In a contested game where delivery to forwards was pretty average only the true believers would state as fact that JJ would have been a difference maker. Gibbs maybe, but his numbers have been fine, so there’s obviously something that they’re pretty unhappy about. We’d have won the game anyway had we not butchered 3-4 gettable last quarter shots on goal.
This.

People, myself included are moaning about how awful we are but the reality is we arent far away against a team with a good record here.

Whether we can find that bit of class remains to be seen

Mackay and Matt will definitely be ins - So two need to come out - Jones and Knight.

Berg needs a rest - was surprised they played him tbh. But also cripes, the kid can play, those giving up on him now need their heads read - So JJ in for him.

I would drop Tex, but that won't happen.

I would drop RAt for Ned, but doubt that will happen.

I think Matt for Knights is the only certainty. Seed will surely move up the ground after that hit out, so I’m not convinced Dmac returns unless we drop Rat. Murphy stays for mine, but a little bit more polish would remove him from the discussion altogether. I think EH gets a rest, expecting JJ to return but I’d prefer Fog and a bit of imagination put into the relief ruck role. Outside of Matt in and EH out, I won’t be surprised or annoyed with any other changes. There’s about 6 players who could legitimately be out for form or structure and arguments made for any of their replacements.

Doubt Gibbs will be an in. Was dropped for this game and no SANFL game to force the selector’s hand.
I have a feeling Pyke will not be backing players in this week. He seemed pretty incensed post game. Can't drop everyone but I get the feeling a few had a line put through them long term.

Including anyone who thought bombing the ball to Lachie Murphy on Gov was a good delivery system.

Himmelberg will be good when he learns to hold his ground. Got knocked off the ball in the air and on the ground far too easily. I'd experiment playing Jacobs as forward/chop out ruck. He can take a mark and would give us more in the position than either Himmel or JJ offer. Fog for Tex.

These are the career averages for JJ and Himmelberg. Not much difference however Himmelberg needs a rest.

On the goal stat, how many times would JJ have got a Joe the Goose goal?

Himmelberg needs support up there. Personally i feel he needs a rest but if your gonna persist with him you need to get either Greenwood up there full time and get Fogarty or Jenkins in the team for Walker. Would also get attacking forwards in the team that can kick goals in Stengle and McAdam.
I feel our forward line would be much more effective as:

Lynch Fogarty/Jenkins Mchenry
Stengle/Betts Greenwood/Himmelberg McAdam

Number 1. Our contested marking is much better with Fogarty, Greenwood and McAdam.
Number 2. Our pressure and speed is good.
Number 3. Stengle and McAdam know where the goals are.
Number 4. If Himmelberg or Jenkins form drops off you play Fog and Greenwood as your key posts.
Number 5. Betts needs to be rested. Stengle deserves his chance to see what he can do.

Team this week.

Brown Talia Laird
Smith Keath Gibbs
Seedsman Sloane Milera
Lynch Fogarty/Jenkins Mchenry
Stengle Greenwood Mcadam

ROB MCrouch BCrouch

CeY Jones Kelly Gallucci

In: Fog/Jenkins Mchenry Mcadam MCrouch Lynch Gibbs Stengle
Out: Walker Himmelberg Knight Atkins Hartigan Murphy Betts rested.

Dont care whos in whos out. Dees by at least 10 goals in this one. Pyke to miss the flight home due to looking for the wheels to the wagon.

Team:

Out: Knight, Berg (rest) , Jones

IN: Stengle, Mchenry, Gibbs or JJ depending on structure

(give Dmac another week)

Captaincy
Out: Walker

I'd bet the coaching group will trott out stats to back this up.
Reality is we are not anywhere near a decent team. We've been consistently awefull in ball movement, structure, skills and selection.......and we are at round 11 this week.
Our forwads are totally disfunctional and we have 2 key defenders that are just plain dumb footballers.

Ive seen very little to suggest this club is capable of turning things around to the level required to compete.

We've now lost 3 at home, top 4 is done and dusted.

Whatever game plan Pyke has developed in the offseason hasn't worked from round 1, at round 11 and we are no better.

Worst ball movement I have seen since Sandos last year.

This club has gone backwards.

Dont know on the outs but available that were not this week could include Mackay, Crouch, Jacobs, Lynch. With only Doedee on the injured list we have the ability to rest and rotate players. Tex needs a kick up the backside so JJ in for him. Burger needs a rest so why not try and play Sauce and Rob. Nothing to lose. SANFL plays saturday as well so expect to take an emergency up.
My Guess
AFL
In Sauce, Jenkins, Crouch, McHenry Lynch
Out Berg Tex Atkins Murphy
F Betts Sauce Greenwood
HF Milera Jenkins Lynch
C Seedsman CEY Sloane
HB Laird Talia Smith
B Kelly Keath Brown
R O'Brien M Crouch B Crouch
Inter From - McHenry, Knight, Gallucci Jones, HArtigan

Knight has to go hasn't shown anything damaging since that elimination final - panics and he puts others under pressure with poor decisions.

Atkins plays for about ten minutes total every game then joins the crowd.

Stick with EH Jones Murphy and Gallucci give them until the bye.

Walker - wow - why is he so concerned with potential contact? - turning into a really large squib.

Get the Fog into the team.

Didn't help smith not kicking the ball soon enought when coming out from full back and getting the ball smothered and the resultant play cost us a goal and talia kicking back to the centre of the defensive 50 instead of going wide..went to a 3 on 1 against us and an easy turnover and goal. Cheating umpiring aside, we were the architects of our own misery more than once in a tight game and like the 2 dropped sitter marks inside our attacking 50 last week. ..it kills you

Didn't help that they seemingly could not miss in the second half. Freakish accuracy in those conditions.

Meanwhile we've kicked more behinds than goals in seven of our ten matches this year.

If mchenry comes in joned needs to go out they will be on par at afl level which means they will need to be carried a lot

well there's about 5 senior players who are currently being carried one more won't hurt!

Who is Melbourne using as their 2nd ruck?

Gawn has been forced to ruck for 90% to 95% game time, They have used a mix of smaller rucks, and they got smashed and lost the contest, resulting in a quick return to the field for Gawn,
There supporting Tall rucks are injured Although Pruess may be back this week.
