If we lose White and Mumford, Sydney will probably have a replacement or two lines up somewhere.

That being said I doubt it will be Franklin... Maybe Martin but I think most clubs are backing away from him for a reason...

The player I am really hoping we keep a hold of is Jed Lamb, his out of contract at the moment and would probably get better opportunities at a different club, if we can keep a hold of him I would call the trade period a success.

If the Hawks know that they will only get compensated with pick 22 from GWS for Franklin with free agency, is it possible that we may offer our first pick, 15 & Mumford as a trade leaving the Hawks in a far better position than if they lost him to GWS.

Knowing the professionalism of Clarkson & Co, he would have explored every best case scenario for his club if he was to give up one of his star players.
But this would mean Buddy would be accepting far less with us then if he went to GWS.

My hunch though is that he will go to Freo!

I think they'd want Sam Reid if it was a trade

Not to mention we will just bomb it even more to him.

If Buddy leads one way and Tippett the other, we just need to try and kick it in between the two. With our usual kicking accuracy, we're sure to hit one of them lace out, we just won't know who...

Doesn't look like we are gonna get anyone good now

Not too concerned about that.

We have a list that if fit can push for the flag next year, all we really need is a little more defensive depth and we are fine.

We usually pick up a player or two though so all we have to do is be patient.

Damian Barrett thinks Mumford will sign with the Hawks, probably works out better for us trading with them instead of GWS, if this Buddy stuff is true we could end up with both him and the compo pick Hawthorn get for him (pick 18).

Now I don't know much about this trading caper, but how do we end up with Buddy and pick 18 for Mummy?

Trading Mumford for pick 18. Franklin is a free agent.

Fair enough. My thoughts are that we couldn't offer much more than Hawthorn, but I spose if he didn't want to be at the hawks, they wouldn't match our offer in any case.

See what happens with all the rumours and scuttlebutt

Alex Brown delisted along with the retirements of Morton, Jude and Mattner. So that opens up 4 seniors spots which should increase to 5 when White gets traded as expected and maybe 6 if Mumford is also traded. Should leave enough room for Perris to be drafted onto the main list.

As a ressie watcher, are you surprised by this, or not so much?

Only surprised in that we didn't know if he had another year to run on his contract. He played all games after struggling with injury last year. Early in the year he was a LRT type utility but settled in the backline about a third of the season in and had some solid outings but nothing too spectacular. Being an awkward height at 190cm, probably not big enough to hold down KP and his kicking wasn't probably good enough to make it as a HB flanker.

Still haven't signed Everitt either will Everitt , Walsh , Armstrong be on the trade table ?

I hope we keep Everitt, he was good value for us this year.

Armstrong and Walsh would have little to no value on the trade table unfortunately. I see us keeping them both as depth and then most likely delisting them at the end of next year.

Perhaps both Brown and Lockyer had three year contracts as we had thought but the club determined that keeping only one of them (and having to pay one of them out) was prudent. I don't know if the third round picks and second round picks get different length contracts.

Signing a third round pick to a 3 year deal doesn't sound like smart list management to me. I understand the reasoning behind it, to try and help the young fellow settle down in an interstate club, but it can lead to situations similar to what's happening now with an inflexible list.

1) Damian Barrett thinks... Wow that's a new skill for him
2) If he "thinks" he'll sign with Hawks is an almost guarantee he will re-sign with Swans in next 24hrs.
On a serious note, if we don't sign Mumford and trade him away for the sake of a year on a contract, then it has to be the case of Us not wanting Mummy, as surely the length of a contract can't be the deal breaker, it is usually the coin.
Dunno just spit balling again...
