No way we'll be 'resting' blokes this week. We might rotate a few for more fresh legs but we won't be resting, nor on our laurels. We lose to Brisbane and there's a high chance we will play Richmond at the G or Adelaide in Adelaide. The Geelong Adelaide game has a big impact on the outcome.

They may bring Boyd in for Redpath but they need to be careful. Martin had 40 hit outs against McEvoy and Hale. Depending on the weather forecast they may even play Redpath and Boyd with Roughy and rotate them all through.

Fletcher Roberts was good in the VFL as was Kelly, and Wee Man popped up here and there.

Going to be unpopular but give moz a rest the guy is playing with niggles and I'd rather give him the rest than have him get injured.

In: Roberts, Boyd, Daniel
Out: Morris (General Soreness), Honeychurch, Redpath

Maybe rest Hamling too.

A possible solution in September if Redpath and Boyd continue to struggle is to push Campbell back into the side and have Roughy and Campbell as a 50/50 split in the ruck and deep forward. Particularly if we are going to come up against the likes of Goldstein/Natanui/Sandliands etc, I think its an option we should heavily consider.

This is only the event that Redpath and Boyd continue to not provide much scoreboard impact. Campbell might be able to create that structure we need and also be more than handy as a ruck. It should be considered.

Boyd for Redpath ?
Boyd's form at VFL level has been ordinary and to be frank getting worse .
I like big Reds ruckwork , but I agree he may not be great right now but he is still our best bet.

Redpath stays in, its too late for Boyd to come back in now imo. In finals when there will be more bombs into the f50 id rather red doing the one on one battles, Boyd just doesn't have the strength yet. Plus the intimidation factor of big red will be required.

That is even more reason for him to come in Redpath is hopeless in one on one contests, he doesn't even half the contest he loses high ball contest nearly every single time, Robbie bloody Tarrent dominated him and had by far his career high posessions, marks and intercepts

We need to show the Lions some respect, we are playing them on their ground where they are fare welling some club favourites. Rest Crammers, he was out on his feet on Saturday and also Bob, I think he is carrying a niggle. Good game to bring in Roberts, wee man and Hrovat.

Out: Morris (rest), Crameri (rest), Wood (rest), Dickson (rest)
In: Boyd, Roberts, Jong, Darley

I think it's vital we give a couple of guys a rest, Crameri looks sore and Morris has been battered the last couple of weeks. Dicko looks like he is due for a spell and I'm not taking Wood to Brissie as he is our most important player imo and we know how injury prone he is. Boyd and Roberts come in and they should both be there week 1 of finals. Jong and Darley in to give the others guys a spell but a strong performance from Jong brings him right in the picture for finals.

Got a idea for Toyd
Leave him out the squad for a week so he can play the first final against Box Hill, if Scray win means they have the week off then have him playing the first final against who ever.
Depending on that game, have him in the VFL prelim or Semi Final

thoughts?

If we want Tommy playing AFL finals he has to play this week. We won't be picking a team based on giving our VFL a better chance to win next week, every focus is on our AFL finals campaign. It would be awesome to go back to back in the VFL but it's number 1 priority is to serve as our reserve team and what best prepares the senior team.

I'm happy for T.Boyd to play this week. If he plays really well and his confidence is high then he can put his hand up for the first final but if he plays a mediocre game then I'm not sure what benefits we as a team and he gets going in to a massive final with so much to lose both now and in the future.

Hopefully we put the lions to the sword early and play bruise free and tempo footy for the rest of the game

I have not looked too much into possible outcomes for 1st week of finals but I heard that Richmond is an unlikely opponent given North play Richmond.

Not sure but happy to be corrected.

Adelaide beating the Weagles has turned this into a mist - win game to avoid Adelaide at home.

Not sure how keen the Lions will be to win this also hoping they are not to keen.

Winning may cost them Pick 1 in the draft and also the ability to maybe push a player into the PSD

If we are playing AFL finals can't we play pretty much whoever we want in the VFL finals anyway? ala Cyril in the VFL GF last year?

Should be an important game to get our best team ready for the finals. Roberts is on our best team and I expect will replace Cordy (who has just got a good taste leading into pre-season). Honey to the sub (one of my favourites but the other candidate Webb - I think played just a little bit better. I think bringing Boyd in has advantages and disadvantages - the forward line is functioning well at the moment - Stringer likes being the Boss and Redpath is making a Mooney like impact around the ball. Also noticed later in the game he went back on Waite and had at least one good spoil. However, if we assume that finals will be a lot more like the earlier part of this last game - we will end up under more pressure kicking the ball in - this is where a guy like Boyd can be valuable - when he played he rarely did not get his hands on the ball even if he didn't quite clunk them they fell to Honey/Dickson etc.

Also - do we play Campbell? If we do - then maybe adding Boyd is slowing the team down too much - i.e. adding Fletch, Campbell and Boyd and taking say Cordy, Webb and maybe Grant?? (like him in the team). We do have to play finals like style and North did expose us when they could keep the pressure on but we blew them away with pace (something they wont get in two weeks time).

Out: Crameri (rest), Dickson (rest), Redpath

In: Boyd, Daniel, Roberts

Dahl to play forward.

I think we should play our best 22; no resting players unless they're absolutely spent. We need stability, consistency and form going into the finals.

Out: Redpath, Cordy, Roughead (only if injured)
In: Boyd (if he plays well tomorrow), Roberts/Talia (whoever is in better form), Campbell (see above re: Roughead)

P.S. I'm amazed that people on here are suggesting we rest players when we can still make the top 4. That seems crazy to me.
Spot on. Can't afford to take this game easy at all. We need to go all out because if a miracle happens and the Suns beat the Swans we have to make up the percentage, if not then we have to try and get 5th by getting a higher % than the Tiges.

Only rest injured players and drop those out of form. For me I would bring in Boyd for Redpath, rest Rough only if he is injured and drop Grant for whichever mid performed best in the VFL.

Would also try and get Fletch in as I think, when playing, he is in our best 22 as a key defender.

Only way we can play Richmond is if we lose pretty much.

Roughead Bontempelli Picken

Biggs, Webb, Daniel | Honeychurch

Cordy, Jong, Hrovat

Stringer Redpath Honey

Crameri Boyd Grant

JJ Roberts Biggs

Roughead Picken Bonti

Dale
Sub-Hamilton-If Hrovat is fit bring him in.

When you look at this team it looks fast on paper and think we would still win our depth is unreal at the moment

This week is the perfect opportunity to give Moz a break. Gives Z.Cordy a full game as the third tall (Roberts/Hamling as the KPD's) would like to see it happen.

Why would we rest Morris? He has only played 13 games this season.
