Just craps me off when coaches get favourites and get gold passes .
Like all of Pets with injury -- Porps and Callinan got end of last year surely 1 of them should have made way for Lynch etc.
This year Pets until dropped and then recalled with one average game and now did pretty well last week how many gift games will he get
again .
Mackay has been between average and poor and even gets in this week with injury cloud against the best tough at the ball club in AFL
and Porps continues to make team because shows flashes of talent has or had.
What bemuses me is reason Pets gets in with pressure tackling etc Porps is horrible at against team we need every tackle to happen and stick.
Whilst Rielly has been awful and with u- 12 mistakes understand he earnt a lot of bonus points last year and dont really have ready made replacement.
Then end of last season and early this year we have Lynch and Lyons not just playing well but dominating SANFL finally get a chance after Carlton debacle and do great job and now Lyons gets dropped after improving our clearances especially as inexperienced player and just when gaining confidence with a couple of games along comes the axe .
How many average games will Lynch play before he has axe over head though even last week was a quieter game he gave us a huge amount of drive.
Even the Crouch over Lyons is really a favourite selection as no way has his games been as dominating in SANFL as Lyons and there is only 2 years difference.

Really? You seem to be siding with some posters who are criticising those of us who are unhappy with Lyons being dropped for Porps and yet you agreed JPs post.
I'm not happy with Lyons getting dropped, please point me to where I've been calling for this, or agreed with it? I think he's very stiff to go out before Porps, but his form hasn't been outstanding, and I don't think he was any better than Porps last week (thought they were on par). I have faith he will only be out until after our bye (unless he struggles for the Bays), and Porps would easily be our 22nd picked player this week and is on very thin ice.

Trying to be measured for a moment, do you think Lyons going out and Porps staying in will have any bearing at all on the game?

Lyons would know where his game is at, and he's contracted for another season so he aint going anywhere for a while yet. Sando gave him praise in his PC last week, so the coaches do rate him.

I have mixed feelings about this week's selections, annoyed that Lyons got dropped after his good form so far, disappointed that Martin didn't get any real opportunity to show his worth, and Brown's injury concerns I can understand. Although I am happy to see Crouch and Hendo back, and I really prefer having McKernan in the team for what he offers us in terms of structure, particularly as it allows Jenkins to stay forward.

Henderson is a good in for us as it gives us options in several positions. If we play him mainly forward we can keep Danger in the middle more. He may also start down back to replace Brown as Sydney have a few talls we need to cover. Or, as someone else suggested, he could be given a run-with role on Goodes.
I agree that Martin should have had a run of games replacing Porps. Sorry to see Lyons out, but maybe we are going to see a bit of revolving door stuff with our young blokes. It is a long and hard season.

You said 'you can't gift players games' in regards to Lyons, when clearly anyone of Porps and Mackay have been EASILY worse and on last weeks game (if that's what we're judging Lyons on) Reilly, Smith and Kerridge were far worse. Not to mention Crouch hasn't exactly been demanding selection on SANFL form like Lyons was prior to his selection. You could even argue he is being 'gifted a game'.

Dont get me wrong. I'm not as upset as others about these selections, but am just disputing a lot of the logic being used.
I probably shouldn't have used that wording, but Porps was not EASILY worse last week, they were on par at worst. Mackay went off injured and it definitely affected him for 1.5 quarters, so it's not really a fair argument. Smith and Kerridge have plenty of points in the bank, and have far better form this season than Lyons. Since when was selection based off one game?

Reilly was bad last week, but he plays a completely different role. Do you want Lyons as the distributor off HB?

Crouch is a much much more talented player than Lyons, and he's the best young player to come into this club in a long time. I don't care if he doesn't fully deserve selection, his development is the number one priority. His form was quite good before getting injured too.

Try to be measured? Go squeeze a zit.

Coming from the 'gold pass' rant poster? Ha
Coming from the Crows sycophant himself????

Run along and get yourself excited by the prospect of fighting it out for a chance at an elimination final this year.

I have been a little confused by the selections this year. It is one of the areas Sando makes mistakes in.
Porps should have been dropped this week as should have Martin. Crouch in for Brown, Smack and Hendo in for Martin and Porps.
Lyons deserved to be in this week and the message sent to him this week is a kick in the guts for his good form.

Yes, I'm sure playing Lyons over Porps this week will lead to a premiership next season, at the short term expense of missing finals this year while playing the youngsters. That's your point yeah?

So they are wrong because you don't agree with them? Isn't this the type of thing you accuse me of most weeks?
They laid the blame on the kids for the North first quarter, whilst ignoring the senior players. How is that measured?
That was their justification of needing mature bodies irrespective of their form.

Playing too many kids? Just the opposite and the reality is those players were better in the contest then the seniors and the position management was ridiculous.
It's simply being contrary.
If this were the case they would in fact be getting run over not having the strength to carry the weight of their opponents on their legs not the other way around, it's been the seniors and a lack of tagging accountability left for the kids to make up for, no sweepers is just amateur.
Reality is the structure has been idiotic and the kids have been scapegoats.
Sando had a guy with obvious goal sense the previous week kicking 6 and made him a run with player kept Danger out of the middle. Left players loose to rebound has had VB prancing around up forward all year when he's a tackling tagging beast.
WOG was in the coaches box.

Oh I see now, you still believe that VB, McKay, Porps, Vince, Reilly ... Are all going to lead us to a flag... Don't you?

Right... Ok.

Porps was definitely worse. But that is your opinions against mine.

If Reilly's job is HB distributor, then atm, yes I would feel more comfortable with Lyons (besides the point).

A straight swap Crouch for Lyons is a tough one. Crouch is more talented yes, but I would say Lyons AFL for has been better than Crouch SANFL form in comparison. So do you still go with the 'gifting games' logic?

No one on this board should at all be up in arms if Lyons decides to leave at the end of the year.

Hell I'll be goddamned up in arms! I'm not the one on the selection committee, I'm not the one continuing to play a non tackling Porps in front of him, I believe Lyons has the chance to become an elite inside ball winner and distributor and will be a perfect replacement for Thommo. If he does leave (and I dont for a second think he will) the blood will be on Sando's and the MC hands when he continues to tear us a new one for his new club in the seasons to come.

Calm your ****, everybody... Crouch is back.
Would've preferred to see Porps out than Lyons but surely one more bad performance and he's gone.

Haven't we been saying this all year? How many 'bad' performance's does he get?

I meant towards the player himself.

Well... on the bright side Lyons still leads the SANFL POTY in the Advertiser.

Maybe he'll still get that Magarey lol.

Lets be honest the people running this club over the last decade have NFI when it comes to developing young talent. Another sh*thouse selection week from Sanderson.

No premierships for you.

Very measured post Carl, no rants?
Haha! Not this time.

The difference is that I think Porplyzia is a good footballer and worth persevering with. I know he's been crap but I also saw him step up in the finals when some of his more currently in-form team mates didn't give much of a yelp and got exposed by the occasion.

Previously we have seen kids miss out when players I consider average get games ahead of them. That shits me no end because there is no upside - the kids don't get games, the average players remain average. And what it means is it guarantees that our team can't be good now or in the future. That's where the rants come in.
