Deledio started off well in this pole know murphy has caught it up going to be interesting

It's like Cousins at his best and Judd at his best. Judd's going to be his swashbuckling self, bursting through packs with speed and delivering to forwards and can rip a game open in 20 mins, obviously very noticable and eyecatching.... maybe like Deledio down the track. Cousins will run himself into the ground, be an in and out mid and deliver lace out to the forwards and maybe not so eyecatching.... maybe like Murphy down the track.

Who is the most likely to go on in there career and win and brownlow or go close to it just want to hear every1s opinions

If this is the actual question then its simple.

Deledio, whether due to his own preferrence or due to his coaches, has spent a lot of time in the backline, and now in the forward line.

NO BROWNLOW THERE.

Murph spends his time in the midfield..........that's where Brownlows are won.

Neither will win one, but based on where they currently spend time position wise there is no contest.

Murph easily.

Deledio because he is more essential to his teams success.

With the introduction of Judd and the return of Stevens, Murphy is his clubs 4th best midfielder behind the 2 I mentioned and Carrazzo which makes him a lot less of a focal point and less likely to rack up as many touches

Both are currently 6/10 players (both good enough to get a regular game in any team - incl Geelong). Deledio is potentially more versatile with potential to be a handy forward as well as a running mid-fielder, but Murphy has the potential to be as good as Greg Williams. Murphy can become 9/10 player over the longer term, whereas I think Deledio will be a 8/10 player over the longer term.

I'm looking forward to seeing Lids play more up forward in '08 and top last season's total of 21 goals. :thumbsu:

Deledio isnt as tough as Murphy, but he does have great skills when he is being the sheepdog he is. Murphy goes after the hardball and gives 100% all game. Murphy by a little bit, and by a lot at the seasons end.

As long as they both keep progressing I rank them fairly even. Deledio more flair and Murphy more of the workhorse type. A team needs both to succeed.

The deciding factor I think is it is harder to get a reasonably consistant player of the Deledio type then it is to have a decent workhorse type. That puts Deledio in front (with my vote).

But at Essendon, would take Murphy as we need his type more then the flair type. ;)

Deledio is one of the strongest players at the RFC and can bench press more weight than anyone else at the club.

He might be strong and can bench press a heap, but, he still won't go after the hard ball! Soft. Its ok to be strong, but, its better to be strong and use it in a game. The only thing he lacks!

deledio just on pace and marking thats it. deledio would be more damaging than murphy in a talented side like geelong.

Deledio is more versatile. Can probably play most positions on the field. His overhead marking is one of his prime strengths. Can play as a key forward or as a crumbing one. Can play midfield or defence. Electrifying pace, good footskills.
Murphy will be a very good player. Finds the ball and uses it well even at this early stage.
Both completely different types of players.
Obvious bias for having seen Deledio far more than Murphy, but I'm very happy with Deledio.
I won't say Deledio by a long way, but he wins...no question about it.

I'm biased, but I just think Deledio because of the versatility. Yes, he hasn't been able to shake a tag YET, but whatever position he has played he has had success. Murphy will always be a midfielder, and a very good one, but like someone else said, I just think he lacks the ability to change games. I'm thinking more of a Scott West player (I'm sure Blues fans will be happy with that comparison anyway :))

Pretty corny line coming up, but, I reckon Murphy gets you to a Grand Final, but Deledio will win it for you.

I'd like both.

But I vote for Murphy because he's pure footballer and has shown he can play midfield. I'm not sure Deledio has just yet because he's more outside and a forward who pushes up the ground.

Murphy has the poise you just can't teach.

You have to laugh at those who say he won't be a game breaker, Murphy created about five goals in his first game and we won by five kicks. Murphy had knocked up four consecutive 20 plus possession game and 6 all up in his thirteen games before he was injured. Deledio had just the three 20 plus possession games in his debut year where he played every single game.

Murphy will be more like a Cousins or Kerr than West because his kicking to our forwards is great to watch.

His kicking is fine.

You must have misinterpreted what I was saying. I was actually replying to the comment made by Time to rise Blues! when he said "Who needs penetration when you are trying to do team things?"

That wasn't having a go at Murphy, was just saying that most good players have good penetration on their kick, and that, that particular attribute shouldn't be taken lightly.

Deledio's first year was outstanding. 2007 was mediocre. In 2007 Deledio was the only quality midfield talent on the Tiges list, and so Terry decides to play him on the HF flank. Terry Logic. lol. Didn't like his attitude in 2007. Lame second efforts, and a few on field sooks when he was asked to play a role in the backline. Not great. The guy has ability, and needs to be put in the middle, tag or no tag, and basically told to toughen up and show some ticker. Really thought his development went backwards in 2007, after a very promising start to his career. The Tigers have a shocking player development record. Lets just hope he doesn't go down the same path as Roden, Tambling and Fiora. Murph is top-shelf midfield talent. Pure class in everything he does. A future superstar. :)

Thought you might have been a tad harsh there. I see where you are coming from and I do agree with you in the most part, but I think he learnt a lot when he was playing up forward. and would have learnt a bit from playing back-flank as well. And therefore I don't think he's development went backwards as such.

Do agree with you about the midfield thing though, needs to be played there. He will overcome the tagging problem in time, there is no doubt about that, just that Terry needs to persist with him there even when he's beat.

Look for Deledio to spend more time in the midfield and rest forward in '08 :thumbsu:
