****ing Pyke ****ing Campo ****ing Mackay ****ing Jenkins ****ing useless hacks ****ing Burton ****ing Hartigan ****ing Kelly ****ing Hart ****ing Crows ****s. Bloody ****ing complacent mother****ing unaccountable ****s

Sorry blew my load a bit early there.

Does anyone else think it's obvious (from their media appearances) Jenkins and Walker haven't been spoken to seriously about their performances? It concerns me they wouldn't know they're on a knife edge. Jenkins seems to only be guessing because of Gibbs. It seems the coaches aren't communicating and the the players are on different pages. That's really concerning to me.

I doubt that either of those 2 are on a knife edge. I'm drunk and have been hanging around the politics thread, but I highly doubt that either of those 2 are any chance of being dropped this week. Pyke only dropped Gibbs to send a message, it's been sent, there'll be no more high profile droppings for a bit.

Apologies, I'm a few pages behind and just saw this, which is astonishing:

1) it's a reminder to all of us, not just Pyke, of how important he is :rolleyes::rolleyes: (<== like poker machine reels). JJ's in the leadership group, folks. He's a big deal.
2) "Don't drop me Don", because
--- see 1) above and
--- "I can't inspire and lead the senior side from the SANFL".

That's wrong, on many counts. JJ's weak form warrants a spell in the SANFL, along with a few others like Mackay, Hartigan, Lynch, Murphy (**below). IF JJ was dropped but wants to lead and inspire, the best he could do is work his butt off, kick a lot of goals (including those from 5m out ) and EARN his place back in the AFL side.
Yeah, not likely.

** btw, they don't all have to be dropped at once eg bring back Gibbs, drop Mackay. If Mackay's replacement performs and he's crap in the SANFL too, drop Lynch and so on. I can't see anything wrong with dropping up to three underperforming players, until Pyke finds a stable, hard-nut, mongrel-winning mix. The message would be:
Play well and you're in, and stay in as long as you're playing well (do your job).
Play badly more often than not (eg JJ, Mackay, Lynch, Hartigan et al) and you're out. Walker does not make the list because I just can't see them dropping the co-Captain, even if his form needs it.

It's not just him. After VB got dropped after his selection cost us a round 1 win against the Roos back in 2016, he returned about half way through the year. On AA upon being recalled, despite being a non-AFL quality performer he actually mentioned that he was one of only 2 defenders in the leadership group and so it was up to him and Talia to provide leadership down back, the implication being that nobody else could. It's not just JJ, it's a cultural infestation in our club that has been around well before the famous "non-statistical" roles. We find ways to keep under-performing long-termers in the 22. Be it continuity, experience, running patterns or any other bullshit reason. Our selection culture actively chooses to go with a lesser side to keep long term players in the 22 regardless of form or what is best for the club.
