Two safer closer/wider options too. Moore rightfully ignored those, ran another 10m and hit the more difficult option much further up the ground. As great as the kick was his decision making and confidence was something else.

His kicking was the best I've seen it. Previously, I've felt it was a bit Oxley like when attacking in that a lot looked like really nice kicks but fell a bit short of the target and to the oppositiin.

The other flaw is that you take away his ability to regularly run and jump at the footy unimpeded, as well as taking away the daring run, carry and delivery that is starting to become a real weapon. He's a dream defender.

When's the last time you a KPF from any team was as influential as Moore was against the Dogs.

He is a special talent, I’m not saying to play him forward but let’s never count it out because you think he’s an average forward. He could be one of the greats, back or forward.

Except he wasn’t. His numbers in his first few years mirrored a number of key forwards who became elite, and that was done with no support.

Moore is never going to have any real impact up forward until we sort out our fwd50 delivery problems.

This is the part of the purging that was always going to bite us in the rse.

Treloar and Phillips had great attributes to move the ball out of the centre, giving us the illusion of competitive midfield. By that I mean that they were able to move the ball out of the midfield.

However delivery into the forward line was abysmal - on that any midfield must be judged - and correctly they were found wanting, and badly wanting at that.

So we find ourselves without the crutches we used to base our midfield belief upon and no clear instant replacements.

McCreery shows promise and may be promoted but the vexed question is Grundy, something seems to be missing he's a shadow of what he was which is unacceptable. Cox is a possibility for the centre bounces but not around the ground, but do we use Grundy around the ground where he has always been better than in the centre or is there a deeper issue with the big bloke?

I have been banging on about proper specialist coaches for years now and I stand by it.

We need a full time ruck coach.

We need a full time goal kicking coach.

The appointment of these would see a corresponding turnaround in both areas.

If funds are the problem cuts must be made in other areas.

Competent goal kicking and ruck work should be a minimum requirement for any side in modern football.

Can’t agree, why is the delivery so poor? Because the forwards are s**t, they never provide a target get sucked up the ground and leave us with nobody to kick to so we have to hold the ball up buy time and by the time we do that the defence is set

I think most people are say - and I totally agree is that it doesn't matter because our midfield is a rabble and until it becomes halfway capable of semi decent delivery to advantage into our forward line moving Darcy forward would send his career into decline - in relation to his AA seasons in the back line.

Agree totally, we wouldn't be using his talents optimally up forward right now, but for anyone to call him an ordinary forward is a little disingenuous.

The big problem is that Mr and Mrs. Moore didn't have have twins like Mr and Mrs. King did.

I agree 100%, but sadly it's a midfielder's award and has been for a long time now.

The best players do generally play mid and with talls it's just hard to be as consistent as the mids - plus talls get marked against their opponent as well. Mids can play on someone who gets 35 possessions and still get 3 votes.

Judd is a vexed issue for me.
A fine player no doubt but overhyped for mine because of what I saw often in his early career.
Far too often I saw his west coast team mates physically form a corridor for him to run through unimpeded.
Nothing wrong or illegal but putting it in context of his veneration I come away without being convinced at all.
