Good to see this as the 4th post in the discussion
Wrote to my club explaining that I wouldn't be attending Dreamtime unless the club took the dismissed Soldo appeal further and offered to contribute financially if it meant going down the legal path. Acknowledged that I didn't expect the club to care one way or the other if I attended because I'm just one of 100K members and we'd have plenty of support at the ground anyway. Didn't hear back and watched it at a mate's place.

I'm sure getting the cheersquads in on it would be a massive help in sending the message.
I think back to when the A-League went silly on cracking down on the active area behaviour a few years ago. The active area supporters walked and made the A-League look silly.

The Carlton cheersquad would have to write to the club and ask permission if a protest would be acceptable under the correct social decorum policy
to be a carlton cheersquad member is a privilege, not a right
The cheer squads are hamstrung. They're under the auspices of the club and if they play up, the club gets punished.
Has to come from the common man in the outer. Whether via a fan-declared Booing Round or in some other form.

If 'bald headed flog' has left him shaken then that Umpire shouldn't umpire another match ever again.
It might be as simple as failing to provide reserved seats for the cheer squad at the next home game, or giving them restricted viewing, or pulling their finals eligibility. Or it might be something that directly impacts the club's football operations.
You saw what they did to Sydney when they upset the AFL's Buddy plans. They are "dealmakers" by nature; plenty of blackmailing goes on behind the scenes. True Machiavellian bastards.
Its weird to see a sporting organisation so totally at odds and out of touch with its fan base.
I would have thought it was pretty obvious that a league which is exclusively funded by fan engagement will try and deliver fans what they want and maximise their enjoyment.
Instead Gil's AFL seem to think their fan base exists to be lectured, preached to, patronized and chivvied along with whatever PC cause is flavor of the month this week. At the end of the day this will hurt fan numbers, because we go to the football to have fun and all that shit simply isn't much fun.
No sensible person is going to condone violent, racist or anti gay behaviour in the crowd, but except for that, can the AFL just leave the crowds alone? I go to the football to switch off, yell at whatever is happening on field and enjoy myself, not to worship whatever sacred cow the AFL wants us to genuflect in front of that week.
