Both teams are heavily focusing on rebuilding their lists with youth after disappointing 2008. Which club has a better player list with regards to future prospects?

Fremantle and West Coast fans should not vote as it should be unbiased vote.

hey druid, eagles and dockers don't vote.

Apparently Dims, Suzuki and Druid dont understand this.

Anyways currently i would have to say west coast have the better list. They have a lot of young guns in their team and are on the rise again. THey'll challenge for a premiership in roughly three years.

Cmon guys - Get with the program. If you're a West Coast or Fremantle supporter, don't vote.

It's pretty simple and what the OP requested.

It's too early for this poll.

Fremantle have just taken on 8 new players in the draft, and a lot of them aren't that well known. Guys like Ruffles, Bucovaz, Clarke and Hall weren't exactly well known until they were drafted.

This poll is essentially comparing a widely 'unknown team' in Fremantle, to a young 'known' team in West Coast. Until Fremantle play nobody will know how strong or weak their list is.

And don't worry, I didn't vote.

8 new players out of a list of 38 only leaves you 30 senior players to choose 22 from each week any injuries and your going to find it hard like we did last year, the kids can't be expected to play all 22 games.

I am going against the trend but i will explain why.

First I think fremantle have a better list they have a much better forward line who could really turn it on and beat any team. Pav is a star not a superstar yet but he is better than any of the eagles up forward. Des Headland is a great player and can turn a game at any stage. Then you have their backline which I think will show it will take on the best forward line mundy, johnson, hayden, mcpharlin and the rest. Eagles are less experianced in defence, glass is great but not much around him at the moment, the kids are coming but need to be more consistant. Yes, eagles midfield is slightly better but they are getting a touch old, embly and kerr need to stay fit where freo has youth and great youth on it's side. I no eagles have youth to but not as good as freos at the mo.

The next point is Freo got so close so many times where as eagles when beaten were beaten by huge amounts. Young teams do this, up one week and down the next. (i know went through pain with the hawks).

I think the eagles over an extra season or two would push for the best list but next year you will see freo push for the finals but eagles to struggle next year as well.

Remember it's very hard for a team to lose judd, fletcher, braun and cousins and expect to be up there so quickly. I think Graham is another big loss even though he didnt play a lot.

Cant spell to save my life so get stuffed if you are going to pick on me about that.

I think both teams are looking good for the future but again freo just in front at this stage too many big match players.

IMO Hayden Ballantyne should play all 22 games if he can maintain his WAFL form and kick some goals for us. But yes you are right we do not have much depth at the moment and injuries will heavily influence how we go next year.

Eagles are less experienced in defence? Sorry what? We have glass, hunter, wirrapanda and brett jones who are all more experienced than mcpharlin, hayden, johnson and mundy. Please, for love of god, and your own credibility, never say headland is a 'great' player. Guys like kerr, ablett, bartel and cooney are great players, headland isn't any where near that standard. Youth on their side? Are you high? We have a far younger list than theirs. They have palmer, ballantyne, ibbotson, suban, hinkley, hill and mayne........and.............
We have ebert, masten, swift, naitanui, brown, kennedy, mckinley, shuey, mackenzie, rosa, smith, mcnamara, spangher, schofield, davis and hurn all 21 or under

Freo had one of, if not the oldest lists this year, you clearly have NFI.

Fletcher is still playing, graham ws delisted, you seriously have NFI about our list.

Who? Pavlich (who misses when his team needs him in big matches), sandilands (who is very inconsistent), headland (who is very very average) and Mcpharlin.
Compared to Kerr, cox, glass, embley and hunter?

I am not going to comment on the rest of your thread as it seems that you are way too biased but I could not let this go by.

Can you remind me of when Pavlich has gone mssing?
How is Sandiland's inconsistant? He was arguably the best AFL ruckman last year and was pretty consistant all year. He was 1st at hitouts last year and that is what ruckman should primarily be judged on. If he was inconsistant he could not win the overall hitouts. Comprehende???

Excuse me wirrapunda and brett jones cant be in the same league as the others Wirrapunda is at the end of his carrer as well. Wirrapunda played forward as well just in case you didnt no. So dont say to me NFI

I dont no what planet you are from but I regard all those others as stars or super stars, a great player is not a star so for your credibility please can you stop talking rubbish.
I never said that freo had a younger list I said their younger players are better. Palmer won the rising star ibbotson was in that top 5 as well. Come on you are obviously not reading this properly and a little touchy on this.

You never delisted him he quit because of family reasons go and do some F**king research moron. Sorry thought fletcher quit well lets be honest he should.

Lets see how can sandilands be inconsistant he had the most hitouts, Pav still kicked more goals than any one of your forwards WHO DO YOU HAVE FORWARD??? Thats right no one. Hedland is a better than average player and I dont think you could call embly or hunter stars either. Embly had one great game.

Like i said I think next year freo will push for finals but west coast will struggle. This thread is about a list I assume for next year you will see freo push for finals football. Grow up mate just face it your team has a long way to go but has potential to be ok.

WC have an essentially unchanged list which I think will be important. They will improve this year. However with only slight bias I rate the Freo list better. Better over the whole paddock. BTW I didn't vote.

brett jones was in AA contention up until getting injured. Rated by many as one of the best medium defenders in the league. Most eagles supporters would rate him higher than hunter, reflected in his club champion finishes.

Sandilands is inconsistent in the sense that he will only be dominant every 3rd or so game, and the rest are games of ineffective taps and fumbling

Again, who do freo have other than palmer and ibbotson? Name me 10 good freo players under 21, without naming this years draftees.

Graham was going to be delisted anyway. Him leaving was really a jump so he wouldn't get pushed.

I never said hunter and embley were stars, i said they are big game players. Have a look at some of the finals they played in.

Grow up? You're the one who has no idea about our list, as reflected by the results thus far in the poll.

i think the sandilands being inconsistent call was unnecessary, but i would say cox is a much much better player. so we win that contest anyway.

no one said pav wasnt better than our forwards and he is fremantle's best ever player by far.

who do we have up forward? a relatively new bunch of players. probably a forward line with something like:

HF LeCras Brown Embley
F Wirra Kennedy McKinley

the spine of that is very much untried but we are a young side so these guys will get an oppurtunity, opposition supporters would laugh at that forward line but i guess we'll never know how it goes without trying it. potential.

no one called embley or hunter stars. but they are still better than des headland. embley has had much more than one good game...have you watched any of west coast between 2003-now? nah i didnt think so, embers was a gun wingman throughout that period up until our premiership.we're all hoping he'll return there this year because he can be very damaging.

adam selwood > des headland > des headland's tattoo

Sure we've lost some big name players over the past 2 years or so but I'm fairly happy with our current list if they can perform to their hype and potential. Looking forward to the coming years!

inc 21-masten, ebert, schofield, notte, brown, macnamara, spangher, mackenzie, davis, mckinley, kennedy and hurn
Below is the list of game played by each of the players you mentioned:

Masten - 9 games
Ebert - 15 games
Schofield - 12 games
Notte - 2 games
Brown - 5 games
Macnamara - 13 games
Spangher - 7 games
Mackenzie - 8 games
Davis - 11 games
Mckinley - 19 games
Kennedy - 29 games
Hurn - 36 games

How could you say that eg Notte is a good player at AFL level after 2 games???

IMO Palmer and arguably Ibbotson have shown more potential than any of the players on your list above. Then we have Mayne, O'Brian, Hinkley, Drum who are too early to judge as yet although Drum and Mayne have shown more than most of the players on your list + 8 new draftees.
