Wonder if Stiffy and Callinan have played their last games for the club.

Bernie's selection is a good move. Quality and experience can't be questioned. One mediocre game from Vince is better than any newbie's 8 touches. Too many newbies all at once is a recipe for disaster....but the hysteria has been entertaining. :)

i was frothing at the mouth at vince being an inclusion ahead of Lyons. then the unlikely voice of reason spoke to me and i realised that a 20 possie game from Vince will be seen as a failure. a 20 possie game from Lyons would be a triumph.

since we're trying to win this game of footy, Vince should play*

so you say Lyons will get his chance soon. What possible scenario can you see now that would get Lyons a chance "very soon"? is there a mid season trade period now?

***** me i'd still have Lyons in ahead of him though.

One of our other inexperienced players getting an injury or losing form.
