So Adz, where was your thread when Ablett was booed all game Round 1 vs Collingwood....?

Disgusting behaviour by Collingwood fans right....???

Or Sheed and Gaff when we played them, i guess that is ok though, only a problem when it's a Pies player.

Probably been said. I get the Essendon supporters frustration, it was an appalling missed free kick right in front of the umpire. But it was inappropriate and poor behaviour to boo when they did at the presentations and Buckley was right to call it out.

Somebody booed!

The horror, the horror!
Somebody booed? Pendlebury was about to make his acceptance speech and appeared rattled by the booing of 1000’s directed at him. Nobody else was on stage......and you think that’s okay?

Boo, what does it actually mean?

I remember you used to hide behind an object, then when someone approached, you jumped out and yelled boo, to scare them.
Are supporters trying to scare the players and the umpires?

I have a big surprise for the booers, the umps and players can see you.

Yeah that was wrong too - I didn't boo but I don't make excuses for those who did either.

Perhaps you would like Riewoldts view on the Essendon booing:
“In the post-game, the five or 10 minutes when we’re here to celebrate Anzac Day, for it to carry on like it did … we’ve got to be better than that,” Riewoldt said.

or maybe Dunstall - another champion
"I just think we’re condoning inappropriate behaviour though. If I’m taking my kids to the footy, I want to teach them the right things about sportsmanship,” Dunstall responded.
"Yeah really disappointed that we’ve lost, but I’m not going to boo the winners because that’s sour grapes.”

Poor sports - sooks - disrespectful...not all Essendon supporters BTW.
Those explayers have an impartiality to their comments. It was the right sentiment, but it wasn't Buckley's place to enter the debate.

Why not? He has gone up in my estimation. No point burying our heads in a bucket of sand

Probably look at the reason for the booing don't look at the end result. It was a match full of very poor umpiring decisions, lets go from Pendelbury having a flop, Mason Cox doing his best Ben Brown impersonation, the non holding the ball calls. Now you combine that and what happens...you get a fed up road that will and rightly so voice their disapproval. This was a boo aimed at the umpiring purely and simply They may have been off the field, but this was a statement. If this improves the umpiring and puts focus on them, I say good on Essendon fans for taking a stand. What do you want them to do? Roll over and take it? You know the way to stop booing- improve the umpiring standard which is horrific.

My boo started well beforehand as I refused to watch this game at all, the Anzac day match should be between the previous years grand finalists - not bloody Collingwood and Essendon every year.

maybe they were upset at getting 2 goals gifted in front of goals

For Christ’s sake. The umps handed them two goals from shit frees out of their 10. And they were crucified? Give me a rest.

For god sake people, this is exactly like the Adam Goodes situation several years ago. Have a bit of a think. Adam Goodes wasn't booed as a racist thing. It was because the guy acts like a total knob at times. Yesterday the booing wasn't at the umpires. It was because he played for a gutless free kick at a crucial stage of the game. If he hadn't have done that then yes it can be called disgraceful.

And he thinks Goodes was the knob? Lol.

There is a dude on Twitter with plenty of time on his hands ...

Moore - yep, had prior, should have been a free to Essendon.

Crisp - maybe a free but also got the handball away, no issue here.

Cox - Hooker clearly has locked Cox’s arm at the elbow joint. Free to Cox, good call.

Mihocek - If Higgins’ goal last year wasn’t considered a throw I don’t see why this would be. 50/50 call when played slowly and at this particular close-up angle, which umpires don’t get the benefit of anyway. Ok decision considering all this.

Pendlebury - people are actually complaining about this? Ball on the ground, head over the ball, Merrett came charging in head-on. Just sloppy work from Merrett and a free every day of the week.

Tippa - does himself no favours with his attempts to avoid tackles by dropping at the knees. 50/50 call but looks like this one should have been a free.

Stephenson - someone posted the rule in the gameday thread. Basically, getting one arm pulled with no prior opportunity isn’t a free kick (plus Stephenson got the kick away anyway). The subsequent push in the back against Brown was clear as day.

Not as many howlers as Essendon (and Richmond) supporters are making out to be. Dons were within a goal for much of the last quarter, that they didn’t have the composure (so many wayward kicks out of defense late) to finish the comeback is on them.

It isn't what they paid, it's what they missed. They were that bad the players stopped still at least twice when blatant holding the ball calls were missed. They were utterly blatant.

Then you have Pendles flopping and they pay that...which is sort of fine (if they were consistent which we know they aren't because they are as inconsistent as anything) but then Tippa should have got one down the other end. Pay it both ways or don't pay it at all. Personally I wouldn't be paying either of them. The Pendles one should have been play on. That was an absolute stinker.
