A lot of promising talent leaving this club in recent times.
I would bet my money on Motlop leaving at seasons end too.

Wouldn't surprise me if Kolodjashnij left. He's now an established starter so you would hope we would get compensated accordingly.

I'm more confident of Kolo going than Motlop. Mots needs a big season for other clubs to even consider him plus no guarantee he'll remain at the club. Its a make or break year for him.

Fairly certain it's the last year for Mackie & Lonergan.

I also think due to our fairly competitive list structure, players like H-S & Murdoch will request to be traded due to lack of opportunities and game time. Surely they are sick of playing in the 2s.

I even potentially think one of Stanley, Smith or Blicavs could walk if they aren't named regularly in the squad.

I think there is still plently of strong interest in Cockatoo from other clubs and believe he will be heavily targeted at the trade table at end of 2017.

Bloody scares me...

and I hope the hell not..... Hell no...

But there would be our Rd1 back to us if it went down that way...

There MAY be a round 1 pick back if it happened...
As it is at the moment there is no way in hell he is worth a rd 1 pick.

If he is wanting to go then we better hope he has a cracking year, but that also is to our detriment if he goes

Strong possibility , Eade is extremely keen on him apparently.
Because he's romantic and wants to unite the twins? He's done nothing that impressive so far in his career other than chase down a 47 year old Adam Goodes. He is a big ish defender so will take a bit longer.

I think there's a really solid base going into Kolo at the moment. Size, fitness and Scarlo.

Is a he a star - no - worth a Rd 1 pick back to us - maybe not although I did elude to it earlier -

But he's got he skills. To me he's like Lever at the AFC, but a year behind.

Im not expecting miracles but I reckon he's going to continue developing as his expereince and confidence/belief grows.

Id like to see Hendo, Kolo and Gardner in 3 years time as our back 3 of 6.

Need to get him re-signed this year to do that.

And if GCS really want him, make the pay for it.

Eades a grumpy bugger so hardly the romantic , I rate our Kolo and hope he stays.
Info on GC desire to get Jake is pretty solid as of late 2016 , hope it changes............

Or becomes so expensive that its not worth it....

And I dont mind if we have to pay a bit to keep him - provided his year this year develops the way I hope it does.

It's hard to do that with someone out of contract

Particularly if the club sniffing is shit as the Suns could likely be, zero leverage... and that Cochrane is an absolute campaigner so won't want to give up anything

I almost want players to try leave us when under contract these days, at least it gives you a chance of being able to push for something good back (not that we ever really bother)

Nobody is going to trade courteously with the Suns after their attempts to hold this past off season to ransom anyway. Suspect they've already burnt a few bridges too many.

Agree its hard - and we do have recent non lubricated experiences around trade time. And campaigners make it even harder.

All the more reason to be as concerted and forward as possible ( within reason) to maintain the elements that we have developed thus far that have shown promise and good signs.
With the movement of players as it is - as we've experienced - even contracts dont mean tenure - just a better theoretical return if movement does occur and even that has been diluted.

At the end of it however, if he wants out and there is no contract... its a massive uphill battle. One id rather avoid altogether.

On the Kolo to Gold Coast item.....there is a player at Gold Coast that does want to come back to Geelong isn't there? Could all end up being linked.

I could see some sort of Kolo/GAJ trade deal being done. I'm not saying I want to see this happen, but it would not surprise me.

I had assessed a similar thought....
Hated it...

Not that im against GAJ coming back overall - but the metrics of getting him back as part of Kolo leaving would be abhorrent IMO.

GAJ and 500k of SC for a guy that would jump at 500k a year - probably even less - and whom has reasonably 10 years ahead of him...

We dont win that at all.

No we certainly don't win that one.
The possible membership, publicity, sponsorship etc could maybe sway the club to do it anyway.

I think that Kola is a better player than Lever.

If Taylor plays forward and Gardner keeps developing well we could see those 3 playing regular senior footy together as early as next year I reckon Daz.

Of course GC would be keen to get their hands on JK. It's no secret as to why either...

That is a huge call, Lever looks an absolute gem (not saying that Kola doesn't)
but Lever just looks like one of those players that the game slows down for... his light frame may hold him back but it didn't for Mackie so maybe not

Not for mine yet. Kolo looks to have all the tools to build on but I thought Lever was really good at times last year.

I think that Kola is the better one on one defender and that's what I rate first and foremost when judging a defender.

I also don't think that the coaches did him any favours by playing him as a medium/small defender rather than as our 3rd tall. Hopefully this year that will change and if it does it will only be to his benefit IMO.
