Losing to Brisbane at home would also indicate no progress, given the last two results were a win and draw.
Though I do remember posting at the time that I didn’t think it was a huge scalp. They kicked 10.18

A loss to the reigning premiers and current 2nd team isn't a death sentence for our season
A win there is a bonus
A win over Sydney is crucial for our authenticity
Mentally they all are, for different reasons.
Beating Sydney is a must, we likely wont have a better chance. The monkey will be off the back.
Beating the other 2, or even one of them means we are actually capable of beating the best, not just matching them for periods.

Hawks away yes. A win there would be massive
Brisbane at home no. We've always been able to beat good teams here sometimes, even in awful years. Doesn't shift the needle even though it would be nice
Sydney away is a game changer. Hawks away a huge game changer.
Goal posts keep getting moved in regards to crows being a serious or improved team.
First it was beating GC in GC. Nope, we lost that one. Then it's against Geelong. Nope, lost that one too. We should take care of Freo on their home deck if we're serious. You guessed it...lost that one. An injured Collingwood team, we should finally be able to beat them at the G if we've progressed as a team. Lost that!
Now it's beating Sydney in Sydney. If we lose that, it'll become "if we're serious, we'll beat Brisbane at AO".
It's kinda funny really.

For me the needle is more about how we win as much as who weve beaten.
I dont think theres much doubt weve played better footy as a rule, and weve got more talent in the side so we should be better.

Sydney is a great benchmark and fits all the hallmarks of a game we would normally definitely lose.
We're considered slight favourites.
They are a good side, but struggling.
It's an away game.
It's a team Nicks has never beaten.
Has player/s that always rip us to shreds (Heeney).
Any normal non-biased person would expect us to lose against Brisbane and the Hawks. Sydney is absolutely the one we have to win to push the idea that we've improved and beaten someone we didn't beat last year and that our improvement is not just down to a varied fixture.

Some truth in this but we're winning enough games to keep ourselves asking the question I think
4-7 and beating Sydney away wouldn't make any difference. We'd already know by then.

Not beating Sydney will be very disappointing. They have lots of injuries, and a couple important players suspended.
They will be rushing in some underdone players returning from injury too. And they've sucked this year.

Burns was on 5aa few days ago and it was pleasing to hear him say that despite their ladder position, they're not getting ahead of themselves because they're fully aware of what teams they have beaten and lost to, or yet to play.

It would be nicer if they approached selection on the basis of a need to find improvement instead of just giving lip service to recognising it.

Only 9 teams can make finals imo... & it's Hawthorn, Fremantle or GWS who are most likely to miss out.
I've got us finishing on 15 wins, we are more than capable of this. That puts us in the top 4.
We NEED to beat Collingwood here at AO
If we lose to them again , facing them in a big final at the MCG with those mental demons is a recipe for disaster
I agree - I've had enough of losing to them by small margins, and I hope the players have had enough too.
