You're tough on the kid.
Thought he was in our best dozen on the night.
How many “learning” mids can we play?

We don’t want too much inexperience, when the season is still well and truly alive.

I didn't think he was learning, I thought he doing.
He found the ball. He worked hard. He made the option, he spotted up teammates by foot without shitting himslelf. He slipped it off out of congestion by handball very slickly, in fact I reckon there are a few in our side who aren't used to the pill being offloaded into their direction in split seconds and reacted weakly to opportunities.
I liked his game.
Plenty.
Saw more in his time and how he can be a cog than most kids given a chance.
It would be dumb to drop him after 1 just because he wasn't bog on a night Tom and Jom struggled to find their way, and BB gave zero advantage to any of our mids.

His rep on disposal is wildly inaccurate, think he's quality actually.

Looking at the thread title, this is not the game I watched yesterday.

I'm looking for the 'Insipid Hawks get pulverised by hungry, well-coached Kangas' thread.
I'm with you somewhat...

Are you missing a name... Worpel?

Big wraps on this player and will hopefully be that extra that we need in the middle in the years to come however right at the moment, I feel that JOR is a better fit, has some senior experience and by all reports has a big tank. Worpels time will come and I for one really look forward to it as do you mate!!

That’s all great, but the point is both he and O’Rourke can’t play in the same team, surely.

North beat us up in the 1st half, in our recent encounters Hodgey, Lewis set the tone

That is totally inaccurate!

I don't always post after Roughie has a bad game ;)

Yes, well it just shows you don't KISS his ass!

I only say it cause he was rested emergency & 2 games out isn't really good.

Mmmh. But not because they're at all like one another.;)

I think the prob is that supporters are getting caught up in the fact were off to a decent start so lets protect the eggs and see if we can win something this year.
That would be a mistake.
This year should be about finding out who will be a lock to hold a best 18 position in the team that will contend for silverware over the next 5-6 years.
We should plan to make finals but playing the wrong kids cause we want to finish 5-6th instead of 8th is nuts.
Cousins is good and might be really good. Time is right to find out if it's now or later and let Cyril or Poppy or Burgs be the one to push him out if his form is decent until then.

There were quite a few I had to fight on this board over Sicily early last year, who said he was a liability and one trick and not going to be worth it.
I'll happily stake my cred that Cousins could be every bit as good a find this year.

Have you got a take on Howe? Abasi

Have you got a take on Howe? Abasi

I think Cousins is already a better midfielder in one game than Howe. Dan's no natural at this speed, so he does all the 1%'ers to be valuable on the field. Much like I can respect Langers for all that great endeavour, I don't think there's room for too many of him in the team. Shiela is already of that mold and only rarely breaks out into a ball winning mid and quality link player so for me Howe's value rests in him being able to go back to the half back line and do a job defensively.
If he could mark the dang think effectively, especially coz he's fairly weak at his height, he'd offer more and be a release player for others.
Unfortunately he's like so many on our team, pretty crap in the air.

Anyone know what the free kick early in the 2nd quarter to Atley (18) which resulted in a goal was for. I don't think Atley new either.

Atley didn't know what it was for - it was Mitchell giving Goldy an elbow to the head off the ball right in front of the umpire. Atley got the free as he was closest to goal and therefore closest to the ball (which was about to be kicked in).

I'm not expecting Burton, Cousins or TOB to play next week

Clarko very rarely brings a junior in for 1 game only and drops them. He always gives a block of a couple of games unless it's just a needs baed promotion, ie ruck. I see Cuz getting another week. Burton, TOB, Mirra I suspect all to make way...
