Does Picken buck the trend and go to Danger this week. Last week Vince controlled Danger magnificently, and I think Picko could do the same. Couple of issues are;

A) Huge chance the umps will be looking after Patty this weekend

B) Bev has shown a distaste for playing run with roles so far to date

Thoughts on how we best mitigate the Danger!

We should let Dangerfield run free, it's not like his disposals
hurt at all. I loved the way we defended Hodge last week
at least my fantasy team did anyway. No that is a lie i had
Hodge and Lewis and did not score 2000.

In-Bontempelli, Moyd, Wood, Hamling, Redpath and Dale.

Out-Wallis, Morris, Cordy, Goodes, Hrovat and Honey.

What's with dropping the honey church???

Match ups at either end are fun to look at, but the midfield battle is always the most important. Unfortunately with no libba or Wallis, queries over Boyd and bonti, and hrovat and hunter not afl conditioned yet, we're fighting with one arm tied behind our backs.

There it is the elephant in the room, i sense you are suggesting Prudden
the god of midfield development is going to debut.

I don't think it is reliant on the midfield matchups this week to be honest.

We know we're going in severely handicapped in the middle of the ground; it's going to be difficult to compete in the centre bounce. Adelaide push up the ground heavily to guard their forward 50 but look vulnerable over the press. I think it's going to rely on three things in particular: (1) the pressure we apply up the ground; (2) how well our back line functions; and (3) whether we can work the ball through the press. I think if we can stop their forwards from getting silver service, keep them from scoring heavily and break through the press relatively well, we can score heavily in transition.

Need to be somewhat competitive in the middle but I don't think we're going to have to beat them there to win the game, nor do I think it's a foregone conclusion that they'll win if they beat us out of the middle.

Cordy cannot possibly be picked. Unfortunately he offers nothing, and that includes for structure.

If the MC are looking for a second ruck it has to be Campbell, he offer more in all areas than Cordy. If its a forward Redpath short term Roberts long term

Mid field grunt will be an issue unless someone left field steps up

But if we get bonty moyd and wood back a lot which went wrong last week will correct itself

Last week the line breaking absent wood lacked any punch
Murph and jj were swamped with wood there and Boyd's calming influence the defense will challenge the crows on the rebound

Similarly the addition of bonty should give us a few more effective clearances

A real pity wallis will miss
I imagine the club will be tempted to risk clay as a sub at least

Maybe it's time to throw hrovat into the midfield grunt role
Whilst he is not a natural fit his decision making in tight is next in line if we wish to leave moyd down back
Picken is in such God awful form
Maybe he could rediscover something in a midfield role

The issue needs to be considered like a puzzle where the pieces need to fit together.

The problem is that the Redpath and Campbell pieces don't look like they fit very well with the Stringer and Boyd pieces, essentially because they are too similar to the Boyd piece. The Cordy piece may not be very popular at the moment but looks the right sort of shape to fit in with the others and still link in with Minson in the ruck section of the puzzle (so does the Roughhead piece for that matter but it has already been forced into another spot).

Interesting that you think Roberts is a long term forward proposition. From what I have seen the club and Roberts need to make a clear decision on where he plays and stick with it. The kid is in his 4th season, and it is essentially make or break time.

Not only doesn't he look like a natural forward, there isn't a likely spot for him there in the team either. If I were Fletcher I would be trying to become the best defender I could be and hope I get a chance very soon.

Has anyone been down to training this week? Moyd / Bonti / Wood doing the full sessions?

We must have our best extractors and best distributors in the 'middle' or coming through the middle. The outside players ability to get free and deliver accurately will be crucial to the result. I expect Adelaide's 'manic pressure' to cause problems. We therefore have to get our hands on the ball first and hope like hell that our set up enables clear possession going forward. I think the Crows will bank on us coughing up the ball going into our forward line and will attack from there.

Unfortunately I can forsee a 60+ point mugging. Injuries and a few other things haven't really gone our way and Adelaide will be looking to swarm the same way Hawthorn did.

I think we need to trial a few ressie guys in the next couple games as they are tough games we most likely won't win. See who fits in well where. And for the love of god, drop Cordy and give Redpath a solid run at it.

Cordy, Redpath or Campbell I think we all know neither of them is good enough.

**** it, bring Clay in. Honestly he did his knee last time playing in the VFL, he's just as likely to do it again there. He'd offer us more as a team if he were the sub but we need as much game time into him as possible so I'd be tempted to just bring him in, sub him out if you need to.

He's going to fit into this team absolutely perfectly I reckon. With our focus around pressure on the ball carrier, well he'd be up there with Dahl as the best in this regard IMO, so intimidating and he has a huge work ethic just throwing himself at bodies and the ball. We're missing Wallis and Libba so we need someone like him in the guts, and he can go forward and be dangerous too. He's going to remind people this year what he's capable of, everyones written him off!

No more likely to do a knee playing AFL. The reason not to play him is match conditioning. Hamstrings tend to go regularly when returning from an ACL, so we'd be wise to make sure he's as match fit as possible before throwing him back in.

I think Roberts is a swingman can play the big forward but could also go back to allow Roughy to be part of the ruck mix.

Simply put though Cordy provides nothing in any position at the moment, and no amount of wishing is going to change he provides zero positive influence, Redpath appears to be no better than good at VFL level and whilst you beleive he is not a natural forward it was actually what he was recruited as and where he played his junior football and looks more a forward than back to me. In saying that however, I beleive he is at best a 20% chance of succeeding up forward which is still 20% higher than any of the other options.

If it is a second ruck we are after then at this stage our only option is Campbell. It is where recruiting too few talls provides little plan B, C or D if A fails. Therefore, we talk more about hope than any sense of certainty for players such as Roberts or Redpath. For Cordy we talk miracles.

Brown would go to Dahlhaus, Jaensch to Dickson, Talia to Boyd, Hartigan to Redpath/Cordy, Kelly to Crameri, who goes to stringer?

But yes Adelaide's team defence has been superb.

Ricky Henderson is the other man, likely to float off your third tall and try to hurt going the other way.

Hartigan played on Boyd last year at Adelaide Oval, they both mostly watched the game unfold around them in their 6th and 1st AFL games respectively.

Disagree here, the kid has a great pair of hands and played plenty of footy during the Williamstown alignment up forward.

McCartney persisted with Williams as a forward until he broke down, I'm sure Roberts would be a better forward than what Wiiliams was if given the chance up there.

LOL'd. Happened to tune into SEN KB's segment....match committee or something...apparently a lot of text traffic calling for the omission of Acye. Going to be interesting to see if big Ayce makes the extended bench.

Just over seven hours until meltdown time...don't let me down guys. ;)
Went to the supermarket to get popcorn, apparently sold out Australia wide with people getting ready for the BigFooty Dogs meltdown of 2015 :P
