Just getting in before the usual happy clappers come in and try and redefine the signs of success. We know what Ken is good at and unfortunately we know what he is not. So please don't spend all year pissing in our ears and telling us it's raining (especially those from the club).

1. Focus on wining premierships
NOT "winning seasons"

2. Focus on goals kicked
NOT inside 50s

3. Focus on marks inside 50,
NOT repeat entries

4. Focus on hit outs to advantage
NOT hit outs

5. Focus on goals from clearance
NOT clearances

6. Focus on intercept goals
NOT intercepts, tackles or pressure acts

7. Focus on passes to a team mate
NOT disposal efficiency

8. Focus on transition goals
NOT good defensive stats due to flooding with no prospect of scoring

9. Focus on a winning against top 4 teams
NOT gallant losses

10. Focus on smashing cellar dwellers for 4 quarters and 10 plus goals
NOT accumulating insignifant, unimpressive minor round wins

11. Focus on winning this year, not some hypothetical future utopia

If we can do most of the former then Ken and the club deserve some kudos.

If you come in sprouting the latter, be warned.

What else would you add?

Focus on leaving the best players on the field at all times not rotating players off the bench because of BS sports science
Focus on leaving a player on the ground after kicking a goal FFS!
NOT benching them when they are hot and fired up.

AND

Focus on letting players play to their strengths
NOT pummeled into playing Hinkleyball.

This Sir is so UN ken!

7. Focus on passes to a team mate

Probably my ignorance here but are these not the same thing? Or do you mean actual effective passes as opposed to racking up defensive chipping?
Nah long bomb kicks count as efficient in the disposal efficiency stats

I agree with the OP, but when I see read / hear Focus on Footy type comments I immediately think of these guys. Its now etched on my memory banks.

Coming back to this at the half way mark of the season.

1. Maybe. We might have actually finally moved the goal posts. Time will tell

2 and 3. Yes. We seem to have FINALLY found some efficiency going forwards.

4. Nope

5. Yes. Our mids are weapons now and all take the game on and have dangerous disposal.

6. Yes. Without checking stats our faster more efficient play seems to have improved this.

7. Yes. Our kicking was elite on the weekend. Brave and effective!

8. Maybe. Saturday was the first time in a long time I can remember us getting easy, transition goals. It was exciting.

9. Maybe. Definitely a marked improvement here (at least so far in the minor round). The next 2 weeks and then finals will tell a story.

10. No. Still a sign of weakness and lack of desire that concerns me.

11. Mostly, there still seems to ba a bit of talk about future years but the Narkle pick up shows we know we are in it this year.

You all are always amazing me!

At half time I thought we might finally tick that one off on the weekend with a 4 quarter effort :(

The above image shows the point that Lycett was subbed off (I believe tactically to preserve him for the next two weeks given we had secured the win) - I'm not saying Lycett alone was the difference but I would be pretty confident is saying that if Lycett had stayed on nd the focus had remianed on the current game that the timeline would not dip like it did in the last 45 mins of game time.

What I didnt like was the start of the final term it felt like our defensive running had dropped off - beign at home with the 'VID on the day it was hard to tell if we made any significant positional changes .. clearly Lord was rucking and it felt like there were a couple centre bounces with a different makeup (I think I saw Bergman in for a few), but Im ot sure that accoutns for that 15 minutes where we seemed to let them control the game. I also would be interested to know who spent significant time on the bench in the second half as it may tell a story of how we played out the game.
