yeah... no club is going to give up pick 1 for a player from another club when they can simply offer up something else and if the club they are dealing with dont like it.. well they just walk that player to the PSD and take him for nothing.
and the carlton supporters here somehow claiming that this cant happen with a 1 million a year player.. pffft.. your own club did it just two years ago.. you all boasted loudly to us about how your club structured Martin’s salary at a million a year for the first year to screw the suns over and make sure no one else took him before you in the PSD..
the AFL wont do a thing about it and it wont go to some mysterious ‘arbitration’.. just as what Carlton did with Martin didnt..
whats good for the goose...
all that being said.. I dont think mckay will go to north.. we hear this “he’s gonna go to north on a million a year” claim every year and it never happens.. I bet it is nearly always rumours generated by the players manager just attempting to drive the price up..
Some good points you mention, but let's be frank, there has been no media whispers at all about Harry joining North, it's just something being manufactured by admittedly desperate Roos fans and Carlton hating trolls (a certain Richmond one being prime example)
There is no smoke, where there is no fire. The club and Harry's management have been in discussions for a while, and a deal will be reached sooner rather than later.
We see this situation year in year out with North. They offer big money, but inevitably get beaten by a lower offer. Like clockwork.
This year they are even worse, and might be relocated further south.
I could see another team nabbing him with a decent offer, but nothing surer than him giving the Roos the usual ‘thanks but no thanks’
So what ?
Zac Williams took far less money to come play with us than join your mob.
Your club is paying 850-900k for Zac Williams. You paid top dollar bud.

North have the PSD card. They could play it, just as Carlton did with Gold Coast and Jack Martin.
I know but you kind of need to keep McKay all you will be relying on Casboult as the main man.
Yup agree and say a pick 1 or 2 in this years draft
Not one player in the league is worth 1.3 P/A, especially under current Salary Cap regulation.
And no way in hell does 'battling North' have that money to spend anyway.
Finally it is on record that North offered Zac Williams quite a bit more coin per season than us, yet he still chose Carlton.
Didn’t you cough up 850-900k to outbid North for an injury prone “fake mid” half back flanker last season?
wonder what north offered then? our offer was considered less than theirs
North’s second rounder will be close to pick 20. They may offer something else late in the draft to get the trade over the line. How many times does the above post need to be explained to you?
We didnt 'play the PSD card' with Jack Martin, and nor did we play it with Chris Judd.
We offered a future 2nd and a future 3rd for (650k PA) Martin.
If North (or anyone else) comes for Mckay on a million plus per year, its a 1st rounder (and that's unders).
Get your facts right when you troll OK?
This is disputed, Sam Edmund reported that North offered more and then Sam McClure reported that Carlton offered more. The only people that would know for certain are Zac and his agent. Finally it is on record that North offered Zac Williams quite a bit more coin per season than us, yet he still chose Carlton.
At which point North don't need to agree and take him in the PSD.Which goes straight to arbitration.
If he's a 1 million+ per year player, it's not a second rounder.
Completely agree...if he's in contract or you have a pick before them in the PSD.How many times does the above post need to be explained to you?

Unfortunately for Carlton, he's not worth pick 1 in the national draft. Maybe if they are overly generous, they can swap their 2nd (19) with Richmond for their pick 18 and then you'll have the moral victory.

But there should be no expectation that they should give a first rounder for him as they could walk him for free.
Of all fans, you should know the leverage the PSD card has.
Future 1st.
