Yeah looks like they’re being moved from the dingy changerooms in the hickey stand.

Has there been any word on the away team coaches box moving? Wonder if that will stay in the hickey stand.
Rooms have moved, coaches box still in the hickey stand AFAIK.

Here are some photos of the new changerooms. As per the KP social media post this morning, these will be used for the men’s and women’s cricket teams and AFL/AFLW away teams.

With rooms that good, we're going to have teams WANTING to come to KP.

Maybe that was the secret to home finals all along? Modern, comfortable accommodation?

Hey Guys,
Will the standing room get filled up every week? I would hate to stand for the whole game, especially in that non-covered section in the rain. Will these tickets be the cheapest?

There’s still about 100 or so tickets in the back rows of level two of the Joel stand on sale for the st kilda match. At $65 a ticket, it’s probably a bit of a hard sell when level 1 has general admission. I’m sure they’ll get sold but might be one to watch in the lesser profile games.

The old standing room wasn’t full every week, but even at half full it doesn’t look empty on tv because of the increased density of people compared to seated, and because people spread out a bit.

Yes they’re the cheapest GA tickets

I’m personally hoping not! Would love it to be held back for Round 1
I'm big on this as well, I know they would want to test things etc... But it would be a lot more special if it's christened round 1.

Plus I'd assume it can't be used until it's all ticked off by the building inspectors and all the final checks and works completed.
They won't sign off something so prominent until it is 100%, and I'm assuming they are zero chance of having insurance valid without it all finally checked off..

No doubt - but to give it a run in a lesser test will highlight any issues that can be fixed before round 1

Hey lads sorry for the interruption but I've got tickets to the Geelong Saints game for round 1 and just have a few questions getting there.

We've sussed out train and that's the easiest from Melbourne and get off at South Geelong but on the way back the last train is at like 1045pm which means we miss it.

I've gone on the Kardinia Park website and they have said due to redevelpments theres no parking if you drive?

So what would you'se think?

Thanks in advance!
Look you really have only one option.

Give me your tickets

Cheers

You can pretty much guarantee there will be extra services after the game heading back to Melbourne.

There's plenty of parking across the river at Belmont Common (can't see a problem with rain ATM). Not a long walk from there.

VLine always puts on extra trains, don't worry.

Doesn’t look like it will be open for Friday; the match day guide says all seating is general admission in the Brownlow stand and only one gate open.
Good Decision and I'm not surprised. They shouldn't have scheduled a pre-season game at the venue, it would make the grand opening much more special in round one.

The standing room looks improved:
There are " lean on" bars in each small section. Very nice.
There looks to be a higher viewing level available (if you like a lean on [the only "lean on" available was on the fence at the front of the old standing area]).

The down side is you must view down the ground pretty much whereas some standing room in the "old " was near the 50 m arc /boundary intersection. Halfway between wing and goals.

Medium power binocs help on a windy Northerly day...........or will wind be irrelevant now?

In terms of discussion about naming part of the stadium after Costa, could one hazard a guess that this new facility may bear his name upon completion?
The Costa trophy cabinet? We wouldn't have had to buy a new one if it wasn't for him. I think any honour though should reflect his commitment to the wider community as much as to the club itself.

As per the article, this is what they're looking at in terms of the training facility, and meets that connections between club & community:

The club is still identifying location sites for the facility within Kardinia Park, which would support the Cats’ four football programs – AFL, AFLW, VFL and VFLW.

But Geelong is also fully committed to opening it up for community and commercial events, with the Kardinia Park precinct already home to swimming, netball, cricket, local football and senior citizens groups.

My first thought was lean on bars good, why no shelf to sit drinks on? I’m no stander but I reckon a few would appreciate that. I’m guesssing there’d be a few drinkers in that area 😀
