Nah. Staying at home with some restrictions doesn’t compare to war.
Was obviously comparing it to experiencing WWII FROM home, not the frontline.

Can't think of any other time there would have been near-rationing and restriction of movement across the entire country outside WWII, hence the comparison (which specifically stated that it was perhaps the closest thing, not "It's exactly the same thing, probably even worse"). Not sure what the objection is other than the standard misplaced 'look how much I support the troops' rhetoric.

How are these 1 in 4 people breaking isolation I thought we had them all locked up in hotels under police guard? Is this the scum that arrived back beforehand?

I’ve been very happy with both Morrison and Andrews so far. Very fortunate that we live in Australia compared to a lot of other places around the world.

Andrews, Scomo, McGowan, Marshall, et al will do Dubya.

Even Trump’s ratings are up... and we all know how he’s done.

Personally, Scomo just lacks ideas. Nobody knew how to block US arrivals until Ardern put an all country self isolation in place. 24 hours later Scomo did a copy cat.

Andrews has been Mr politician with his talk of “essential” services before the national cabinet meeting. That was a politically inspired leak if ever there was one. The Grand Prix and the bans on fishing / bonking have been a few examples of silliness.

Nobody’s been perfect and they’re also lucky that due to the size of the country, people aren’t packed on top of each other like sardines.

Is there rationing in Australia now? I haven’t seen much of that. Just a few things like eggs and toilet paper where you can only get one pack at a time.

lots of 2x limits
TP, mince,hand wash

I'm worried about complacency. Singapore are already on the rise since easing restriction. We can't afford to ease up or we could risk spiralling out of control. I know Scomo says this could last 6 months but I'm not so sure. We cannot even look at China's figures as they've already shown how little we can trust them. How are we going to comfortably ease restrictions without a vaccine? This could be 12-18 months at minimum social distancing and fu** all of a life. It's gonna
be a long road.

Perhaps it will sound a little dramatic, but do think this is the closest thing to experiencing WWII for contemporary generations, just in terms of the mental/emotional strain (shorter period, but still). Certainly a far more invasive existential concern than Cold War nuclear concerns when it comes to day to day life.

And quite a lot of us feel like we've been sent to jail for committing no crimes. In fact, I bet you that the actual prisoners of crime get treated much better than us.
6 months is too long given the mental vulnerability of many members in the community. For a long time we've talked about Beyond Blue, Lifeline etc.. but its not the same as being their with friends or people in their warm embrace. I feel that in that time-frame that the suicide rates alone will dwarf anything that COVID could ever do. We can't shut down for that long because otherwise what do we have to go to?

I mean after all its taken generations after generations after generations of socialising to get to the point before everything went strange and for the governments to tell its citizens to go against human nature it is understandable the push-back to said restrictions especially considering that for the vast majority of the times the government has betrayed the needs and whats best for the states and/or nation instead of selling out our land to foreign ownership or abandoning their post when it came to the bush-fires. In other words, "when we needed you for the bush-fires you partied around the word and left us to burn and now you want us to give-up our lives, because of COVID, feck off!" type of thing

My Brain at 93% down from 95% since my last post.

I see a lot of blame being thrown towards a race of people but very little being thrown at a species. Big Bat has done an outstanding job of deflecting the blame during this entire crisis. Show me one investigative report into Bats, they've obviously been paying off the media to keep it hush hush. Unbelievable.

Toughen up Princess!

You are free to go outside and excise to some degree.
You have unrestricted internet
You don't have big hairy or bald blokes coming onto you from time to time.
You are not confined to a "cell" most of the time (I hope).
You have not been jailed for years or decades.
You can dial a pizza or whatever suits your fancy.

Maybe look at it, as a test for when there is an even worse virus, or some other disaster where you will be at even far greater personal risk if you were to go outside.

IMO, those advocating for a removal of the lockdown are almost committing treason.
Would not surprise me if some of our enemies would wish a relaxing of the lockdown on us.
Just like the fake Dr WHO and some Chinese so called "diplomats" appeared to be strongly advocating that we should not lock down our borders to there trojan horses potentially infected terrorists.

I anticipated this situation, along with a whole bunch of other posters In this thread, while Morrison was still telling people to shake hands and go to the footy. They were monumental fu**-ups that helped spread the disease. Once he cottoned on to what Bogan34 from Big Footy already knew, he has made less mistakes. But trying to pass those utensil ups off as something that was just a bit hard when others were telling him he was cocking up at the time is disingenuous at best, partisan nonsense at worst.
Yep, the OP on a football forum foretold of something potentially extremely dangerous back in January, but it's China's and the WHOs fault that world leaders didn't take it seriously to begin. Go figure. :drunk: :drunk: :drunk:

Over 20 degrees in London, the Poms will be heading to Hyde Park in droves trying to get some sun on their pasty white bodies, Boris Johnson included,

The Old Bill better be on their toes to keep social distancing.

Good luck banning the Poms from pubs too, there are so many pubs in London, like pubs hidden away that the cops wouldn't even know about.

There was a pub behind our place in Acton which was basically a pub for the housing estate there and if you didn't live there you wouldn't know about it.

I wouldn't be surprised if that pub was still open, social distancing wouldn't be a problem though as there was only a few old drunks in there at one time.

Pubs aren't still open and they just fined a publican that was doing lock ins.

Pub rents would be a big issue in the trade at the moment I'd imagine. The rate of pub closures over there is bad enough as is, this could decimate them further.

Not long before some of the pubs and clubs are all nationalised.
And they all have big signs outside saying proudly sponsored by ......
Every can of beer to be embossed with "Thanks ScoMo".

I sure hope not. I like my locals.
