Seriously? The guy absolutely dominates when he plays SANFL, and he's not going to get any better continuing to play there. He's done more than enough to earn a regular spot in the team, especially when we're 5-6 as opposed to last year when we were actually doing well.

Starting to think Lyons may have done something wrong. Whilst he didn't set the world on fire in the games he played, I thought he was doing enough. Is he fit enough? Does he work hard enough on the track? Bad attitude? Must be something.

I liked his game 2 weeks ago when I thought he was one of our better players at the clearances and was in the process of starting to blossom at this level.

He goes in hard too. IMO Lyons SHOULD have been a certain in after the pathetic display by so many of our players against Sydney. Certainly before Jaensch, who IMO has let both himself and us down badly in the majority of games he has played at AFL level.

Reilly was shit last week and certainly isn't playing at the level that he was last year. While it's not surprising that he has been dropped, he still has averaged 7 intercept marks per game this year. Who thinks that Brown will do that as well as mind his man?? IMO Brown has only just been travelling in the games that he has played this year.

Crouch. Terrible for 3 quarters as he appeared to be struggling with the pace and intensity at AFL level. However, I thought that he had a pretty good last quarter, when he seemed to be adapting better to the huge increase in tempo and intensity over what he has experienced in the SANFL in recent weeks. We have a lot invested in this lad, and he needs to be a key figure in the future of our mid-field. IMO we should be playing him every week - providing he plays with the appropriate intensity - to fast track the development process to get him there. I wouldn't have dropped him.

Kerridge has played poorly the last 2 weeks as a run with player after shining as a forward. van Berlo has played poorly in a variety of positions, none of which included his successful run with position.

Accepting that Kerridge should have been dropped for his form in the last 2 games, and Petrenko would have been if not self-harmed by a farcical bump on big Mumford, there still are a few others who must be breathing sighs of relief that they're still playing this week.

As for the Ins, Mackay is a quality player who doesn't do enough, Jaensch will let us down at some time or other, while Henderson and Wright both have something to offer, but haven't really been offering it this year.

On the surface, the selectors don't appeared to have covered themselves in glory, but time will tell if they will be justified with these selections or not.

My confidence in the selectors, coaches and players is shot after last week, and my heart didn't pound with excitement when I saw these changes. Hopefully they will prove to be correct and the players selected perform well in a winning team.

Even if that is the case, I will still think WTF as far as Lyons goes. His non-inclusion is wrong IMO.

AFC on the other hand can go and get f**ked, what sort of message our we sending our young players when they can see guys who aren't performing ie Porps, Mackay etc get a free ride (and an immediate recall in Mackay's case) and these guys try there ass off in the SANFL, consistently put the runs on the board, and yet our match committee cant look beyond that big gold pass......]

Ah its a cunning way of getting higher in the draft. Bring Lyons in after he is gunning it in the SANFL then snub him in place of players who have been playing below par for most of the season. Drop him and then not let him play, then say there will be big changes and then bring in players who are below him in skill and ability. Piss him off so he wants a trade back to Vic where we swing a deal to get back into the first two rounds. Wooshka!

Seriously losing faith with our selection committee. Dropping all these quality youngster and playing middle tier players who will never be anything more then sevicable is diabolical. Yep, we're going to get nothing for him if he leaves. Knowing how this footy club trades, we may end up having to chuckin a 4th pick just to get the 6th pick coming back our way.

If ( and hopefully he doesn't) he leaves, we will lose out on thus deal.

No idea where you're getting your stats from macca, but Reilly is averaging a total of 4.6 marks per game this year.

You don't want to jump at shadows, but given the quality players who have walked out on us it is easy to do.

What would Lyons be thinking at the moment about his long and short term future at the club? The worst midfield smashing I've ever seen and he still doesn't come back in. If he's not coming in this week it is hard to see him coming in any other time this season.

I asked this question during the Gunston/Davis sagas - mentally, when did they make the decision to leave the Crows? It doesn't happen in a neat little time frame at the end of the season.

I reckon ultimately you make a decision to leave if you feel that the treatment you receive is unfair and this feeling is ongoing in nature. If you look around the competition and see worse players getting regular games then it is very hard to feel loyalty to a club that hasn't shown faith in you.

Now, I know that's pretty wishy washy. There are probably 35 players at the Crows who think they should be playing this week. But the difference is that Lyons, Gunston, Davis... will have suitors. They will have options. If Tambling is getting pissed off, who cares? It doesn't make any difference.

Obviously you can't just pick players to keep them happy but when push comes to shove and you have a choice to make, surely you piss off the players that you can afford to lose?

I just do not understand why we wouldn't be picking him. Our clearance work has been average this season. Thompson is starting to look his age. Dangerfield is struggling to fill all the roles we need him in.

I can understand Kerridge going out. He's had a run of games and will hopefully get another look later in the season. But Lyons is a year older, his SANFL footy has been outstanding, his AFL form encouraging and he plays in a position where we need a boost.

Is Lyons contracted for next year? Even if he was, he'd have to be looking at other clubs. Plus he'd have a family in his ear the whole time telling him how Craig/Sanderson is an idiot and why on earth aren't they playing you and is a trade home a chance.

Getting an all too familiar feeling about this.

And Crouch? Geez. Played last week as though he hadn't played a game of AFL footy in 7 weeks. Was terrible early, got a bit better as it went on. Better for the run surely. But dropped straight away. Ridiculous stuff. There were a string of awful performances last week.

And who replaced him? Mackay, Jaensch or Wright? It's not as though they were absolutely belting the door down with exemplary performances for weeks on end.

Amuses me that people want to trade our depth players that have no currency, but if they get a game and increase their currency they whinge.

If we dropped all the out of form senior players we'd be walloped worse than last week. No youngsters would develop .

I'd rather us rotate than play them til they run out of steam. That works well for ever club that tries it.

Mackay is being traded out by some posters but for this to happen we can't drop him in the 2nd half of the season.
