Didn't watch Geelong on the weekend but noticed in the AFL stats this week, Dangerfield and Selwood only went into the centre bounce on 8 of 20 bounces. Well below Parfitt (15), Guthrie (14), and Duncan (13)... Wasn't due to spending loads of time on the bench - maybe picked up a knock and rested more up forward?

Wasn't the case in previous rounds so maybe Chris Scott was just trying something. With Danger out again, feels likely they'll revert to Selwood spending more time in the midfield, and fair chance they would have done so even if Danger was playing.

Or maybe Selwood was starting on a wing then moving into a more typical midfield role after the bounce - I can't really see the sense in him playing a different role other than right at the coal face. He hasn't got any pace so no point in getting him out in the open on a wing, and he's not really a huge threat (ala Martin, Bont, Dangerfield) in the forward 50.

K.Turner did a hard tag job on Selwood from the first bounce. Scott shifted his [Selwood's] starting points around in an effort to negate it without much result.

Not sure about Dangerfield however; it was like the 2020 Grand Final all over again with him parked up forward rather than in the middle where he is most effective (perhaps he was carrying something coming in, hence the reduced midfield minutes?).

Selwood is low-hanging fruit nowadays - easy to pick-off due to his lack of mobility. To not tag him is just negligence by the opposition.

With Dangerfield missing, that leaves Guthrie, Parfitt, Duncan and Menegola to go head-to-head with Kelly, Sheed, Gaff and Redden.

With the advantage of a dominant ruck, the battle in the middle could be decisively in our favour.

Smith has been Geelong’s most dangerous player when I’ve seen them this year. Surely we can tag that campaigner

He is also a seagull of the highest order - a total of 13 contested possessions across 5 matches this season. He doesn't win the ball himself, cut the supply and his output will drop.

As mentioned previously, if he gets off the hook then throw Ainsworth onto him in a run-with capacity.

Smith's disposal is also a bit suspect now days. I can see why Hawks let him walk

Teams still take a travelling emergency don't they? As in a 24th player, and would become sub (with sub become a starter) if someone went down in the warm up.

Depends if our midfield shows up which you can't depend on.

but if we lose we fold
Depends how we lose. If we get thumped, yep pack it in, we're done. Blow a game winning lead like against the Saints, same. Lose a close, hard fought game, no shame in that, we are playing @ their own horrid shit heap, disappointing but season alive.

Who normally goes on Zach Tuohy, if he's playing, can be dangerous...have a grudging respect for the Cats, especially Tuohy, but this game might be the one!? You sense the club (Eagles) is making all efforts to push this over the line and make it happen...(maybe they'll play the famous win from behind we had as a rev up, if the 4 points isn't enough?)

Probably a wise move, I had a curry at a country hotel in France once, it was an abomination, dunno what I was thinking, it wasn't a bad joint if you stuck to French food.
What on earth were you thinking? Mind you I had a top curry at an Indian in Paris once. Had too many Kingfishers so I don't recall the name of the place.

I've convinced myself that we will win this one, so am set up for major disappointment. The good thing is that due to the weird start time (11.45am - wtf?), I've got lunch plans, so will only see the first and last quarters.
Lunch plans? Sounds pretty unplanned if it collides with the footy. Surely your lunch companions would understand you watching the footy while youse all eat.

Gaff is being used a little differently though with Shuey and Yeo out so that will be impacting his goal tally.
He was hitting the goals a bit more last year.
5 goals last year. 3 goals in 2019.

Smith has kicked 100 more goals over his career playing slightly less games. It’s a trivial point but anyway
