we stopped in the last, couldn’t handle them. The first half had so many missed opportunities. Was gutted at the ground.....oh well.
Yep gutted.
We went hard early we needed to nail home more opportunities .

It would be good to get a replay at full speed.
Genuinely not sure what people expect Dangerfield to do in that situation - his arm was already away from his body as he was contesting the ball (which he bumped) and then he braced for contact. It's not like he left his feet to go through bump instead of tackle
I’d say most Tigers supporters were despairing at half time, it felt like you guys pretty much had us on the ropes, particularly with Vlaustuin out of the game showing up some defensive shortcomings. Full respect to Geelong for showing us up in the first half particularly, easily the hardest of our recent GFs. I’d say Dusty was the difference in the end.
If you pick up Cameron & Higgins, and perhaps some moneyball trades, you are gonna to be even better and a scary prospect for all teams next year. salute!

Noone gives him much credit but Hardwick has to go down as one of the greatest ever coaches. He doesnt speak for all of us, you guys are a great side and thoroughly deserved your win, go and enjoy it, emotions are high around here.
Put me at the top of the list,he would trade every other award he has for that one flag, as would anyone else that plays the game at that level.Gotta be honest here, I love Danger and am grateful for all that he's done for our football club
But I can't help but think this chasing a flag narrative is a bit overblown.
I'm sure he'd love one as all players would but I don't think it's the be all and end all he makes it out to be for himself. Still got a very nice media career ahead of him if he wishes and I honestly think that's enough for him.
Could very well be wrong, and if anyone would like to call me out on this feel free, only speculation.

Richmond do have some top players but their success really comes from a game style that just can't be beat.
It's nearly all system and coaching.
No particularly a style I enjoy to watch but so incredibly effective. Especially on the big stage.
It wasn't the complete implosion in the third, but after they got 2 quick ones in succession, the shell shock started. My father stated f*ck, that's it, and in hind sight it was, but they still were in it, I thought, until the last qtr.Just gutted. Watching that third quarter they just gave it away
That whole play realisticly happened in a split second, he was genuinely going for, and made contact with the ball and the bend of the arm was probably reflex. Its the raising of the elbow thats gonna get him.

And to think 4 years ago they were gonna sack him!!
Up until tonight they were the most frugal defence in the league. Talk about throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
We have a few issues with the side. Our defence isn't one of them.
That's why I'd love to see it at normal speed to see how it played out when not slowed down - things always look worse in slowmo
Getting blame helped him and the club.
Whether you appreciate it or not, Richmond is officially a dynasty team. We did well to get to this GF. When they actually beat Port in SA, I (and many of us) knew this was bad news. We had an opportunity, sure, but we could not cope with the relentless pressure they applied, and tonight, the sheer class and brilliance of Martin. Have not seen a better player in my many years of following footy since 1963.People slamming Dangerfield are clueless. It was blindingly obvious what was going to happen at the start of the third quarter yet he was in there for 1-2 centre bounces then back to full forward. Where the ball wasn't. All quarter. So how do you expect him to get the ball when he's been sent as far away from it as possible?
As for Richmond being untouchable football gods, bullshit. They are pretty good, but nowhere near the level of the Lions, Cats or Hawks dynasties. Nowhere near. You people just don't want to face the awkward truth that Geelong had an absolutely golden opportunity to win a flag and threw it away. 1-2 more goals from that period of domination and the whole game would have been different at half time. But the killer instinct just isn't there with this group and Richmond know it.
That was more a failure of Geelong than a triumph of Richmond. I doubt we will get another chance that good for quite a while, especially if we keep recruiting aged cast offs.
Yep, agree. Brilliant. And let’s face it, any system that means a player like Rioli, has three premierships, must have something going for it. Sheesh the footy gods can be tough.Noone gives him much credit but Hardwick has to go down as one of the greatest ever coaches.

And thats being naive.
Taylor gone. Hendo & Blicavs 30+ next year. Stewart is our only rebounding defender with quality foot skills. Kolo Bews & Henry can be suspect under pressure.
We have hard working mids in Menegola, Duncan, Guthrie & Blicavs who help out down back and it's key too our system.
But we clearly lack defenders with elite ball skills and composure under pressure.
It may not be our no 1 issue to address but it's still to be looked at.
Bit harsh on Bews there.I’m not going to point the finger at anyone specifically but our backline needs work:
Harry - Retired.
Kolodjashnij - Can’t be trusted.
Bews - Can’t be trusted.
Henry - Can’t be trusted.
Henderson - Running on fumes. Possibly retired.

A few years back, this wouldnt have even been a conversation. Danger was running at full speed trying to break a tackle-it was an accident. But unfortunately these days that’s not enough. He shouldn’t be cited at all, but he probably will be.Its the raising of the elbow thats gonna get him.
