Normally I'd be concerned with Campbell as first ruck. I'm not a Campbell hater, and actually rate his tapwork and ability to take marks around the ground, but I believe that others don't recognise his weakness in lack of fitness and mobility enough and as a result over-rate him, because they under-realise his weaknesses, if that sorta makes sense.

But I'm not concerned with him being first ruck this week. Do you know why? I don't rate Grundy. Anybody know knows me personally would know that if there's one player in the entire competition that I have a completely different view on them compared to what the AFL public does, it's Brodie Grundy.

It's weird, but I just watch Grundy and I don't know what all the hype is - I reckon it's something that you can only get an appreciation of by going to games and watching it live, but there's something aobut Grundy in the half a dozen times I've seen him live - and I'm well aware of confirmation bias - that just I don't rate. I reckon he's a dumb player. He has skills and decent tap work and alright athleticism for his size, but I just don't reckon he processes the game or has a smart Footy IQ or Footy brain. I watch him live, and its the little things, like positioning, realising when a player does something tricky on the ground and he registers it a split second later than everybody else, his decision making, the little things, which make me think that he's over-hyped by everybody but me.

It's why I'm not worried about Campbell getting exploited with his lack of mobility and agility and fitness - it takes a smart opposition ruckman to exploit those faults, and Grundy isn't a smart ruckman who can exploit them. Witts isn't dumb, he just doesn't have the better athletic traits to also exploit Campbell.

I'm probably speaking out of my arse - when you have a view that's so strongly against the collective viewpoint of almost everybody else in the footy world being unanimous in Grundy being one of the best young rucks in the league, you generally are speaking out of your arse - so therefore I'm probably wrong, but I can never shake that feeling whenever I watch Grundy play in that I think to myself "gee, this guy isn't too crash hot, what does everybody else see in him"?

I could be right to a small extent - he's a Collingwood player, and them being a big club, of course their players are going to be hyped.

Maybe on Sunday night when Campbell has a dominant game and people are saying Grundy a rubbish one, I can turn back to this point and say "I told you so".

Campbell has his chance. This is make or break.

Could we have brought Ayce Cordy in?
I didn't go to watch the Ressies, but note that we had (at least) three players over 6ft 7in - Cordy, Toyd and Minson. Five years ago we would have screamed for a tall.

Rather bemused by some supporters wondering about Cordy; he is often derided. Funny how that we may now see him as an option. Well, he just may be picked up by another club at year's end.

Karma.

Macrae will get 10 free kicks if the umpires from these last couple of games are anything to go by
Agree, Toyd could have got a bag too :(

Unfortunately, if he does it probably won't help us much. He rarely kicks it to our advantage from his set kicks (from a mark or free), and far too often they result in the opposition scoring a goal rather than us.

I've significantly lowered my aspirations regarding Macrae for this season. I am now happy to see his semi-standard backwards or sideways kicks, just so the team at least maintains possession.

I'm happier if he gets his possessions in general play rather than from a free or a mark. Giving him time to think about it seems to make things worse.

I'm with you 100%, and for what it's worth, so is my uncle, who is a Collingwood supporter.

I don't think it even stems from his status as a Collingwood player, more that he was an impressive junior and has a couple of traits that stand out, as opposed to the key traits and behavioural aspects that just... don't.

I've thought all week that we'll lose this game. Prove me wrong boys. With Richmond losing yesterday, that would make my Monday a whole lot better.

Is it just me, or are fans here the most negative bunch of people you have ever come across?
I think a 6 decade long premiership drought creates a fair bit of that. We're dogs supporters. Every time we get up and about, our team usually finds a way to bring us back to ground. With a thud.

I reckon the noise about him has died down. When he first burst on the scene and played a few good games, he was the second coming. But now he's just a very hairy-knotty boy.

I suggest you check out the FB page. It will give you a newfound appreciation of how positive we are about everything.

I think there are just a lot of nerves as we're actually in a position to make finals. This game is massive.

Read on here, pretty much everyone thinks we don't have a good enough team to win. Read on the Pies board, they think they don't have a good enough team to win.

Only on here I read about Roughy being withdrawn, that's a blow for us cos he could have dominated the ruck :(

I don't use Facebook. I can only imagine though.
I don't have Facebook anymore either, but when I did the Bulldogs page lasted about ten minutes before I unliked it. Horrendous.

As for here, not sure it's negativity as such, more we've just seen our form drop off and injuries take hold and we really don't know how our depth is going to stand up. Hard to get a read on the side at the moment, and it features a lot of players that the average supporter probably wouldn't have seen much of (Prudden, Biggs, Redpath, Campbell (as first ruck), Dale, Daniel). It's an important game and the depth of a young side traditionally isn't great. Going to be a difficult game.

It's just you. The rest of us are really positive.
