Geelong to go undefeated in 2024??

Corrupt.

It’s not quite as funny as their Seinfeldian zingers like ‘Geelol’ or ‘Geesook’ which I imagine had a group of a dozen or so of Richmond’s brightest minds locked in a room for 8-10 hours to come up with before Smasha and Blaisee finally slapped their foreheads in amazement at exactly the same time in a ‘by jove I’ve got it!’ moment. But it’s up there.
They are so unhinged over on that Board. One poster claims the state government is conspiring to make Geelong successful so that City does not end up like Detroit.

And this bulltish about Steve Hocking bringing in changes to thwart Richmond and favour Geelong, like (a) Geelong is the only team that will benefit from change and (b) Richmond is incapable of adapting to change. It was mildly amusing when the Richmond posters first raised the Hocking rule changes, but how many years has it been now, and how many players ave left Richmond?

Lollll yes I did read the Government one - that was especially hilarious. It’s just amazing that the state’s brightest minds got together to do this now, not during a 44 year drought when the game WASNT being analysed and scrutinised to the millionth degree and you actually could have gotten away with paying the league to manufacture results and Geelong as a city probably actually DID need some help.

The amount of factors that get ignored in these conspiracy theories need a NASA computer to be calculated.

If there is one club who’s success or failure really DOESNT impact on the AFL’s bottom line (there are about 7-8 IMO but we are near the top) it is us.

We are never ever going to bottom out in terms of our support and membership base because we have no geographic rivals and we are in an AFL heartland. So we won’t dip. Having our own stadium ensures our future financially as well regardless of what people think about it. Equally, we aren’t based in a capital city and our scope for growth is limited and we will never ever, no matter how successful we become, be as big as the major Melbourne teams (including Hawthorn) as well as WCE and probably Adelaide when they are up and about. So our success or failure makes a minimal impact on the AFL’s bottom line and the conspiracy nuts never, ever seem to bother thinking about this.

We all share some of the blame for originally thinking it was a joke and feeding into the delusions. If we had our time again we'd realise immediately they were dead serious and not joke around about Hocking and the AFL being under our thumb. :drunk:

Agree. When the AFL changed the ruck rules relating 2nd man up, it could have killed off Mark Blicav's career. But he and the club adapted, transforming Blicavs into a backman and then a utility. But at Richmond adapting is a foreign concept, it would appear

Hocking was at AFL HQ from 2017 to 2021.
That period oversaw the only time period where Richmond have been relevant in four decades so I think they have the conspiracy around the wrong way.

You mean like how the Tiggies cookers made a whole thread during AFL fixture reveal day that said they reckon the Canadian fixture guy who came up with the formula AFL use is:

"Helping Geelong get an easy schedule while intentionally holding the Tigers down?"

Fixturing guy in question

That's right Tiggies fans, we run the AFL at every level even on an international level.
And there's nothing you can do about it :canada:

Big Geelong planned a false flag attack on pure good boys Richmond

Remember when they thought Brad Scott was giving us favourable treatment during his time at AFL HQ as well?
Even though Brad Scott has never had any association with our club.

Nor has his Brother...oh, wait.

That busted arse broke Government of yours and the AFL just sold the farm to upgrade your regional ground for one teams benefit whilst people sleep 5 deep in city doorways and now they need a return by way of milking you peasants.
No better way to part a fool and their money than with a tin cup to Vic fans.

I can think of 119 reasons why you’re wrong

Sometimes I forget Port fans hate us. They have had two finals revenge wins under Lord Kenny since, but the fire still burns.

Minnow clubs hating on us.

We are the Don Draper in this situation:

Think Mad Men GIF

Watching Carlton yesterday was like watching Port under Ken Hinkley.
Carlton won KPIs such as clearances, contested possessions and inside 50s yet they still lost.

The funny thing is Geelong never usually win the clearances.. They win through their structure, zoning and counter-attacking .
The score actually flattered the blues.. Geelong do what they always do, when they are 30 points up with 10 min to go, they take their foot off the pedal...

Mr Meow Commisserations. I was disappointed the game was even close tbh. The game should've been over much sooner. I thought the dees' skill level was horrendous and overall we're playing well below what we're capable of but still enough to get the chocolates tonight.

No worries, it was a hard game to assess with both sides horrendous goal kicking but Melbourne fully deserved their victory. This is the sort of Melbourne from their 2021 season that has been too rare over the 2022/2023 seasons. Bottle this and who knows, a flag could still be on the cards. That inefficiency up forward can be punished, but Geelong were not a side capable of that on this occasion. Enjoy your night!

These are the things you talk about if it's July and the team's 16-0.

Remember just a month ago the commentators were claiming the Eagles deserved a priority pick?
