Coughlan v Cloke

Debate over whether we should've grabbed Cloke, J instead of the young perth product, well the jury may soon return its verdict.

After watching last night's match at the 'G', and other games as well, thank god we didn't grab Cloke .. He is without doubt THE WORST kick in the league .. Imagine this boy linking up with Kellaway, D and King, C .. It would make the final of Funniest Home Videos..

He's full of valour, can take a mark, but he's one dimensional and is a liability out of defence while a forward he would never make.

Here's hoping his siblings are similarly as poor in their kicking.

BTW, anyone notice how many times Coughlan has hit a leading Richo on the chest without the big man breaking stride .. We've longed for that while Cogs can play either side of his body too - His form is still strong even though he's getting more attention each week.

And ironically Redford, it was with the draft choice that we would have used to grab Cloke that we got Cogs ... I know which one I'd prefer. essendon certainly did their homework on young Clokey ... when all they needed to really do was to look at the RoarPower board about three months ago when we dismantled Jason's playing ... er ... style comprehensively.

Not sure what you are talking about here Caspar ? Don't ever recall saying that we should have taken Cloke over Coughlan. You must have me confused with someone else. In fact, I was critical of Frawley and co. for not giving him enough of a go last year and also in the first half of the season this year.

But should we have taken Coughlan first round then Cloke second round? That would mean not taking Pettifer at all. I know it is all hindsight... but would you take Cloke over Pettifer?

As for pettifer v Cloke...time will tell.
So far I'd prefer pettifer.

BUT

We could have had them both....Hawthorn were happy to give us their second round pick for Daffy....they thought it was done.

there are two versions of why we didn't do this...

1.//Brayshaws'phone was off and couldn't be contacted to ratify the deal.

2.//Frawley decided the deal wasn't good enough.

As for Cloke...is it jason we miss...or the prospect of other Clokes being really good ? We need to move on ! We don't have 'em.

Rodan, I can tell you that the deal with Hawthorn re: Daffy fell through as Spud, and co. were actually driving out to Glenferrie to put their final stamp on things. Spud had a change of heart at the very last minute - something I'll bet he and the club regrets now. Source: one of the parties that was in the car with him.

It's over now anyway...can't change it and I'd much prefer stafford to Cloke...that's for sure... so maybe it's for the best.

Anyway, thinking back never produces forward action.

Spud needs to do whatever it takes this time around though...
