On Friday, Hawkins was listed as the only player on the AFL match review officer’s charge sheet.

He faces a $1500 fine for striking Port midfielder Tom Rockliff in the first quarter.

It is Hawkins’ second striking offence of the season.

---

I was thinking the second quarter - remember when we won a free kick on the wing, the crowd got pissed off, there was a lot of umpire whistles and then a free kick to Port for something that no one saw, and ultimately a free kick to Ebert in the forward pocket...

If it came from that passage I could maybe understand as the umpires seemed to lose control for a few minutes & could maybe make sense of the off the ball free

But can't remember anything from the first quarter

ahhh yeah that might have been it - they did mention 'high contact' I think - and there was no replay and no explanation - good thinking!

I didn't watch much last night was working.

Stanley kicks a goal in the last Q.
I think we were 2 goals down.
Centre square crew of Stanley Duncan Dollhouse...Adkins....WTF.....
That was the next crew after port kicked the next 2.

FFS pull rank Selwood, Danger Guthrie...

Why are Atkins and dolly in there any ways...
Dumbdumbdumb ....
It was 7 points. But yes it was dumb dumb dumb

Atkins is the only player put in the midfield because he has failed as a foward. Most players would just get omitted.

I rather Close is cleaner with the ball.
Does shit he's pants.
But doesn't get a lot of it.

Forward line been a issue for years ....shits me to tears .

If you look at last nights game we didn’t play poorly. We had great opportunities to win it and didn’t convert. Never seen hawkins choke like that and Duncan stuffed up some very basics which cost us.

I genuinely do think if we got them again in a grand final on neutral turf we will beat them. I don’t think they would be all that comfortable playing us again away from Adelaide either off the back of that game and relying on us to miss chances like that again and them to take theirs

Hang on... in the same game (final) last year against Collingwood didn't he kick 0.4 and you lost by 7 points. I could be wrong.

I agree with the rest of your post... Cats will beat Port if they meet again... particularly on a neutral ground.

Went to the game last night going for you guys... so frustrating.

Good luck from here on in.

The Geelong cats as a football club need some serious soul-searching and self-reflection, they may think its an acceptable KPI to make finals every year but we all know we are all here to see our team win flags, if you're not giving yourself the best chance for that to happen (and we most certainly are not!) then you accept mediocrity. If we have to dip out of finals contention for 2-3 years to build a list that can go all the way then that's exactly what we should do and if the football club think they need to make finals every year to keep memberships up then I don't think they give their supporters enough credit.

This. I'm not sure how much I agree with the rest of your comments but this bullshit manages to infuriate me every time I think about it. I was skeptical about our direction before, for a list of reasons, but I lost faith the minute Carter said this. We should never be satisfied with missing finals, but celebrating simply making finals is ridiculous.

Think he was on the bench with a dislocated finger

Not sure why Danger wasn't in there though

don’t recall the degree of the shots or difficulty. don’t recall it being made a big deal of either. Someone else might recall but nothing stands out like the misses he had last night.

In fairness the ones from the boundary are 50/50, but the snap was rediculous and he missed a sitter from 25m only slight angle. Should have kicked 2.3 at least.

I feel like Hawkins missed 2 sitters in the first quarter last year - or what should have been sitters for someone of his skill

One was a slight angle but nothing stupid, and thinking the other one was touched on the line or knocked back into play when none of our talls got back to stop the Collingwood defenders getting a free run at it

We went in at quarter time with a score of 1.2 8, but could have easily kicked 3 or 4 goals if we took our opportunities

I have seen the stats .. but id like to know the percentages of conversion from where Tom took his setshots from. I suspect the boundary shots would be 1 in 3 ... but the two in the middle should have been goals 3 out of 5

by the time that snap happened ..the little man was doing a mental jig inside Toms head
