This is another point. I think that was a mistake. Gibbs, while being a quality player, is a guy that you can go head to head with and win the battle. If you let Judd run free you will get torn to shreds. So Kerridge not tagging Judd in the first half therefore allowing Judd to run amok and set up the game is the fault of playing youth or the fault of the coach for not tagging Judd from the get go? Kerridge did well on Judd in the second half which once again blows your argument to apart.
No doubt I watched the game through anit-Vince tinted glasses, which makes objective analysis of his match a bit tough haha. My top 5 would be Otten, Sloane, Douglas, Thommo and Dangerfield, with Talia and Lynch unlucky to miss. Hard to argue against Vince's stats though. That's the thing, everyone on here will see his game differently depending on your view of his selection. He was one of our very few players last night that I felt confident having the ball with, his disposal was very good as it usually is. I had our top 5 as Otten, Sloane, Dougie, Vince and Thommo, do you see that differently?

I will be absolutely amazed if Porps isn't rushed straight back in next week.Out: Mackay, Brown, Walker
![]()
In: Lyons, Johnston, McKernan
Not sure what to make of Porplyzia's omission, given he hasn't had a Westies game to find form after seemingly being dropped.
Riiigggght, so there's no correlation between GC/Melbourne/GWS having the youngest & least experienced teams - and their complete inability to be competitive against any but the worst teams in the competition?with all due respect, these team age/experience comparisons are a load of crap ......has no bearing on outcomes
However the stats of age/games played for winning GF sides has stood the test of time
I feel there's possibly more than meets the eye with this situation, Porps was not a happy man in the most recent games he played. Definitely has the potential to leave a sour taste in the mouth of supporters if Porps is brought back in lieu of a genuine tall marking option.I will be absolutely amazed if Porps isn't rushed straight back in next week.
How long til Sando starts trotting out the old Craig "training form" standard?
As long as you understand thatRiiigggght, so there's no correlation between GC/Melbourne/GWS having the youngest & least experienced teams - and their complete inability to be competitive against any but the worst teams in the competition?
Melbourne get a dishonorable mention, because their inept coaching (frequently directed to lose by the instructions from board level) haven't helped their cause either.
Of course there's a correlation. As players get older they get stronger physically and more consistent in their output. By the time they get to the age of 25 most of them have survived the weeding process - they either have 150+ games, or they've been delisted. The end result is that these teams generally perform at a much higher level than those with younger & less experienced age profiles. There is a very strong correlation at work here.
The upside of playing kids is that they learn and develop, progressing to become the mature talent which keeps the AFL alive. The downside is that they are frequently inconsistent and more easily pushed off the ball, beaten by larger and older players. Kerridge's game is a classic example - last week he had 14 disposals, this week he had 3. Next week he'll probably have 16 or 18 - that's the inconsistency and excitement that comes with playing the kids.
We lost this game first and foremost in the middle, so what can we do to fix that? Can we afford to persevere with Jacobs in his current form?
LJ for Tex is obvious. The biggest problem I have is that I can't see any players outside the team who would make it stronger.
We saw the downside of youth tonight, with our young small defenders being carved up by Carlton's small forwards. Kerridge was given a masterclass by Judd. The absence of VB really hurt us.
Lyons continues to demand selection, but who drops out and why? I see his selection as reward for good form, but not materially improving the team.
I have absolutely no problem with that concept at all.As long as you understand that
Player X who has played 150 games does not necessarily equal Player Y who has also played 150 games
It's not exactly a like for like swap though, is it? Mackay is generally regarded as one of the quicker players in the Crows team - a team which is frequently criticised for being too slow. Lyons allegedly can't get a game because he's too slow - which begs the question just how slow he is, given that the Crows aren't exactly noted for being a quick side (Dangerfield & Henderson duly noted)? You raise a valid point, Vader but don't you think Lyons form over the past year warrants selection for McKay.
His whole career? Who knows? He's certainly been selected on that basis right now.Surely we can turn McKay into a tagger. And are you saying that kerridge is going to play out his entire career as a tagger. Talk about pigeon holing a player.
I like this side & was thinking the same about going tall.FF: Jaensch - Johnston - McKernan
HF: Vince - Jenkins - Douglas
C: Mackay - Thompson - Henderson
HB: Smith - Talia - Reilly
FB: Otten - Rutten - Laird
1st: Jacobs - Dangerfield - Sloane
Int: Kerridge - Lyons - Lynch
Sub: Wright
In: Lyons - Johnston - McKernan
Out: Walker - Brown - Petrenko
Take your trolling somewhere else you muppett. Hopefully you can beat us without another mammoth armchair ride champ!Hopefully he gets rubbed out, will make for a more enjoyable game.
Reilly had 1 tackle. Trailed his player all day and had efficiency of 65 with 14 uncontested possessions (7 marks as well). What the **** is wrong with him?
His whole career? Who knows? He's certainly been selected on that basis right now.
As for Mackay.. I don't think he has the attributes that make a good tagger. But that's just my opinion. Feel free to differ.
How bad in Dangerfield knee?
Should he be rested until he is ready to go or should he pay as a full time forward and taken out of the midfield?
Smack kicks 5...against Sturt. Johnson kicks 7...against Sturt. Johncock kicks 7...against Sturt. I don't live in SA and am not really up on the SANFL but I'm starting to think that kicking a bag against Sturt is about as reliable an indication of form as, say, beating the Bulldogs by 8 goals.Surely we'll play McKernan and Johnston together from now on if Walker has long term damage. May only have been Sturt but Smack's five goals makes him pickable, finally.
