Game could be won at the selection table on Thursday arvo. Fascinating times ahead.

I think there's a couple of changes that would likely make us a 2-3 goal better team. But I can't see both Dmac and VB making way at the same time. As I said very early on, I think the most we can hope for out of our selection group is VB to sub.

So you're finally conceding that Nathan will be in the two's this weekend.

Still no comment on vB's game last Saturday? You may not have caught up with the fact that he was dragged last Saturday night. Hard to tell really, there was little difference in output.

There will be no comment. NTRabbit is waiting for the likely inclusion of VB in the 1's this week so he can come on here and tell all the 'VB Haters' that they have no idea about football seeing as he has once again come up trumps in the coaches review. He won't engage in a discussion about VB's actual performance on Saturday night, because even the rabbit knows it cannot be defended.

Maybe we should nab Schulz as our goal kicking coach next year?
If it was me every time the umpire looks at the goals i'd shuffle in, point to the goals to say come one ump, shuffle some more.

Schulz isn't the only Port player I've seen do it, but I don't blame them, it's a good tactic and I wish our players did the same.

Jasper Pittard is in doubt after hurting his ankle at training. With Carlisle and Jonas missing, that's 3 of their best defenders. Should make things a little easier for our forwards

As if things aren't bad enough, now Jasper might not play on Sunday.

In the spirit of the new brotherhood, we should offer our rehab facilities to give Jasper Twodads every chance to get up for the game .

Well, it may be the case, but you seem to think he should be something more than every other inside mid in the comp. Compared to to the best inside mids in the comp, he does that job better than most, and that includes 'spreading'. Well as I see it you'll need to come up with something more than having the opinion he doesn't spread. He's not margarine.

Thommo doesn't spread you only need to watch him closely as soon as the ball leaves the area he jogs slowly to the next contest.

The so called spread is him being left behind, turnover and we use him on the way back.

He has had a better season than I thought he would have, but his position is the one we have multiple options that have 10 years infront of them. He has benefitted from having inexperienced coaches the last few seasons that are reluctant to pull the trigger on seasoned veterans.

There is zero point in bringing in Lyons, he has been weighed, measured and found wanting, same as Martin. Good state league players only.
What I hate about this view is the likes of Lyons/Martin have basically shown just as much as Van Berlo and Mackay have when they've played. The difference been them is the later two have only played a handful of games here and there where the other two have been unquestionable best 22 players in our side for the past few years.

I honestly have no idea why that's the case because Van Berlo/Mackay have offered us very little for a long time now yet they keep getting picked, we've got younger versions who offer similar stuff (better in my eyes) yet are only given a shot when everyone else is injured.

At the very worst it might send a much needed rocket up the backsides of Van Berlo/Mackay to get going or lose their spot which they've grown oh so comfortable in over the past number of years.

Absolutely terrible deals given to both by the club, I don't care how much we may have signed by these multi-year deals as we could save more by not having either on the list and lose nothing at all (on the field at least).

The other issue for Port is Pittard, Polec and White are so critical to their offensive ball movement

All 3 will be missing

This is massive , keep Broadbent quiet and they will struggle with their free flowing ball which is their signature .....if it comes down to a contested ball is king game we usually win those ones

If VB gets dropped and McKay the sub we will go well this Sunday .... No more inside mids as subs ! I'd actually prefer martin as sub personally because he is more dynamic

As maligned as pittard is port rate his ability ro be unpredictable despite the errors because it opens up the field for them in multiple angles

Broadbent been in shocking form until last week , can't let him be completely loose as this is when he thrives ...need to create 2 on 1s and 3 on 2s and then kick to other areas of forward line with our entries

Hopefully Jenkins can keep producing hos improved marking stats inside 50 with Carlisle out and hombsch likely to tail walker

In the spirit of cooperation we should volunteer to leave out vB so players on both teams have to win their own ball.
This is a POTY contender.

Agree totally with the sentiment to drop VB and Mac. I'm all for giving Lyons a bit more opportunity, he hasn't been worse than VB or Mac. What's seriously sad is that I would have put VB, Mac and Bernie Vince all in the same basket two years ago. The one we got rid of has performed and the others haven't.:(

Mind you I would like to see Walker spend more time playing close to goal. In his first game of the year he roamed around picking up possessions at will. Well that's not happening anymore. No good roaming around the field if you're not adding much value out there. We have Eddy and Charlie as small crumbers we need Walker and other key forwards marking or bringing ball to ground more.

Jonas is the only player in the comp rivaling VB for ineptitude. Not a coincidence they got up after removing the weak link.

Yep. This is xxxxxx maddening from the Crows! Every fan knows the umpires will wave a max of twice to come onto the line, and then give up. The other 17 clubs know that pointing, shuffling, (and then slyly moving back out again) is all the umpires require, but our club is ever happy to fully please.

The other 'up my nose annoyance' is how the Crows almost never crib one cm over the mark, whereas all other teams (especially Hawthorn) move way over and then encroach further with sideways movement. Frustrating.

I wouldn't blame our players...

they just know not to bother trying these tricks when you play for the AFC.

I hear you but seems to still have enough to play a role. What about sticking him the forward line in place of Matty Wright.

Even though you're being pretty disrespectful, I can't really argue with you. Van Berlo looks totally lost out there. If he keeps getting selected people will continue to bag him on this forum, which is a bit of a shame considering he's a former captain.

Predicted changes: cheney in, cey out.
What should happen changes: atkins, kerridge, cheney in, mackay, vb, wright out.

Predicted team lineup:
Brown Talia Lever
Laird Hartigan Henderson
Mackay Thompson Smith
Cameron Lynch Wright
Betts Walker Jenkins
Jacobs Dangerfield Douglas
MCrouch, Knight, Cheney, Van Berlo

What should be our lineup:
Brown Talia Lever
Laird Hartigan Cheney
Smith MCrouch Henderson
Knight Walker Betts
Jenkins Thompson Cameron
Jacobs Dangerfield Douglas
Atkins, CEY, Lynch, Kerridge

I think we have a much better chance of winning if we get some younger players into the team. Experience is one thing but 6 disposals for vb last week cannot be ignored. Atkins has been good and deserves his chance. I cant see what mackay offers more than this kid. Kerridge is a better and bigger version of vb and Cheney needs to be in our backline. He adds hardness, flexibility and takes a good intercept mark. Thompson needs to start forward and id be leaving him in the goalsquare until the 3rd quarter when players in the middle begin to feel the fatigue set in. Port dont have a good matchup for him if hes full forward. Time for some out of the box thinking campo.

Will Campo's first real game selection be one of diplomatic caution by keeping Vb in and maintaining the obvious Walsh belief in VB's leadership, experience and defensive attributes? Or will he show lesser regard for the new coaching transition and step out from the Walsh tragedy by imposing his mark on the worth of VB and maybe others. Is the Showdown the game to make such a selection statement? Maybe VB gets the vest. Interesting.
