how the hell are we in the 8?
We're working on it!

In reality some very ordinary teams will finish 6-8.

Apart from the first quarter Richmond were utterly dreadful as well.

Tough week at the selection table.

Quite simply Jenkins needs a big kick up the backside, or just a rest, he's playing like my grandmother at the moment.

Out: Jenkins In: Johnston - Podsiadly can 2nd ruck, he can't be worse than Jenkins, who averages less than 3 hit outs a game.

Out: Henderson. In: Laird. Not quite like for like, but Henderson is a deadset liability at the moment

Out: Mackay In: Crouch - Has earned it.

Out: Thompson/Shaw In: Rutten - Need him back.

The rest get a reprieve. Wright as sub.

I want us to play good footy. No reactive selections.

Hendo has had long enough to try to find form. He can be an out.

Wasn't convinced that Shaw should have been an in.

Mackay out injured.

From there we need Laird in. It is stupid leaving him in the SANFL. 42 touches is not developing him further. He is already AFL standard.

M Crouch. Likewise needs to come in for the last 2 games.

If Rutten is fit he should come back for North. He'll help with composure in the back line. We aren't doing any better without him. His presence might help settle LT.

(Thommo in if fit. Shouldn't be hard to find an out for him.

Beyond that bringing in non AFL ready players does no good. Someone could talk me into Kelly getting a couple of games. I missed the 4th quarter, but in the 1st 3 he looked promising for the future.

I'm conflicted on jj. I did sleep through the second half, so it's not really based on this game.

1. Sauce takes a lot of ruck contests. A lot. He rucks almost the entire ground including quite deep forward.
2. This means that jj doesn't get much chance to develop or perform well as a 2nd ruck. It also means that we probably don't lose a lot if we go in without jj, unless sauce gets injured mid-game.
3. 3 genuine talls requires a well drilled fwd structure, not sure we have that. Could jj's lack of attack at contests be related to concern that he will be crashing the 2 primary fwds contests. Jj is definately the 3rd banana, probably a difficult role as a key fwd.
4. Was he that much worse than pods who was non-existent in the first had a bit of it in the second (got to 9 from memory, but few effective). and finished on 12. Yes pods fans, I saw the tap through the legs. This has been pods norm over the last few weeks, he has no future as anything other than what he is right now.

But if he needs a rocket then fair enough. I just hope we don't bring LJ into the fwd line. I'd rather go with just pods and tex, with pods rucking the fwd 30 and sauce grabbing a breather in the defensive zone (if we run one) or a kick behind. I'm actually a bit of an LJ fan, but I'd prefer he gets a go down back if he's going to come in.

I like JJ but his lack of effort is too hard to ignore. He's supposed to be quick but I've seen him sprint once and that's when he had the ball.

Pods was useless last night, beyond useless. Apparently his contested marking was good, he took 2 marks. One where Tex hit him on the chest uncontested. Can't remember the other one.

What did you think of Rutten's game in the two's?

Surely North would beat him......

His knowledge is very valuable but is that enough to have him on the field??

I know he's slow and might get beaten, but in terms of getting beaten is it better to have him in for a farewell game or Shaw in who might get delisted anyway? We are down to our last ~AFL standard backmen.

I'd be willing to risk that for the direction and leadership he would bring to the back line. We aren't really doing any better without him on the field.

That being said, if he has niggles and stuff no point playing him being injured and slow.

Agree with the OP but you could make more changes. Hell bring in Smack for a bit of intensity because JJ is offering nothing at all and im not sure id bother with Truck after yesterday. Just another thing..... if Charlie wasn't Charlie would he be dropped ??? No confidence and no impact.

Pretty sad state of affairs when people are calling for Johnston to come back in. Not saying it's wrong...just a startling reflection on how much b grade, inconsistent, soft, uncompetitive crap we have running around the park.

Would be keen to give the younger blokes another go despite their form. Guys like LT and Shaw deserve more patience than guys who've had much more game time like Jj (who clearly thinks he's a gun and can't be dropped), wright and Douglas. There's nothing more I hate than players falling over all the time. Good players keep their feet. Stuff like this should be a priority focus in the post game review for Sando. It's so important.

I reckon m crouch and kerridge definitely need to come in. Other that that I don't care.

On the coaching front we need a good assistant coach, and need to replace bickley and campo. I don't hate Sando yet...reckon he's inherited a sh@t sandwich courtesy of trigg. Time will tell.

I'd bring back Reilly as a steadying influence in the back line. Our backs were disorganised last night. Don't think Rutten is the answer, unfortunately, based on his SANFL form.
Make the 6 or so changes some are suggesting and we lose by 80 points.
Laird back for Mackay.

Everyone is flaming LT but am I the only one who still sees something in him? Had an average couple of weeks but I think he's agile and mobile enough to be our third tall.

I'm happy to put cue in the rack selection wise.

Laird and Crouch back is a must though.

Let's just get Phil Davis back pls
