Keilor recruits plenty don't worry about that. As for Strathmore you seem to forget an important point, if your good enough you will play. All the so called young guns who have left are not good enough.

who were the young guns not good enough? a few seem to still be there abouts: toniolo, james, staudt, fielding, contessa. mind you, i'm not suggesting for a minute that any of those boys will get a game this year with Strathmore's strong list.

are there any young guns (under 18s) within a grade, outside of TAC Cup lists?

there are a few. bar strathmore(already done)... i think these blokes go pretty well personally.
Douttas - Pearson, Hart, French, Christie
Greenvale - Provenzano, Nankervis, Thompson
Aberfeldie - Jacobs, Suarez, Robertson(if he plays)
Oak park - Crosswell, Anderson
Cantelmi and Tancredi from B grade should be on the Jets list.

I dont really know anyone from Keilor as I havent seen them this year, but there would be a fair few.

Barts, any personal thoughts on the Strathmore players mentioned earlier (Toniolo, Staudt, Fielding, James, Contessa)? they seem to be the future of the Mores.

But lm sure Eagle1 Greenvale spent more money on players last year than Strathmore!
It seems this year the tied has changed.......wouldn't it be funny if Greenvale took the A grade flag home.....:D

Strathmore clearly spent more GV last year, but becasue gv finshed on top and stathmore finished 3rd everybody thinks strathmore were the under dogs. If most remember Strathmore were clearly early season favourites last year, with keilor a clear second. Many believed, myself included that GV would merely make up the numbers.

Strathmore did have some injuries during the year that would have saved some money (obrien, runalls and thomas only started playing mid way through), but i think gv would have also had the same through Bloomfield, Garbutt + Budge.

I am not implying that strathmore had a better side, but everybody knows you have to pay sweeteners to players in your first year to get players to your club and gv had more local kids playing for less. Thus Strathmore spent more.

Its the same at keilor, they have guys playing for much less than they could get elsewhere cause they have been there for 5-6 years or played juniors there.

There is a kid at east keilor on a TAC cup list that is playing EK seniors. Also the same is happening at Keilor, Oak Park??? and Greenvale but thier kids are not playing seniors, only under 18s. Also The younger Burns brother has played at least one game for GV.

Nick James will be a very good forward if he wants to. Karl Staudt is hard at it and will be a handy in and under. Fielding would be a good winger IMO but not sure what possie he plays now, Contessa could be a utility to fill gaps and Toniolo has good pace and would be a good midfielder if he works hard. Id say if they are all committed they will be valuable members to any side they play for. Andrew Horne obviously is the one you want to keep hold of but seeing what happened to his brother, who knows. Other Cannons players that might come back are also worth chasing after to keep. Ive never really understood Hille's reasons for getting rid of many of last years 18s, as they are all quality footballers. Dont have much info on the bottom age players. Took an interest in U18 football last year but not much this year.

Ashley Arrowsmith would be his name. Playing CHF/FF kicking a few goals. 190cm mark and moves well. DiMartino is a quality junior ruck and as Keilor usually does, will get him back if he doesent get drafted. Dont know any juniors playing for Oak Park, but Jack Pascu is going to be a fair player. Greenvale are in a similiar position to Strathmore with a strong 1s team, so the juniors filter through to the reserves. If they dont make the grade they move. Many players in their 18s this year are good players, but play for enjoyment and have missed seasons before out of no interest.

Dill, surely you can't disrespect an honest good football like Barclay?

I rate him highly as a footballer and as a bloke, like many others in the edfl!
:thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

I think it may be time to stop bagging your own team mates champ!

with all the talk about who has come what from comp, does anyone know if this comp are going to have a rep match this year and who will it be against. only after that will everyone know where the edfl rates.
also who is playing well in this comp this year and deserves a spot in the side.
i cant see many from kp,ek and cr/burn getting a go, so most of the players im sure would come from the top 4/5 teams.

:) Dear Merc. Have you gone to bed? Sounds like you've played in this league before. Also you have some fans in the CMFL forum, but dont get a big head. YOUR SHOUT.

have to agree with u there about tanka(tancredi) is a little gun kicked 7 on the weekend and only stands just over 5 foot tall played in our senior praccy matches during pre season and found plenty of the pill and is hard at it 4 his size hopefully we can get him 4 a few senior games throughout the year but finding it hard as there is a bit of a stand off with the 18's coach as we already have 3 of his boys playing ones and they don't want us 2 take anymore

nah don't think there will be just like last year as they found it too hard getting the best team together as most of the boys wanted the weeks break when the mid season break came along and didn't want to risk injury and jeopardise the footy club they play for 4 the sake of a one off game a la state of origin, as 4 a team gee now that would b a nightmare trying to pick from both grades, if and when i do do a team i will post it maybe in about 3 months time coz thats how much of a headache it would be

Heard Moonee Valley will struggle 2 field seniors and ressie this week and rest of the year, cause of alot of senior players walkin out after there 40 goal loss on the weekend. Anyone know anything bout it

It's a real shame, they are clearly going through a tough time!
There are many people to blame for the situation they are in at the moment and it's a real shame that in this day and age no one can be held accountable for it and there actions!

Paying players mega bucks over the last couple years and then blokes f u cking off when the coin drys up...shame, shame, shame!
Those blokes/players know who they are.....l will ask this question tho, how do you get to sleep at night?

Sayers, Dalley, Ogston, Gowland, Morrison, Watts(U18), Dedman(U18), May, Condon, Mazzeo, Campbell, Ciantar all played in the premiership side. I don't see your point. Not even counting guys who "had been there for 5-6 years". Good mix of young guys, experienced players and recruits. No one played more U18's in senior footy in 2005 than Starthmore. Thus Strathmore didn't spend more.
