Do Collingwood need to enter a rebuild phase?

The age profile of some of the key performers is concerning.
They wouldn't want to lose them all at the same time.
Probably time to hit the draft.
Maxine's have a new performer who some have described as the GOAT.

Supposedly brings out a special double act from time to time (September popular) where team up with the old veterans that has won a few awards.

Exciting times ahead for the Maxine punters 👍

Nah your triggered HARD

Trying to deal with finally looking down tha barrel of long term sh!tness is daunting
Pies have proven time and time again they dont stay down for long and wont spend 4-6 years on the bottom
Agreed, the formerly mighty Eagles are now as soft as jelly, threw the toys out of the cot during covid and never recovered

They could go the same way as University and Fitzroy if they don't harden up

As expected neutrals are still going with list is the be all and end all. Zero or 100, nothing in between.

'The quality won't be replaced', no it won't, but you're all forgetting is that this club is a system based club that is less 'personnel' reliant than other clubs.

We've brought in supposed spuds since our disastrous fire sale of covid years, for example, Brought in Cameron, lost Grundy.

So after 2021, the cliff was meant to swallow the club, can the neutrals please explain what happened? How did we flag after falling off that cliff?

A system based game plan and list but 25% of the tream will not be there in 12 months. And it isn't the bottom 25%.

In 2021 those players who are about to retire end of 2026 were 5 years younger. And still had good football left in them.

That's the difference.

Pies have stayed up longer than most can.

No denying that. Always in the hunt for free agents or trades.

Eagles refresh via the draft and seem to hit gold every 11 to 12 years. No shame in that.

Prior to the three peat Richmond spent how long in the wilderness? A long...loooong time.

And now Tigers are rebuilding again with an unproven coach and the previous premiership building President plus premiership coach, both top operators No longer there.

Not sure where this confidence in rebuilding comes from.

25% of 23 (the team) is (5.75) between 5-6 players. So which 5 to 6 players will be gone by 2027?
Here is my best 23 with oldies at the top;

Pendlebury (1 year contract)
Sidebottom (1 year)
Howe (1 year)
Elliott (2 year contract)
Membrey (1 year)
Crisp (1 year)
DeGoey (2 years)
Cameron (4 years)
Moore (3 years)
Maynard (4 years)
Houston (5 years)
Frampton (1 year)
J Daicos (4 years)
N Daicos (5 years)
Long (2 years)
Perryman (5 years)
McStay (2 years)
Hill (5 years)
Schultz (2 years)
McCreery (2 years)
Buller (2 years)
Lipinski (2 years)
Quaynor (3 years)

Short of key position players and no injury cover.

Key backs Moore Frampton (Howe and Maynard can also play tall if required)
Key forwards McStay, Buller and Membrey (sort of but plays tall)

I posted a best 23 so I didn't include injury cover but here is some

McInnes (was preferred early last year over Frampton and is back to full training from an ACL)(KPB)

Steele mid season pick up who played 5 games late in 2025 and looked good on the wing

Parker Cat B hbf who played late last year and looked good.

Harrison has now come back from an ACL. Was a solid small forward at AFL level and has great speed and endurance.

Allan played about 13 games last year mostly off the wing. Can play hbf or midfield.

West KPF dominated VFL as an 18 year old last year despite struggling a bit with a foot injury, playing 1 AFL game.

So god forbid Daicos went down for an extended period

Daicos
Long
Perryman

Like to think there’s a young mid smashing the door down
McCreery did well with a very good centre bounce clearance record for limited time. We recruited 3 this year so hopefully we can add a few soon.
But agree it will be an issue after Pendlebury Sidebottom and Crisp retire if we cant find a couple good ones in the next few years.

Maybe have a look at the bottom of my post
Richmond won 8 premierships in 54 years in my life time

Not many clubs have had that type of success
But that has nothing to do with it and we can only talk about the current

Currently the collingwood football club will still be in contention to win a premiership and they always find a way to stay up there and not stay down for more than a couple of years. where the eagles have already been rebuilding for 4 years and last year just 1 win. That is absolutely shocking

More cover for him although losing the best player going into 2026 wouldn’t be ideal.

Cover for NAS should be interesting.....care to illuminate us all?
But yes losing StKilda's best player for 2026 would be unfortunate....and something I'd never wish on any club (even if I was trying to incite others to heap rubbish on said club)

;)

Why would anyone want that.
Merely pointing out the holes in an aging list.
