Disappointing to lose, but it's something that happens when putting a new side together. I think we learned a lot from that and what we saw in the third should give us reason to remain optimistic. I felt we were a chance in the last but we just couldn't put enough on the scoreboard while we were in control of the match. If we played NMFC again next week I think we'd win. As it stands we play the Saints instead and I hope we can respond in a big way.

Breust was seriously good, but we really miss Poppy and Cyril.

Really got nobody but ourselves to blame - decided to only play a half of football. The last quarter we spent all our petrol tickets just trying to get back into it. North were better with their kicking then I expected but that was us being horrible.

Mitchell, O'Meara and McEvoy - three big reasons for our success - all had shockers and were beaten by their opponents. Our backline was under siege and couldn't cope due to the height difference. It's easy to bag Frawley but with the lack of defensive pressure it made his job 100x harder. Sheils was a catalyst for our lift in the third quarter and then was injured and couldn't return (no mention by the commentators).

Our tall forwards were bad. Gunston couldn't provide an aerial presence. Roughead was good in the middle but made too many errors forward. O'Brien was beaten comprehensively by Daw. Majak bloody Daw. Tarrant had a field day. Combined with missing our best two pressure small forwards, our forwardline didn't function. Credit to Breust and Impey for trying their very hardest to drag us over the line.

Special efforts from Hardwick, Morrison, Henderson, Sicily and Smithy got us rolling but ultimately we just gave up too much. Frustrating loss but perhaps this brings us back to reality and makes us prepare harder for the next few games.

I only watched bits and pieces we need more pressure in the midfield the way we got them to turn the ball over was with our structure, when North were turned on early on the only way we could've stopped it was with our own pressure players, though they did tire themselves out early.

People may not like to hear it, Langford would've been handy. And maybe Worpel should've been in if his pressure is as good as the AFLX suggested.


My dog are you serious. They've only beaten shit teams, lost to the Suns and Dees, and they touched us up early, we should've beaten them, but coulda shoulda woulda. I can deal with a loss but they are far less talented.

A marking forward please. Seeing majak mark too easily too often - too common in our losses.

Omeara and mitchell not good enough today. McEvoy beaten badly but kept working hard. Impey had a crack.

Burton now looks like a young raw player instead of the absolute gun he was last year. Has lost his agility and confidence. Coaching staff have to fix this quickly.

Smith and roughy lifted us in the 3rd - was really pleased.

On a brighter note- billy hartung did his best to get us into the game.

Agree there killing burton in defence he lost in his role with stratts and sicily the main 3rd man up.
Play him forward and drop tob. Or play him in spurt on ball he has class.

Burton's ankle was the perfect excuse to give him a 2 week freshen up then 2 weeks at BH.

Frawley was poor as well, need to replace with brand. Loosing shiels was extremely costly he was on fire till he got injured.

Doc makes mistakes but you cannot doubt his courage love him for that. Impey was terrific. Burton I am lost for words wtf has happened to him? Cousins tried hard was ok without being damaging

Norf pressure was really good but apart from that, I'm not sure we were all that interested today.

I'm not gonna get stuck into the boys, it was obvious enough who played well and who didn't. Very pleased they showed some heart to come back in the second half, at least they can take something away from that game.

Let's see how they respond in the first half against St.Kilda next week.

Someone should've been put over the fence for what happened to Mirra.

Really disappointing to see basically no remonstration whatsoever and found it reflective of the team effort, just soft.

Special shout out to Luke Bruest and Jarman Impey though, sensational games and if everyone can build the attack on the ball Jars has we'll be in for a hell of a year.

Impey was great. That contested mark and then taking the man on and sweet kick to end with Shiels goal. Excellent

Credit to North they played us well.. we struggle to score when teams slow us down and force the long kick forward to their intercept players.. times today we were just giving Majak marking practice.. making a spud like that with no footy brain look like a champion.. We need to come up with a plan B when this happens or we’ll be too easy to beat

We can talk about the first half for an eternity. However that final quarter performance was really shabby. They were two rotations down.

Our skills were really poor, and the major questions marks I had all pre game were answered.

Burton - really didn’t show enough. He is expected to rise. Unfortunately poor.

Mirra - when the heat was on, his disposal and efficiency was shabby.

O’Brien - no impact, disappointing.

We didn’t gel today. Happy to only go down by 28 in the finish.

Every game is huge this season. When you are off you are punished. Annoying loss, however that’s where we are at. A massive opportunity missed.

If we can somehow remain a game or preferably two ahead of the bye, then we should expect a host of experience to come in which will compliment our side.

The whole team was sub par today. No real winners apart from Breust who continues his exceptional season.

One team has won a premiership with their home at Etihad (bulldogs). North will slow down when the real heat is on. They cannot produce that first half on a weekly basis for a full season. It was too perfect. Reminded me of some of our out of the box performances in 2006.
