I’d be stunned if Cordy was dropped, Young was good after quarter time but he wasn’t meant to play and didn’t have much to play on.

The midfield balance has looked better without Libba as it gives more midfield time for Lipinski and McLean who cover the ground far better than Libba, but in a final you would definitely want Libba in there.

Adelaide have never played on the ground before so that is a win. They have also been in terrible form since the bye where they have only beaten Gold Coast and Saints in that time

Including preseason games we’ve played there 8 or so times in three years so that helps.

Really we have no excuses. They’re in poor form and will likely miss even if they win.

The mere fact we have the following to potentially come in:
Libba
English
Wallis
Daniel
West

Shows we are starting to develop some depth and puts pressure on those in the team to perform.

Having Young down back complimented Wood who had his best game for a while, I am not sure he is the right player to drop for English but also am concerned with weakening our running power given the forecast weather for the game

Out - young
In - English

Out - richards
In - west

Young’s just unlucky. He’ll play plenty of footy next year. But the balance isn’t right with English, Trengove, Cordy and young.

West plays more forward, giving Bazalenka more time on the wing (Richards role).

FB: Wood Trengove Crozier
HB: JJ Cordy Duryea
C: Smith Macrae Hunter
HF: Mclean Schache Lloyd
FF: West Naughton Dale
R: English Bonti Dunkley
IC: Lipinski suckling Hayes Dickson

Partly cloudy. High (70%) chance of showers, most likely during the morning. Winds northwest to southwesterly 20 to 25 km/h.

BOM showing weather maybe ok but by Sunday the forecast will change.

I think Cordy is more suited to Ballarat type conditions than Young.

Plenty of ball will be on the ground and has a bit more of a mature body. If it was under the roof I’d have young.

I dunno, there isn't really much difference between playing at Ballarat and playing at Whitten Oval or at Williamstown in my eyes.

Something to sing to the Crows fans at Mars as we romp home in the last quarter:

Pack up all your cares and woes
Season’s done. Off you go
Bye, bye blackbird
Leave the finals up to us
And watch out for that karma bus
Bye, bye blackbird
No one seems to love you or to shed a tear
So get back on the highway and come again next year
When your stars all play like sh*te
You'll be going home tonight
Bye, bye blackbird
Blackbird, bye bye

(Joe Cocker's version is much better but this one's easier to get the melody)

Bontempelli was only fined $2000 from the Match Review this week after his late bump on Nick Haynes during Sunday's victory over the Giants was classified as 'low' impact.

However, it has since been revealed that Haynes – who was struggling to breathe in the immediate aftermath of the blow – sustained a rare fracture to his cricoid (a ring-shaped cartilage around his windpipe) as a result.

Had the extent of Haynes' injury been known at the time of the MRO's decision, the bump almost certainly would have been assessed as either 'high' or 'severe' impact.

That would have left Bontempelli staring at either an automatic two-match suspension or a direct referral to the AFL Tribunal, which would have more than likely been advised to hand down a ban of three or more matches.

Not yet knowing the full extent of the injury, it left Match Review Officer (MRO) Michael Christian with little evidence to determine the impact of the blow by the time he was required to hand down his findings.

It also meant the Giants were left with no opportunity to present more information to the AFL on Haynes' injury.

Giants officials have subsequently expressed their disappointment in the process to the AFL.

A slice of luck for us!!! The old "unwritten law" of what happens on the field stays on the field is no longer....which IMO is sad.....I'm sure these same Giants officials would have enjoyed their players attempt to rough The Bont up (off the ball)....yet The Bont evens up and the player gets injured well they want blood.....seems to me they have no football nous and no scruples

Never see articles of our players cleaning up other blokes, good to see us on the other side of it for once. Our players are usually the ones getting bullied.

It does highlight a quirk - some might call it a flaw - in the AFL rules.

If you're lucky you get your opponent at an angle that causes no damage. Result = fine.
If you're unlucky you get your opponent at an awkward angle (same force, same point of contact) and he gets injured. Result = 3 weeks.

I can see why they do it but it can be a bit random.

Bit of luck Today with Bont on the match review panel only getting a fine. Although I didn't think there was much in what he did. He didn't go out of his way to intentionally hurt Haynes.. It was a freak accident.. The game is getting so soft..

The last couple of weeks Cordy and Wood have gone back to their preferred defensive roles, not getting caught against more brute forwards and have already been a rock down there

Hey everyone, sorry to intrude but if anyone is looking to sell 2 tickets to the game I'd be incredibly grateful.
