Gun control in America

Honestly, wtf does the USA have going for it?

Lots of government corruption & nukes.:thumbsu:....And a black-hole in it's fed reserve of a missing $20,000,000,000,000. Trillion dollars, looted by said govt.

It's going to get very, very ugly when it all implodes.

That isn't something positive. And I dont believe there is 20 trillion dollars missing.

5 shots all in the center from 1000 yards
That's gun control

In California legal circles, the Peruta case looms large; it has been pending in one federal court or another for nearly eight years, a political lifetime. The case was intended to test the boundaries that Justice Scalia acknowledged in Heller: if the Second Amendment right is “not unlimited,” then what are its limits? Arriving at the Supreme Court at this moment of supreme uncertainty, the case seems likely to test the court’s limits as well.

I think when you can hang out with your mates and shoot anti-aircraft guns the limits horse has bolted...

Ha!! Brilliant. Doing that sort of stuff way out nowhere is ok. Silly waste, but ok.

That Russian ski gun...fookin hell!

I agree with you, these guys aren't hurting anybody...and as the doco said, they've jumped through all manner of hoops to be able to own those guns (of course, this might mean very different things to you/I and Americans).

My issue is with the underlying culture that is completely resistant to any kind of dialogue about why the US has an outrageously high rate of gun related death. They can't even agree on how to accumulate/report data ffs. It's an intractable mess and very sad.

Not long until a civil war breaks out the way things are going over there.

The left will be glad they can go buy guns freely to protect themselves from the hate.

As the purpose behind the 2nd ammendment was a regulated militia to be armed to fight the government, back then was the English.

People on the terrorist watch list are allowed to buy guns too and they never closed that up.

The NRA want more guns out there. Even toddlers have guns marketed to them.

The NRA meet the criteria of terrorist organisation

1) Only act in their own interest, ignoring what anyone else wants
2) threaten those who disagree
3) spread fear and chaos - because then people will need more gunz

They fund politicians to make sure this remains too. Any politician that has tried to step up have had million dollar ad campaigns destroying them.

For USA citizens, the right to bear arms is written in to the American Constitution of 1789.

Amendment 2
The Right to Bear Arms

"A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed
."

Is it now time to change the USA Constitution and introduce gun reform? When the Constitution was created, guns were simpler and less capable of mass casualties. Is this amendment archaic?

How would the USA react to gun reform?

I'm not blaming guns. They are designed to kill though. When people with issues have access to weapons though, the potential for catastrophe is large in the modern era. So why not make it harder for these people with issues to gain access to these killing machines?

Country is f***d when it comes to their stance on the 2nd - if Sandy Hook didn't result in a change nothing will to be honest.
NRA and associated Companies are just too powerful and connected - when you have an absence of background checks , allow mental patients and terror watchlisters to buy guns you know the lunatics have taken over the asylum.
Here we have a debate over a "semi automatic shotgun" , in the US it's game on for any weapon possible - s**t of a country who now must factor in these events as a way of culling the population. :(

Near impossible to repeal the 2nd amendment - baffles me though as to why the USA bureaucrats/legislators continue to sit on their hands with this. Sure, allow citizens to continue to have the right to bear firearms, but after the many 'final straw' incidents, there needs to be some reform put into action.

Even Obama failed to implement gun control in 2012. Next to no chance that Trump, a man sharing a good rapport with the higher-ups at the NRA, does anything to help the inevitable wave of future victims.

Multi-layered problem. Violent country, infighting population, numerous social problems and divides, awash with guns, politicians too weak/corrupt/whatever to show leadership and a fair proportion of the population who are little more than brainwashed sheep.
These tragedies are going to keep happening and happening and happening. The USA is too immature as a country to deal with the problem - probably forever.

Well it could get more interesting if legislation currently before the U S congress to allow gun owners to have sound suppressors for their weapons is passed. Imagine what that guy could have done if he had had a sound suppressor on his gun in Las Vegas !
