Sorry I meant out of contract not Free AgentNah, he's too young for free agency. He'll only be 24 next year.
This is just Tim Kelly 2.0. Either get the deal done this year because you know he's leaving anyway, or roll the dice and depending on form get more or less for him next year.
I know he was trying to get a 2 year deal somewhere, maybe the dons offered that.Todd Goldstein has chosen a move to Essendon as an unrestricted free agent, The Age’s Michael Gleeson reports.
Goldstein is out of contract at North Melbourne, where he has played 315 games. The Bombers and Collingwood were the two front runners for Goldstein’s services, with the 35-year-old seemingly settling on the former.
Report: Goldstein settles on preferred club to join as free agent
The North Melbourne veteran has made up his mind, according to a report in The Age.www.sen.com.au
How bizarre - why doesn't he go to the Pies and try to chase a flag?
Whats Cameron got to do with it? If we were interested then we would have made a pitch for him but we obviously arent interested in any rucksThere is more of an age gap with Flynn though.
Gawn more likely to be injured as he gets older.
If I was Flynn I think Geelong would be a reasonable destination, I would at least be adjung Jezza his opinion on my prospects of playing if I move to Geelong.
Not interested, even if we get a first rounder out of it ?

Smoke and fire me thinks.
Seems that Flynn doesn't look that likely to get a regular game anywhere in the AFL at this point, unless injuries intervene. So following the money probably does seem like a reasonable option.
You could be right. Maybe the idea of living on the other side of the country just doesn't appeal? Or is he not interested in playing for a club whose relevance is likely to be low for a couple of seasons yet?He would regularly get games at wce surely.
I think a few oppo fans would just mentally implodeI remember a few years ago we were linked to Haynes, which none of us believed.
Would we be interested in taking him and 3/4 of his salary and pick 15
We give up a fr2 or 3
Looking forward to how the footy world with contracts and trade is starting to evolve
I think the there is some bargains to be had if we can be patient and wait for next year. After seeing the under 17s game on Saturday I'm even more convinced about waiting for next year. If we were one or two spots higher this year it would be different, but I just think we miss the top echelon unfortunately.
I would try
Pick 7 and FR2 to Richmond for pick 26 and FR1. (Richmond more likely to want Caddy than us)
Ratagolea and 26 to Port for 38 and FR1
Gives us 3 1st round picks in 2024 which opens up all kinds of options in a better draft and with some higher quality players potentially on the market.
I had that poster in my garage back in the dayComes with a Chiko roll, and the accompanying motorcycle poster with the chick in it...
What did Smith say in that interview on Channel 7 last week? Didn’t see it but surely he was repeatedly asked.Still nothing definitive in terms of a public comment by the player. There's been speculation that "Smith said this and Smith said that" but no specific public comment I've seen that's come straight from the players mouth. The only comment is from Paul Connors who said "he expected Smith to be at the Bulldogs in 2024" .......coming from a player manager, that has about as much substance as invisible toilet paper.
If the media are sniffing around and the player has not yet come out with a definitive "I'm staying" then I think there's clearly a chance a deal gets done this year. And we won't hear boo until right at the end of trade period where his manager comes out and says "his player has had a rethink and thinks that a change of environment would be the best thing for his mental health" ..... blah blah blah.
I think even the most bullish Bulldogs fans accepts that Smith is more than likely gone the year after, so why not take a better deal now whilst in contract and just move on. No one wants a bloke playing at the club is he's not completely on board ......and based on the speculation about Smith's relationship with the coach, and a few other snippets about being played out of position, I think bailey Smith is far from on board at the kennel.
And let's not forget Bevo's stunt where he said Smith was "unwell" and couldn't play against Geelong. Too easy to join the dots I reckon and we've seen it with player trades so many times previously.
Smoke and fire me thinks.
He had a very interrupted preseason, if he can get full fitness this offseason, he will be a different player for us for probably 2 years imho, unless he has lost some pace.Bews is 29 years old (will play next year at age 30). At that age he more than likely bounces back after an injury-plagued 2023. We shouldn’t be throwing dirt on his grave just yet.
If we are talking betting, then Betfair has us at 15.5-1, but you can probably put a Back Order at 19.5-1 and someone will match. Tbh, we drop the first game or two, and I can see our Odds going to 24-1 or even as high as 36-1 in the first couple of rounds of the season.Yes I think we can put as good a starting 22 out there as any side come round one. Big questions are where do the magnets best go on the board, and how much luck do we get to consistently put our "best 22" out there?
We need a few to develop and step up over summer - but the same goes for most clubs. We know what we get from Guthrie / Danger - Hawkins - Cameron - Stewart ..... and that core group (and their availability) will determine much of our fortunes for next year. But it's that developing group of De Koning - Holmes - Bruhn - Henry - Clark that will determine how far we go next year.
Throw in surprise from a Neale or Conway (remember De Koning and Stengle last year) and that's the difference between top 8 or top 4. My personal view is that with most of the above falling into place - its then something like a Bailey Smith or "Mystery Mid" type deal that sees us genuinely contending.
Sportsbet has us 8th in line on the betting for 2024 paying a juicy $15. Sell a kidney / sell your car / steal your grandmothers favourite necklace .... if we get a bit more luck than we did this year we'll be in it up to our eyeballs.

So did my Uncle, who had a Harley. He also still has his mullet, and kept his mullet strong from the 1980s right through to this day. Harley and Commodore SS still in the garage... Shhhh!I had that poster in my garage back in the day![]()
It's why I reckon we'll push to get Smith done this year. 7 & the Sav pick or something like that.If we are into Bailey Smith next year .. and perhaps Cadman ... and we like the draft ...we will need 5 r1 picks...
Be nice if we could work out a way to get into the North 2024 picks ... sounds like they are going to throw a lot at WCoast to tempt them for their P1. That last win against the Suns could become very costly

Agree.Constable has retired. Go well chook.
Heard it every year for 20 years. Just gonna have to see it to believe it.See the Bombers fly UP....UP
They are on the way up.
With the evenness of the comp, and several injured players available, they could surprise next year
Captained the Gold Coast Suns' VFL team to a premiership. Hard working player.Constable has retired. Go well chook.
