It's no secret Cutler essentially sabotaged Trestman's offense, refusing to operate within the confines of the system. Rumours flying around about trying for Kap. Pretty clear they are trying to move Cutler if they can and that is a massive IF.
Lost B Marsh to the Jets for pretty much nothing, I was very disappointed personally to lose such a good player for so little but their is obviously issues there.
Pernell McPhee has agreed to join the Bear's on a 40 million, 16 guaranteed 5 year deal.

Few coaches love veterans more than John Fox.
Which is a good thing, since he has more of them than any coach in the NFL.
According to Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com, the Bears have 14 players on their roster at the moment age 30 or older.
Fox is a known truster of old guys, and looks at rookies with skepticism until they get a few years under them. Remember, the year he went to his first Super Bowl, his Week 1 starter at quarterback was Rodney Peete (though Jake Delhomme replaced him at halftime of the opener). And the Bears have a quarterback now who Fox had little use for in Carolina (Jimmy Clausen), who has drawn good reviews from those in Chicago now that he’s not an over-his-head rookie.
The Jets, Bengals, Colts and 49ers are next on the seasoned-player list with 12 each, while the Jaguars, Packers, Buccaneers and Rams are tied for youngest with four each.
Generally speaking, you’d rather be on the younger side of that list than the older for economic and longevity issues. But having some 30-plus guys around can also lend some stability, which coaches like Fox in Chicago, Todd Bowles with the Jets and Jim Tomsula in San Francisco are going to need as they rebuild.

General manager Ryan Pace hoped to address needs in free agency so he could be in a position to pick the best player available in the draft. But Pace’s free-agent haul contains only three contracts longer than one year. He will be rebuilding through the draft, which was his original formula anyway.
Here are the Bears’ top-five draft needs after free agency:
Safety
The Bears only have three safeties on their roster: Antrel Rolle, Ryan Mundy and Brock Vereen. Alabama’s Landon Collins is the best safety in a thin class, and he won’t last past the first round. The Bears have looked at safeties who will be available later, including Ole Miss’ Cody Prewitt, Northwestern’s Ibraheim Campbell and Alabama’s Nick Perry. Veteran cornerback Alan Ball was signed to a one-year deal worth potentially $3 million, indicating that the Bears might be willing to wait on cornerbacks in the draft.
Interior defensive line
Defensive ends Ray McDonald and Jarvis Jenkins should be penciled in as starters with nose tackle Jeremiah Ratliff in the Bears’ 3-4. The team has some flexibility because outside linebackers Pernell McPhee and Lamarr Houston can play on the line. But improving their line rotation with some young talent to go with second-year tackles Ego Ferguson and Will Sutton is important, and Pace said the Seattle Seahawks are a model. Coach John Fox said this year’s draft class is deep with front-seven defenders.

Bears first-round WR Kevin White (shin) has now been sidelined for more than six weeks.
White continues to make progress, but remains on active/PUP. The Bears have declined to give any kind of timetable or reveal the exact nature of his injury. "I hope sooner rather than later, but that's just a hope," coach John Fox said. Once cleared, White will have a lot of ground to make up under notorious rookie hater Fox. Alshon Jeffery, Martellus Bennett, Matt Forte and Eddie Royal are all competent targets for Jay Cutler.

Disappointing about White...personally I didn't like him at all....but ignoring my evaluation....even IF white struggles this year, you guys are still pretty ok at WR, RB, TE, Defense. It's really Cutler that's the issue that will likely still see an average year out of him, and you guys will no doubt be looking at drafting a franchise QB next year.

Bears first-round WR Kevin White (shin splints) could miss the entire preseason.
White is reportedly "symptom free," and has resumed running, but the Bears want him to take things slow so his shin issues do not recur. With Chicago's regular season dress rehearsal still nearly three weeks away, it's far too early to rule White out for the entire preseason.

Marcus Mariota and Geno Smith have gotten more attention for their INT-free streaks, but Smokin' Jay has been careful with the ball for new coach John Fox. Cutler admits it means little for the regular season. "Camp’s camp," Cutler said. "We’re not getting hit. These aren’t live bullets. So we’ll see what happens when we start going." Cutler's leash will be much shorter than his contract dictates this season.

Willie Young is listed as a third-team outside linebacker on the Bears' initial training camp depth chart.
The switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4 isn't going well for Young, and he may be on the trade block in Chicago following an impressive 10-sack season. Despite blowing out his Achilles' in Week 16, Young avoided active/PUP to open camp. There would be no shortage of interested teams should he hit the market.

The Bears seem to be pushing that White's injury is only a severe case of shin splits, even though it's lingered on for over six weeks. A stress fracture would've been the worst case scenario. Still, this seems like an injury White could continue to battle into the season, even if he's active on game days. We're continuing to shy away from White as more than a WR4/5.

Jeremy Langford powered his way to 80 yards on nine carries in Saturday's preseason win against the Colts.
Langford got a head of steam going on a 46-yard dash in the third quarter, nearly taking it all the way. Later in the quarter, he broke two tackles on his way to a gorgeous two-yard touchdown. The fourth-round pick showed nice vision Saturday and was patient in waiting for his holes to open up. It's a big improvement from last week when Langford totaled one yard on four carries in a win against the Dolphins.

The Bears have openly acknowledged that White's injury could cost him his entire rookie year. At minimum, White will miss the first six games on the reserve/PUP list. The team still has not provided a concrete return timetable.

There's little chance the Bears trade Jeffery; at least, we don't think Pace is that stupid. Jeffery is making near-minimum, and even though he's scheduled to be a free agent next spring, he's an ideal candidate for the franchise tag if there's no extension. Forte makes more sense. He'll be 30 in December, is in the final year of his contract, and would make for a prime sell-high candidate. Martellus Bennett could also generate some interest.

Indeed. They had the look of a 3-13 team in preseason. Then the "fire sale" period a couple weeks ago portended a 3-13 season. But they've been resilient.

Pace is an astute GM and heres hoping he is still there in 10 years as I think we can really build something. The past draft looks to be a good one, we are starting to get younger (and better) and Pace has cleaned out the distractors in the locker room.
Fox is a good hire, just for stability in the next few years while we try to build a roster, if we can keep Gase next year, it might make sense to offer him the HC role at the end of next season.
Cutler will be staying, as there is no better alternative out there. He's middle of the pack QB but that's better than a lot of other teams and his play this year under Gase has been better (and his body language).
This offseason will be intriguing. They need to pay Jeffrey (or tag him at worst). Forte..is he now expendable? - teams think they can find a running back anywhere now and Langford was impressive Monday night. Will they move Long to LT?
I still haven't given up on this year - Our schedule gets softer after the next 3 weeks - Very Optimistic I know - but as long as we keep building, stay competitive and Pace/Fox continue to create a healthy locker room....my nightmares of the Emery/Trestman era may quietly subside.
